Keep in mind Keith David said something similar in the lead up to Mass Effect and he was still in game.

This is why I'm not worried. Just because he hasn't been contacted yet doesn't mean that they won't. The games is many months away.

I was under the impression animations were created based on voice work, not vice versa. If true, I imagine this is more a confirmation of Mordin's role being diminished.

I will patiently wait until it's officially confirmed that Mordin will indeed have a new VA. If he does, I will cancel my preorder, buy the SE used later to finish the story, and tell BioWare to take their DLC and shove it up their ***. That is a promise.

Holy hell man...

The ignorance on the bioware social network has reached an all time high.

Has BW not even started recording the voices yet? I'm getting more and more worried that this game might be a rushjob.

Seth Green, Tricia Helfer, Brandon Keener and Mark Meer have recorded voice-overs. It's been hinted that Steve Barr was also in the studio recently. Usually Shepard's lines are kept for last so the lead actors can work with the voice work of other actors. I assume Meer recorded the voices of both Shepard and Mordin early just so the characters in the E3 demo wouldn't be mute.

Holy hell, you can´t just believe that the moment you see it, we still got EIGHT months, guys! I´m sure Beattie will be recast for ME3, you´ll see. Just don´t begin wild, pointless speculation that will definitely be worthless.

Why do people keep misusing the word "recast"?

If a role is "recast" then the original actor IS NOT returning to the original role. Stop using it to mean the opposite.

I'm pretty sure they all had lines in the E3 demo, so that's probably what it was for.

Michael Beattie better voice Mordin again. If you can't get him back I'd honestly rather have Mordin die of old age in ME3 and have some other Salarian in his place.

Also what's this hoopla about no more Ginny McSwain? Umm that's bad. And I mean real bad as she's probably half the reason for the quality of the dialogue in the game. As I understand she's one of the better recording directors out there. So we've lost  Drew, Jack, Sam, Christina, and now possibly even more?

I know the game is far from being finished, but I'm getting a tad concerned over the loss of staff involved with Mass Effect at this point. I do not find this reassuring at all, since the loss of several individuals with ME2 had quite a noticeable effect on aspects of that game's quality. (By this I'm refering to animations and some of the technical writing.) I was hoping ME3 would be better then ME2, now I'm starting to really think it might just end up worse.

Losing key people on a project is almost always bad and trying to have others fill-in rarely works out for the better. And if you can't even get the same VAs back you may as well just rub salt in your wounds.

I've just completed another run through of Mass Effect 2 and in the credits it has Caroline Livingston as VO director.

Am I missing something?

Well he could have been unable to but still say he'd have liked to. Sometimes you can't get out of other commitments.

Well let me quote directly from the source:
“You are correct. That is not my voice you heard in the Mass
Effect 3 trailer. As you know, I had a blast “giving voice” to Mordin in
Mass Effect 2 and would love to reprise my role in ME3. However, as of
this writing, I have not recorded anything for ME3 nor have I signed a
contract to do so”.

So it's stronger than "liking" to do it again. He said he would "love" to do it again. That doesn't leave much room for doubt that he would voice Mordin in ME3 if given the chance.

That doesn't change anything I said. It doesn't matter how much he'd love to do it,  it doesn't stop the reason he might not be able to do it from being another commitment that he can't get out of.

To be honest, it just sounds like he can't tell the press that he's voicing Mordin until the contract is signed so all he can be is non-committal until he's negotiated his contract.

See, this is what happens when you don't read the OP or anything else in the thread and just stick to the title.

This is terrible news!.

As in news reported with heavy supposition, as well as a complete lack of comprehension regarding the meaning of the word "officially".
