the M-8 Avenger assault rifle is the primary weapon for Alliance soldiers, N7 or otherwise. The fact that it is not as spectacular is besides the point.

I feel like they will behave differently, as Bioware has stated that all the weapons from ME2, including the DLC ones, will make a return in ME3. I doubt that they will be overpowered, in fact I doubt I will even use them after getting more than 1/3 of the way through the game, as there will probably be better ones by then. As for the complaints here about the firepower pack weapons, they are supposed to be overpowered, that was the point. They were supposed to upset the balance between weapons and were designed for people who had played through several times.

It's not made by human manufacturers like the other weapons, though.

Reading your link it says the M8 and varients.

Why wouldn't the N7 model AR be one of those M8 varients? :)

In ME1 we see little to no standardization among the different armor and weapons the Systems Alliance forces you encounter are using, and in ME2 we don't see much of the Systems Alliance at all. So I would rather doubt the M-8 is standard.

Why are people always so concerned about weapon "balance" in these games? It's single-player. If you think the gun is too strong then just don't use it. You don't have to worry about anyone getting a cheap kill on you with it like COD or something. And why wouldn't Shepard want the best possible weaponry to SAVE THE GALAXY?

From it´s shooting behaviour the Mattock is exactly the weapon I always wanted for my Soldier. I never liked the burst of the Vindicator, so I got used to the Avenger and later the LMG. Now I have the Mattock and I really like it and without AR I don´t think its OP but the shooting-frequenzy isn´t turned down by AR which makes it too powerfull.

The Mass Effect 3 N7 Weapons are looking dangerously similar to the Mass Effect 2 DLC Weapons, and i'm certain that these weapons were just based of the Mass Effect 2 counterparts, and were slightly edited and given a new texture.
About the Alliance Weapons , all weapons seem to be create by private companies who seem to deliver to various nations, the only two weapons i could find that were created specificly for the Alliance  are the M-5 Phalanx and the M-12 locust:

I think the SMG and the Sniper, while very simmilar, look sufficiently different

Well, it's not like I'm buying the CE just because of the guns. Which looks pretty neat, by the way. I want that FENRIS mech. It looks so cute when it's not trying to zap me.

And the DLC character, of course.

I am curious if the modifications to those guns are exclusive or if they're simply the modded versions of the normal guns with N7 skins, though.

BioWare has stated there is no CE DLC Character - the presence of The Prothean character on the picture is a legacy and no longer part of the CE.

I really hope they're not lying...

Anyway, apart from the sniper, they're all spitting images and I can't see how people don't see it. The sniper... only the central body is the same, everything else has been changed.

Where is this CE picture everybody keeps referencing?

Are you saying they are the same or not? I can't really tell

The only one that looks exactly the same to me is the Phalanx and the N7 pistol(which this could be for lore reasons as, iirc the Phalanx was actually developed by the Alliance)

The SMGs, while a similar overall design have quite a few small differences that add up to make them appear acceptably different(also the Locust was also developed by the alliance originally as well iirc)

The 2 Shotguns have roughly the same body but the barrel and the grip both seem sufficiently modified.

The only real similarity between the Incisor and the N7 is that they have the same body, almsot every other part is changed.

So are they similar? Yes, but not overly so imo.

I just hope they're good. Yet not TOO good for those people who don't have them.

The DLC weapons in ME2 were the only weapons I used once I got them. Hopefully they will make a huge difference between the variety of weapons.

I'm curious to see how the SMG will apply since everyone will probably pass it up to take on the assault rifle. Maybe cause it to damage shields like no other?

I loved the SMG -- that is only when I got the locust. Amazing weapon. It probably became my favorite actually -- even beating out the assault rifles. I would love to use the SMG but if I have the opportunity to choose weapon X or a stronger weapon X I'm probably going to be choosing the stronger weapon.

The models for the N7 gear is obviously based on the DLC models - For clarity.

Hmm, I like that name... "Clarity".

Yeah but I don't see the bit about the DLC character being a prothean anywhere. How did that rumor arise?

It used to say there was a Day 1 DLC and mentioned a Prothean

1. No they look absolutely differently, except the handgun might look slightly the same.
2. from experience I know BIOWARE "DLC day one weapon" are crap to use in game. It will only last about 6 hours. Then it is basically useless. But, I'm going the buy the N7 version anyway. Because, I'm a collector and I want to support BIOWARE.
3. I like the sniper and shotgun they look badass.

I think it has been removed but I definitely remember Game.co.uk mentioning something to do with prothean DLC. I don't think it explicitly said it was a character though.

It's because the DLC was referred to by the name "The Prothean".

I'm still a little confused about the DLC character, though. Is there one or not?

Found this thread:

http://social.biowar...index/7561336/1

There is a post in it that seems to explain it:

No it's true, it appeared on the description of the Collector's Edition on the new EA Origin website, but they have now removed that specific line, on the Mass Effect website as well. Guess it was meant to be a surprise. ^^

Actually, nope... Bioware person dropped by in another thread (might have been Chris Priestly I think) and said that was scrapped awhile ago but they forgot to delete the text for it.

Perhaps that's true, but I definently remember seeing DLC content called "The Prothean" on Game.co.uk, but I checked and it has indeed been removed.

Perhaps it's an idea that got scrapped.
