With how popular Mr. Solus was I highly doubt they would recast him without a very good reason or at least giving us a heads up. Else the rage from fans come release when we realize it is not the same voice would be massive.

Here's an article from September 2009:
"Gamespot: So, are you going to be in Mass Effect 2 as well?"
"Keith David: I hope so. I hope they ask me. We'll see."

As we all know, ME2 was released in January 2010, and since they hadn't even contacted Keith David 7 months before the release, so there's obviously more than enough time to have Michael Beattie do his lines for ME3, especially since there's been no official confirmation that he's not going to reprise the role.

I agree. I wish the OP would change the title, but then, that's their way of getting people to read their articles. This should be locked as SPAM. <_<

That's not Beattie. That's Mark Meer(?) doing a passable Beattie impression.

Still, I fail to see why this thread hasn't been locked or at the very least edited by a mod. The fact that OP has responded to some things yet completely ignored the many requests to change the title/first post information leads me to think that it is indeed a ploy for hits on their site. Even if that isn't the case, said information is misleading and inflammatory. Should be changed.

I think many of you are jumping the gun. Are we all also forgetting that Thane's voice in his E3 piece prior to ME2's release was different from the final one?

The E3 voice of Mordin is pretty darn awesome. I dont see an issue.

That wasn't Mordin's voice in the E3 demo, it was Mark Meer not Michael Beattie. Personally I could hear a difference between the two and while MM did a pretty good job as the placeholder voice for Mordin, I'd rather have MB back in the role.

Nope. The style was somewhat similar, but the pitch of Mordin's voice was way off.

While I think Michael Beattie is the best voice actor in Mass Effect 2, I wouldn't mind a recast if Mordin only has a small part. Still, I don't believe they'll recast him.

I think Mordin is a great character, it will be very disappointing if they change voice actors. They did it with Isabela in DA 2 and a few other minor characters, so I guess I wouldn't be suprised if Mordin's voice actor was changed. I just hope they don't put him in long boots and a tunic with no pants!

They aren't changing Mordin's voice actor. Even with characters like Anders and Isabela, the reasoning was that their actors sounded too similar to another character.

Out of a cast of fairly mediocre squadmates Mordin stood out as particularly interesting and well written. I wouldn't say its 'confirmed', but if he is being recast it's a mistake. Anders seemed like a completely different character in DA2 in no small part to his voice actor being changed.

DA2 was not a direct sequel and they redesigned quite a bit. Merrill was the most dramatic voice change. Mass Effect is a trilogy and they'll try to be more consistent.

I know it's not a direct sequel, but why bring back characters if Bioware is going to change them (sometimes fundamentally) as they did in DA 2? I doubt they would make such a change in ME as well, but it does instill a lingering paranoia in the back of my mind.

As I remember Michael Beattie said in this interview that recording session took overally 10 days or something, so maybe he didn't made it yet, but he will (hopefully).

I find it difficult to believe they'd recast Michael Beattie "just cuz", but the fact that they haven't gotten around to recording any lines or even contacting him yet may mean that Mordin has a diminished role in Mass Effect 3.

So...is this true or not? The link won't open for some reason.

Looks like the interview was removed.

Beattie basically just said Bioware had yet to contact him to record any lines. There is plenty of time left for him to waltz in and do them.

In an interview about ME2, Beattie said he'd love to return and even would play the character in a movie. He loved the dialogue and the character and wanted to play Mordin more. Unless he changed his mind, I'll bet he's coming back and BW just hasn't done the VA work yet.

I'm going to assume the same VA will be back for ME3 until there's a definitive answer saying otherwise, it wouldn't make sense to cast someone else just like that if he's interested in reprising the role.
I mean, that would be like recasting 47 from Hitman for no real reason, that's ju-...oh.
