first- Why does everybody keep saying that the N7 weapons are reskins of the DLC weapons from ME2? (Locust, Eviscerator, Incisor, and Phalanx)

Clearly they are not
Image IPB

Also, does anyone think they will be worthwhile to use?

They do look similar.

You have to admit, although they aren't re-skins, they definitely do look quite similar.(except the smg)

And they better be worthwile, not buying the CE for nothing =p

Agreed. On both points.

SMG- top rail removed, fore grip modified, metal bit for thumbhole stock extended to back
Shotgun- Grip changed, significant changes from the trigger gaurd forward.
Sniper rifle- Thumb hole stock removed, back stock changed, the thing under the barrel changed.
Pistol- It looks like they just rounded off like 2 bumps on the top of the phalanx.

It's pretty clear they used the DLC weapon model's as the starting point. Like they loaded those into 3D studio max and made a few basic changes, and then did skins.

The N7s all look like they were based on the comparisons you provided from ME2, but they are not just straight-up reskins. I don't have a problem with this since it provides an artistic tie to the previous games, just like ME2 did with most of its weapons.

The only one that looks kinda reskinny to me is the pistol. My guess is that they will behave very similarly to the old DLC weapons, which definitely makes them worthwhile IMO.

Of course, I'm getting the CE for the cool box and the artbook, hurr durr.

Woa, hold on a minute, Your telling me yur not buying it for the dog!? =p

Hopefully they will be unique when compared to other weapns in the game
(I think the sniper is also pretty different than the inciser)

Yes, they're quick re-models, not actual re-skins. Most people with eyes knew that!

Will they be decent? I don't think they'll be any better than the weapons you have access to by say, 1/3rd of the way into the game. They'll probably be fine.

Remember, though, that it's been said that all ME2 weapons will be in ME3, so the weapons they're based on? They'll likely be in the game, and probably quite similar.

For example, I'd be unsurprised if the N7 Shotgun had the same stats as an ME3 Eviscerator, only could fire an extra shot/clip but did slightly less damage, or if the N7 Sniper Rifle was like the Incisor, only it didn't have burst-fire but did a little more damage, and so on.

I kind of mind the pistol. The modifications to the other ones change the feel enough that they seam like very different weapons, but the pistol just seams like a grey phalanx.

I hope not those weapons already appear to be in the vanilla game.

I hope they worth it, but hopefully they are not stupid overpowered like the Mattock. Seriuosly with the Soldier I can empty an hole clip in one AR and kill 3 Vorcha, 2 Mercs or 1 Krogan on insanity, no other weapon can do that. Since the Firepower DLC I don´t know which weapon to chose on the collector vessel. Viper beats Widow, Mattock beats Raveger, GPS beats Claymore (at least for me)
I hope that DLC weapons won´t destroy weapon balance in ME3.

Oh I´m a little disappointed, that there´s no N7-Assualt Rifle.

And I don´t have any problem with similar looking weapons. It´s not like ME1 where we only had reskins and besides accuracy, heat and damage the weapons wheren´t any different.

Well, it's not like I'm buying the CE just because of the guns. Which looks pretty neat, by the way. I want that FENRIS mech. It looks so cute when it's not trying to zap me.

And the DLC character, of course.

I am curious if the modifications to those guns are exclusive or if they're simply the modded versions of the normal guns with N7 skins, though.

They look good and have red stripes. That's all I need.

Appear to, yes, but that could very well change. If indeed they are just reskins, then that's just dandy because now my SMG matches my armor.  If they're all new, it'll probably be a mixed bag: the Collector Assault Rifle sucked, but the armor actually had pretty decent stats.

Yeah the mattock is a lot silly.

Basically I agree on all counts bar the Sniper Rifle, for me the Widow is the best of the bunch, just to add the Locust poo poos all over the other SMGs.

Honestly if the N7 weapons are just a reskin of already in game weapons it will be the ultimate sucker punch.

Many are already frustrated with the price of the CE as it is.

Clearly, they are very similar.

I would like to know why there is no N7 assault rifle? Either way, I doubt I'll be buying the CE just for a few more weapons that may or may not even end up being the best available. CE armor is needed.

As great as art books and such are, they arent the driving factor for most people to shell out the extra $$$.

I think it's odd that we don't have a human made assault rifle in Mass Effect. Would be perfect to go with the rest of the DLC weapons.

Honestly, I suspect we'll see an N7 Assault Rifle already in-game, available somewhere - the CE perhaps just allows you to complete the "set" rather than having an isolated weapon. Like the Geth Pulse Rifle being the only Geth weapon unless you got the shotgun from the DLC.

Why are people always so concerned about weapon "balance" in these games? It's single-player. If you think the gun is too strong then just don't use it. You don't have to worry about anyone getting a cheap kill on you with it like COD or something. And why wouldn't Shepard want the best possible weaponry to SAVE THE GALAXY?

Good point.  :?

Anyway...  The pistols are similar (although they aren't exactly identical).  However, I think people are grasping at straws on the other 3 weapons.
