on a side note, is the xbox version only 1 dvd? isn't that a bit small for this game?

A leaked version will always be an inferior product. That's especially true with the expected flow of DLC that'll make some people actually want to get the real deal.

AFAIK console games are smaller compared to the same PC games because PC games have setups for different settings and thus extra data.

It really is a shame you dont need some DLC to get past the starting origins? At this point I can see gaming companies being totaly entitled to that course of action.

What really confuses me though is if a server hosting company leases out space to someone who uses it for criminal activities such as distributing pirated software; Is that host not somehow legally responsible for the crimes being committed? They are after all profiting from the crime. And would that not make them want to cooperate by releasing relevant info to investigators would could then sue the people instigating the crime for damages and cost incurred?

People surely understand that piracy is wrong, however not all people just download the game. Most of the people download a game, try it and buy it if they like it.

I doubt that that's true, but even if it is using filesharing services at all means that they're helping lots of people to get the game for free.

They should be glad it's just the 360 version, though. With how complicated it is, very few people pirate 360 games. If it was the pc version, however...There'd likely be well over 100,000 people downloading it right now.

I don't believe they will be glad of anything. IMHO this thread should be deleted and we should not discuss this on these boards.

Not every country has the same laws as the US. Not all hosting companies want to spend the money to investigate potential piracy. Not all hosting companies will intrude on their paying clients privacy without sufficient proof. Besides that, in most cases the hosting company can't be held liable for what get hosted on their clients sites. At least not right away. I'm sure EA could send some sort of letter threatening legal action, but even then, it takes time.

Very true. Its just a matter of time though. Given the pre-load option EA is offering, I would bet it shows up sometime on Sunday.

I'll be surprised if a torrent of the PC version isn't up before tomorrow.

Torrent sites are only indexing torrents and have no illegal software on their servers. So its really a grey area.

The reason consoles sell better than pc is because not everyone will mod their console so they can play illegal games, it's much easier on pc. I also read somewhere that if the pc version of DAO doesn't do well bioware would stop making pc games and ME2 would most likely be delayed much longer for the PC because of it.

It's not uncommon games are leaked on the net before they officially come out so overall I don't think it will matter that much. I still predict that DA will sell over 3 million units by january.

In reality, people make far too big a deal of piracy. The fact is that most piracy occurs to 1, try the game out to see if you like it, then buy it. Or 2, because the person can't afford the game in the first place. Therefore, if they didn't pirate it, they wouldn't have bought it anyway. So the company loses no money. Sure, I believe Bioware deserves the money for this game, and I think everyone should pay for it. But I also try to understand other people's motives before jumping to the conlcusion "Wah, they're just selfish evil game-stealers!" And you cannot deny that most people who so passionately condemn piracy are only bitter because they don't know how to pirate games.

Sadly, that's true...

Only a matter of time for the pc version... Well, I hope people who download it decide to buy the game (an optimistic thought here).

That is so far from wrong. I think its more because there are a bunch of 10 year olds out there that want easy access to games rather then having to use a complicated computer. All they have to do is put the disc in, pickup the controller and everything works fine.

Maybe in your perfect world thats how it works but I would say the majority of people pirate because they can.

In before the lock..

Anyway.. Even if this is leaked on the PC, I have a feeling the game will still sell HUGE!

Xbox 360 games are nearly -always- leaked a few days ahead of release. As opposed to PC games that actually can take anything from a few hours after release to days depending on the copy-protection.

In any case it's about as easy to pirate for the Xbox 360 as it is for the PC, so I wouldn't believe the saying that it's strictly a PC problem. I'd say it's almost as wide-spread for consoles as it is for PC's. It's just that it's not as noticable.

And no, it'll probably not affect sales at all. I want to download this but I have a pre-order on a collectors' edition on my PC so I'll wait for a couple of days more :)

I'm pretty sure a lot of people with games pre-ordered would DL it just so they could play it a couple of days earlier, haha. I know I'd be really tempted to if there was a PC version out!

Apparently, DA for the 360 has now been pirated by 150 to 200 people. This long after being leaked, The sims 3 for the pc was at about 300,000 downloads. Seems fairly noticeable to me...

I know this sucks but you aren't making it better by posting this on the forums.

It might only be a couple of people, but some reading here might get an idea they otherwise wouldn't. Especially if you link to god damn usenet search engines -.-
