Wolf Creek... I got about half an hour into it and couldn't watch anymore. It's a horror film based on a true story in Australia and it's so creepy. I could still hear the screams from the other room as my brother watched the rest of it... :(

I've watched Human Centipede. Twice, actually, because my friend wanted to see it. There's just a feeling of emptiness when you're done with it.

This is pretty soft compared to some of the others I've seen, but I was young when I watched 'Signs' and that birthday scene scared the crap out of me. Still creeps me out today.

Mine seems so mild compared to you guys'. This may be because I have an aversion to horror films. They are not my cup of tea.

My most traumatic movie experience as a child: When that crazy cultist man ripped that guy's heart out in Indy Jones: Temple of Doom.

As an adult: In Signs, when they are showing the news report from some South American country (iirc), where there is nothing, nothing, then from behind a bush strides an alien, that looks directly at the camera. I slept with the lights on for days.

This is largely because I have a massive, pervasive phobia of gray-type aliens, and while Signs' aliens were not grays, they still had the creepy ass ****ing eyes. The eyes are what kill me. I can't even look at sketches of grays anymore without a panic attack. I was unphased by them up until my early teens, then suddenly had nightmares after a 'documentary' on them (if you can call it that, considering the subject matter) that lasted for over a week and that was it. Phobic ever since. Still love Signs. Just have to look away at some parts. :P

Edit: *actually reads the post above hers* Oh, so I'm not the only one the birthday scene bothered.

When the Xenomorph bursts out of John Hurt's chest in Alien was pretty disturbing the first time I saw it as a kid, also the, "Singing in the Rain," scene from a Clockwork Orange. The arm wrestling scene in Cronenberg's Fly remake bugged me too, though I'm not sure why, I've seen worse.

The fingernail scene in "The Fly" is one of many good candidates from that most excellent and disturbing film.

No. For the sake of my sanity and my already terrible sleep defecit because of MMORPGs, I basically swore off any alien movies that involve creepy eyed aliens, or just the outside chance of seeing a gray.

Lots of stuff from "The Shining". The brief glimpses of the murdered girls in the hallway juxtaposed with their ghostly apparations appearing to Danny Torrance. The silent flood of blood coming from the elevators. "Redrum". Jack chasing Wendy with the axe. Wendy 'reading' Jack's 'novel'. The ghostly bartender and bathroom attendant. Jack's image in the 1920s party photo. So many creepy scenes. LOVED that movie.

The scene where the poor man is hit in the face with a bottle...

That bothered me SO bad!

I can't watch event horizon alone.  Its not really too bad, it just freaks me out when I'm alone.

Robo cop absolutely traumatized me.  My aunt was a teenager when I was 4 or 5 (I'm 25 now) and worked at a video store.   I remember when they started killing Murphy, I jumped on her bed, hid under the pillows, and BAWLED.  I couldn't bare it.  I guess she thought I could handle it, because I thought all the violence in Indiana Jones was cool.  My husband is a big robo cop fan, and we watched it recently, I still don't like it.  I didn't hide and cry, but man its rough.

Since I've already given away my generation...  THE LION KING.  They always get back up right?  Mufasa didn't.  A different aunt took me and my cousin.  I will NEVER forget the theater full of screaming, crying, devestated children, including myself.

Oh!  And the ring!  I was SO not expecting to see the mangled chick in the closet all f**ed up like that.  My friend Allen and me went to see it at the movies.  Thats the only thing that has ever given me nightmares.

I must have watched Event Horizon when I was twelve or thirteen and I'd have to say it shook me up a little. It's hard to pick out one particular scene, since there were so many...the "crew log" scene, the "visions of hell" scenes, or the repeated appearances of Dr. Weir's wife who's missing her eyes.

I doubt I'd use the word 'traumatize' to describe anything I've seen in a movie, but I guess The Birds was pretty creepy.

yes i forgot about that one!

I saw this at a film festival and the entire audience was scared - my heart was racing each time the protagonists attempted to hide from these grotesque, blind creatures.

later I watched it on blu-ray and it wasn't quite as scary the second time, but still an excellent film.

I don't watch horror movies. The commercial for one of the Child Play movies gave me nightmares so I never tried to sneak scary films as a kid.

Strangely enough, as an adult, I watched Ju-On and Audition, but didn't find them horrific.

I try to avoid the really disturbing kinds of movies but I thought the little girl, Samara, in The Ring was pretty darn creepy.

The only thing that ever really gave me nightmares as a child wasn't a movie, it was a ride at Disneyland. That giant pink squid that attacks at the end of the submarine ride... I swear I still have nightmares about it sometimes. Stupid squid.

ET.

Yeah, you heard me right. Children's movie? Horse apples. That little guy scared the living hell out of me when I was a child. Took me years to stop having nightmares where he'd chase me around. The scene where Elliot encounters ET in the cornfield kept me awake for nights.

More recently? Ju-On. Only horror film where I wasn't able to sleep after watching it.

Mufasa's death from Lion King.

Horrors are boring. At least today horrors. Loot of blood, meat and stuff. Just like horror games. They are poor, stupid and not scary. One of the best horrors i ever played: Amnesia: The dark descent.

Have you played STALKER? If you can make it through Lab X18 without a minor heart attack, well, you are stronger willed than I ;)
