Mass Effect 3 didn't win anything.

Thoughts?

Boohoo?

Like all those E3 impression awards matter. Or like any award in games matters these days.

Simply means that Bioware marketing didn't put on the best show at E3. Since no one can actually play the game right now, all people had was a few canned demos.

Awards in gaming are just as pointless as in movies. Exacly the same.

Number of awards won ≠ quality of the product
It's only used for marketing so you can slap "64 oscar nominations' on the billboard.

And to clarify - not that I think ME3 showcase was award worthy.

Personally, I have virtually no interest in Bioshock Infinite or Battlefield 3... so what do these awards mean to me? They mean I have different taste than critics. That's... pretty much it.

ME3 didn't really deserve to win anything, based off of their complete E3 showing. It played and looked exactly like ME2, and it was outclassed by the other games. No one will give ME3 the RPG award over Skyrim, or the Shooter award over Bioshock Infinite or BF3. Not that it really means anything though... big games like Uncharted 3 also didn't win any awards.

Fair enough.

What was shown was - and not trying to troll, or start a flame war, just an observation - very shooter focused. Very combat heavy. Which means it didn't have enough to break away from that very cluttered pack.

Wouldn't be concerned though.

I don't pay any attention to critics - I have my own brain that I can use to form my own opinions.

It's revolutionary.

To me, handing out awards for previews and demos seems a bit like handing out awards for the best movie trailer, or Spring Training/Preseason MVPs. Sure, you could, I guess... but why? Who cares?

Bioshock Infinite, Bioshock Infinite, Skyrim, Bioshock Infinite, Bioshock Infinite, Battlefield 3, Bioshock Infinite.

Meh.. not too surprised... Skyrim is the RPG of 2011 and ME3's delayed release probably pushed the focus m ore on Skyrim.

That and it seems that Bioshock Infinite is grabbing most of the awards from review sites.

Personally, I'm fine with that.

so Bioshock infinite will crash mass effect 3? the problem is that it will release Feb, 1st, 2012. ME 3 is March 6, 2012. so about a month, Bioshock infinite will be sold ton. but I don't care. I will grab both games anyway. I love bioshock games.

Err...No wonder. Mass Effect stood up on that stage and introduced ME3 voice commands with Kinect. Boring. You act like a ****** saying a line then Shepard says something different. Seriously? I thought it was the most useless thing for Kinect yet. I'd rather just click the A button.

Like Mr. Kusy said E3 awards don't mean anything, they are based on what was shown during the show and frankly ME3 only showed a few combat improvements which isn't worth winning awards for.

It was still one of the top games of E3 and giving the popularity of ME3 media from E3 it will be a HUGE hit. So I'm not worried.

Awards in gaming may mean nothing....but whether you want to believe it or not....it does in film.

Not surprised than ME did not get any awards considering during E3 they did not actually show that much whereas those that got the awards had tons on show.

I expect the awards to come in when it is later on in the marketing plan for Mass Effect 3 because of more information being around for critics to really gauge if its going to be really good or not (too me its obvious how ME3 is going to be which is AWESOME)

Here Be Greasy Palms...

But seriously it don't matter. Only the wallet vote matters and mine is for Mass Effect 3.

Games that don't have playable demos aren't eligible for awards.

This year's E3 was full of great game, I'm actually looking forward to Battlefield 3, Bioshock Infinite, Skyrim, ect. so yes Mass Effect was overshadowed by the humongous number of potential GOTY this year.

Actually, I think that for us, gamers, it is a good thing.

Seeing how much Mass Effect development team cares about various awards and nominations and proudly presents them on Facebook, Twitter, official website, etc...

(remeber this and other images posted few weeks ago?)

... I think that this may serve as good motivotor to work even harder and be more even more creative. So I am optimistic. :)

They will probably win awards when the game actually ships out.

I'm sure they will.

Can't wait!

Bah, a year ago people were saying Duke Nukem was going to blow all other games out of the water. So far this year nothing has yet come out that is overly impressive (save Portal 2 I suppose).
