For the same reason peole in real life are like "I'm so totally cool with the bi/homosexuals! (As long as none of MY friends is one!)"

No, it really doesn't.

Those arguments in favor of S/S are inherently honest.  I have extremely strong doubts that those against it are.

I'm surprised some "totally not a homophobe, I just don't want 'those people' around my... continuity, yeah, continuity" poster hasn't suggested something like a whole separate version of the game for homosexuals. Really, it's not a far cry from some of the ridiculous ideas I see thrown around.

Liara is not a lesbian. I really wish people would stop saying that. If confronted by her and Kaidan in ME, and you choose Liara, Kaidan makes a comment that he didn't know Shepard was into other women. Liara then comments that she isn't exactly a woman. Which means she is not a lesbian.

Liara is not a lesbian... because she's bisexual. The attraction to men is a big 'not lesbian' sign.

Everyone has their own reasons. Are some homophobic? Sure. Ignorant? Sure. Worried about the writing? Sure.

For my part, I feel the same way about s/s for ME1/2 characters as I felt when I learned Garrus and Tali were romance options. It was less about continuity and more "Will they handle these romances well?" Actually, I feel the same way about any new romance in ME3, regardless of what gender they'll be open to.

I'm looking forward to the s/s romances. I'm looking forward to the new romances. I'm looking forward to the conclusion of the old romances. And all I want is for all of them to be written well. Since no information has been given out on how these will work, it's normal to be a little worried.

Of course, that doesn't mean people should make a ton of threads about it. And it doesn't excuse those posts that are inherently homophobic.

You're biased.Image IPB

I believe those are against it are inherently honest also.  But I don't see many people that are against s/s i think they are against the ideas of character in ME 1 & 2 turning bi just to appease a small fanbase.

I don't see how adding a homosexual romance for say... Ashley or Kaiden, for example... would be any different than the romance added for Tali or Garrus. There was no indication that Tali or Garrus were attracted to humans in ME1, yet they were romance options in ME2. Did that break continuity? How is this any different at all? "Homosexuality is unnatural!" you say? Ah, that's probably your real motivation, but... is having sex with a space lizard or whatever is in Tali's suit so much more "natural" to you guys? They are simply OPTIONS, afterall, and they don't have to be taken.

They were planned for the first two games but cancelled before lockdown. That's why.

There is already an existing SS Romance thread.
