Also, you can skip on PS3 by pressing square, probably X on Xbox.

The Earthquake spell effect and the Fade. I really, really hate the Fade. At first I thought it was brilliant. On subsequent run-throughs I've come to dread it. I like the party micromanagement feel and using each person's skills to my benefit. When I don't have them with me it feels sort of empty, and so I rush through it.

I dunno... not to be a fanboi or to flame you guys, but in MY opinion, 90% of the above comments are untrue... not that they are annoying, but that they can be skipped, fixed, etc by spending a little time messing with it (take tactics for example... my group works perfectly because I spent time adjusting and setting them).

Also on the "too many cutscenes" comment... that may be your opinion, but this is a roleplaying game and the focus is the story, not the combat/action. The cutscenes are the POINT of playing a game like this.

Too much gore? Turn off the persistent gore button. Come on guys, how much does a pool of blood under an enemy affect gameplay? Saying its ruining it for you is just ridiculous.

I mean really! ;)

It's not the biggest deal, but you can't save new presets in the character creator (xbox 360 version) - it sucks to be on the right track but mess up the cheekbones and have to start over to get back to 'human'.

And the fact that my PC blows so I have to use the watered down 360 version instead. Blah.

No, you misunderstand me...

If I wanted to watch a movie I would, I dont mind cutscenes, but the ones in this game seem to take forever... I dont know. I realize this is an opinion, but it annoys me.. thats what this thread was titled.. :)

The gore... Im not talking about the pools of blood, Im talking about how when you enter a conversation your character looks like jack the ripper on steriods... Its looks ridiculous.

I actually only really have one nitpick. That's the camera not being able to be panned further ahead in isometric mode for pc. Drives me nuts that its locked after a certain point.

Not that it annoys me all that much, but yeah, some of the camera didn't consider equipment differences it seems. I have had my pauldrons block the characters quite a few times in dialogue.

Huh? 125 slots isn't all that limited is it--really? Well I never found it to be a big issue. Then again, I do have the Party Storage to use on the side from The Warden's Keep as well. But there is a Quartermaster (read: vendor) in "Mage Tower", unless you mean after you go past a point of no return, so to speak.

Note: Check out the Example package: Camp storage chest for a mod that puts a Storage Chest in your main camp like The Warden's Keep one (I guess, haven't tried the mod myself).

- - -

Dialogue when talking to NPC's can be skipped, Esc on PC. Surely some button on PS3 and XBOX360 too. The same goes for cutscenes if you don't want to watch them. I agree gore can go overboard in how it has splattered all over your character, even after killing a mouse, but I would rather have it like this than none at all, personally. And yeah, the Blood Dragon Armor has a seriously bad texture. If BioWare would just update that DLC with a higher resolution texture, the armor itself isn't all that bad (except it looks a bit too futuristic for my taste).

One thing that really does annoy me though, the fact that I can't for the love of god find anywhere that it says what the item set bonus is, except for on the Player Profile! Perhaps I can inspect the equipment piece in-game, I don't think I've ever tried that.. hmm.. *runs of to try* //I see I am a dummy for not having tried that earlier, inspecting pieces of equipment tells you what the item set bonus should bump. Not values, but at least it says the same stuff I see in the Player Profile.

The npcs joining automatically leveled up is my biggest annoyance. It limits your customization by such a great deal; and it really can gimp them badly if they join you at a high enough level.

What bugs me....when i am dealing with a merchant, realize i want to sell something equipped, hit I for inventory, when i close the inventory window, the merchant window is now gone. And then i have to hear about my discount again, or how his wife's father is the best smith in town....

You know I tried every key I could think of for skipping dialogue and cutscenes, ESC was the first one and it didnt work. Is this something that must be enabled?

The lack of information given. Seriously, I want to know the exact amount of damage a spell does.

And you should be able to skip with ESC normally, without turning anything on.

I don't think I've messed with the binds except to make one of my mouse buttons a toggle for walk/run mode. Take a look under Options though, if it is an option, it is probably there, hehe. Perhaps in the Config tool before launching the game. I know for a fact that on PC it should be possible to skip dialogue and cutscenes though as on my second playthrough I did it a few times when I already knew exactly what would be said and what would show on my screen.

Starting cutscenes that remove/mess, party positioning/stealth, a nonsense, i mean imagine being a scared rogue sneaking around, you enter a room with something huge and terrifying in it, y would you ever want to bump your mates and become visibile again? to talk with it? ^_^

No real chance to solve a major quest without fighting your way till the end (but that's not just a DAO problem)

but i still think this game is good, not great like BG (just to stick to popular bioware games)was back at it's times, but good yes.
(ok maybe being me over 30 now and around 20 when i played BG should be taken into consideration but ehi ..)

if by "skipping" you mean skip the whole stuff, nope you can't
but if you press ESC you simply skip the current line and that boost the speed of the dialogue, even if i'd suggest not to skip them.

It works fine for me... unfortunately, for the vast majority of the 'cinematic dialogue' , you have to hit ESC for every single line of dialogue... and if it's a line of dialogue that is going to prompt you for your own reply, you're stuck waiting.

Honestly, I was a big fan of everything being VO when they announced it, but in action, it's a pain in the butt... and really hampers replay, where I'm stuck clicking esc to get through all the laborious long-winded dialogue scenes that I already dealt with on the first run through.

There is also already a mod whereby you can have any NPC joining your party not be auto-leveled, which goes a long way to helping make NPCs a little bit less useless.  I'm not sure if it's available via the official site, but it's out there on dragonagenexus, regardless.

My other peeves:

- lack of any detailed info on skills/spells/powers
- lockpicking being a power, while traps/poison/alchemy/etc. are all skills
- no combat log, and no real way to know who is doing what or having something done to them
- limited party-member options
- blur in the fade (and annoyingness of the rain during the invasion of ostagar)
- character development... just not a fan of a lot of the powers available.  Character development in that respect seems very limited, when compared to D&D.
- small party size
- the same old 'NWN/NWN2' effect where your party often finds itself standing squarely in front of the enemy, (with your protagonist up front), regardless of how you had positioned them pre-cinematic.
- on the same front, lack of any form of formation control
- most NPC interaction still occurs in the camp, continuing the recent utterly monotonous trend of 'go back to base, and then cycle through conversations with every NPC to advance their storyline'

Edited to add:
-memory leak
- Some buffs stay on through area transitions, some do not.  I am assuming this is a bug.
- Not an issue with the game itself, but the new forums are inferior to the old.  I'm also sure there is a means to do it, but... has anyone figured out how to get just the dev posts on a given thread, like we could on the old threads?

Content-wise, I think DA gives a lot of bang for the buck, but I'm not in any way sold on the game mechanics they've created as a homebrew alternative to D&D, and I wish a lot of the design decisions I disliked from previous recent Bioware games (KotOR, NWN, etc.) had not made their way into DA as well.

I wish you could go into evey building kinda like Fable and I wish the world was open like TES: Morrowind. Thats about it for me. With the open world you wouldnt have so much loading it just bugs that crap out of me with all the loading in this game.
