So I'm in Donovan Hock's vault on Kasumi's loyalty mission, having a wander around, looking at the various pieces of art he has, and just as I'm about to pick up Keiji's Greybox I notice a gun on the table, "examine" pops up, so I do and hey presto I got a new gun!

This is my 6th playthrough, yet this is the first time I discovered it! 



Anyone else miss out on this? Or am I the only one? . . . . . . .

Never missed it. Saw the gun the first time, picked it up and I was like... fancy gun, small clip though.. ran around with it, noticed it didn't loose much accuracy while doing so so. Picked up the greybox, blasted the incoming fools with my newly aquired Locust, loved the gun, used it for the rest of the game.

Didn't you get it automatically after the mission though? I think it's the same for the vindicator and the (forgot name) shotgun you get during Samra's mission. If you don't pick them up, they're given to you after the mission.

Seriously though, if you don't pick it up, you'll get it after the mission.

its actually not too hard to miss if you just examine the grey box instantly, then it goes to cut-scene and you have to fight off commandos.but i remember searching for possible weapons shepard can find (on wiki), and noticed that kasumis loyalty mission also gave us a new submachine gun. so i was looking everywhere for it

didnt know that they give it to you after the mission. on other occasions where shep can find a new gun, they dont give it to me if i pass it up on accident.

I thought that if you missed the Locust you get awarded the gun after the end of the mission anyway?

Even if you do, I doubt it auto-loads it for your use. It's pretty easy to skip the mission end screen and ignore the loadout screen (especially for SMGs, since you were either stuck with the Shuriken or were given the Tempest).

That said, I didn't miss it. Love the Locust.

I've picked up the Locust every time, so I'm not sure if it shows up if you miss it or not. Strangely enough, though, I've never actually equipped it.

I actually just played this mission again last night - if you wait to pick up the greybox, you can poke around, looking at the statues, or doing whatever you want. I did that for quite a while, just to test my own theory, and no enemies came in until I triggered the cutscene by inspecting the greybox.

I downloaded Kasumi almost completely for that Locust.

Just claim you always play as a Solider and it won't even matter.
