I've ran into a link recently on this forum. Quote:

With Beattie recast, Jack Wall not composing it and rumours of the much-respected Ginny Mc Swain STILL not part of the project; we’re becoming increasingly worried by the day.
We’ll see what EA have to say about the whole thing.

Reading that has set me thinking. Why do all these changes happen now? Why didn't they happen earlier? Everything went great so far as it is. Isn't it because EA finally noticed the true potential of the ME franchise? That would explain why they suddenly started devoting new people and more resources towards the development of the next game in the series.
For instance, take the series' composers, Jack Wall&Co. They've done a great job in both games released so far, yet still they got replaced. And not just by anybody. Mass Effect 3 will be Clint Mansell's first videogame in his portfolio.
Now I'm not sure who makes that kind of decisions, EA or Bioware, but whoever it is, they are obviously trying to reach a whole new level of quality. Why else would they suddenly reject those reliable people, tested by time, already familiar with the series?
Any thoughts?

Thoughts: you could have just posted this in that thread, rather than creating a new thread for the exact same subject.

Hopefully EA will realize that the best way to make money off it woud be to leave Bioware to do their thing.

I heard that since EA acquired Bioware, ME has been ruined forever.

I love the work that Jack Wall did, but I'm not sure why some people view him as the the only composer capable of creating a good soundtrack for a Mass Effect game. Are these people aware that the Overlord and Lair of the Shadow Broker DLC, both had excellent soundtracks that were not written by Jack Wall?

And Jack Wall was not replaced with just any composer. He was replaced with Clint Mansell, an even more accomplished composer (no offense intended to Jack Wall) who has worked in Hollywood, and composed the soundtracks for The Black Swan, Moon, Requiem for a Dream, and The Fountain.  With The Fountain and Moon, he also has a Sci Fi pedigree.

Welcome to Lunar Industries (Three Year Stretch) from the Moon soundtrack:

Ladies and gentlemen, we are in good hands.

Bioware have already hinted at other games that will take place in the mass effect universe.

Its the type of IP that could deliver a lot of decent games spanning genre's from fps to mmorpg and everything in between.

I think after all the major DLC had been released for mass effect 3 that we'll start to hear whispers of another mass effect game, but even then it could be at least a few years off release.

Indeed, and I can't blame him. He was pretty close to being known as "that Mass Effect composer guy."

Sad to hear Jack Wall is not working on ME3. The soundtrack is basically what really got me into Mass Effect. The music was spot on.

I vote Jakob's Oran Mor for the credits for ME3 though.

There's no definitive proof that Beattie was recast, the actor who played Mordin in the E3 demo was most likely a placeholder. We don't even know how much Mordin will show up in the final game, Bioware might just need him for a day or two of voice-over recording. The game doesn't come out until March and they are still working on completing things.

As far as Jack Wall is concerned, he's a great composer and I loved his work on the Mass Effect series, however, Clint Mansell is a phenomenal composer and any video game developer would give his/her right arm to have him on their project. Anyone who has heard his work in The Fountain or in Black Swan will have no fear of his presence on the team.

I don't really see why any of this is worth worrying over. You all see one trailer and find some minor studio reshuffling and you all flip out. I reserve my final judgement when the game comes out. Until then, don't jump to conclusions about things you have little information on and if some people are changed out, get over it.

Exactly. EA/Bioware is trying to make ME3 even more than a game. It's like their making a movie that can be played. Why?

Oh, and, btw, Mansell also wrote the score for the movie Moon 2012(2009). Nice movie, and obviously a sci-fi one.

I think the best music from ME2 comes from the DLCs, and those didn't come from Wall. His ME2 track was solid (especially his SM tracks) but ME's music was (at best, IMO) forgettable. The DLCs's were different.

It's a matter of taste. I'd say the DLC music felt "aftermath"-ish and cool, but the Suicide Mission theme has no equal. Never heard such an incredible heroic theme anywhere else.

The suicide mission track was epic. Even though Jack Wall isn't working on ME3, I'm sure Bioware has rights to some of the work he already did for the series, and some of his better tracks will be returning. (Mass Effect's main theme, the Galaxy map track, ect)

Speaking of the DLC, I thought Lair of the Shadow Broker had the best combat track in the game so far:
