Going blind untill I get stuck. usually in some quest/mission I can't figure out, then I spoil myself and try to keep it at that mission.

Not that it usually is a problem in ME...

Personal rule of thumb for me that I seem to share with many people on the forums: First play through is a blind run. I know I'm gonna miss something, but it's why I enjoy the first play through. I know nothing about the game and it's exciting.

Second and the others after that, it's spoiler city.

You wont have to worry about that in ME3

What do you mean by that?

My first playthrough is usually blind, but my "canon" playthrough is never my first. I want to play my main Shepards' story as I want it, including the outcomes of decisions. As long as I can give in-character reasons for the decisions I make, I don't mind using foreknowledge.

That's how it is with me. I keep all of the major decisions from my initial blind run intact and make slight modifications for the minor decisions in subsequent playthroughs.

Short list of changes I've made:

* Not give the Cerberus data to the Shadow Broker
* Gave Ish data to Anto (Didn't know I could do that in first playthrough)
* Killed the assassins out to get Patriach
* Corrected all the decisions I made because I meta-gamed like not letting Miranda kill Niket or arresting Ronald Taylor because I didn't think I'd get the loyalty of those characters otherwise and not because it was in-character for my Shepard.

Charge in blind, it the only way!
But I'm slightly worried about the different endings and my first playthough is my canon...

Who in their right mind would spoil their story when they play it for the first time? I think the answer is self-evident. Seriously I dunno why someone would ruin the entire game just to get "perfection". And it's not really perfection if you saw how to do something and when and what to do.

Similarly I'm not going to be importing a perfect run of ME1 and ME2. Unfortunately I will have to recreate my saves since I lost them but I'll re-do everything I did when I first played the games.

Blind run.
It's not like a guide is needed anyway; BioWare games aren't known for their abundance of secrets, or mutual exclusive paths, nor do they make it easy for the player to screw him or herself over.
Mind you, this isn't a bad thing.

First Playtrough: Just do it without any outside help(guides, forum,...)
Second Playtrough: Use guide to get perfection if I didn't get 'perfection' in first playtrough
Third Playtrough: Without any outside help (guides, forum, ...)

Uh, don't know how to tell you this, but...

This is the last game.

There there, no crying.

not for perfection but to insure no one dies unless it's a plotline death

then I'll go for perfection on my 4th or 5th playthrough

There's a good chance that Bioware will continue the Mass Effect franchise after ME3. It just wont have Shepard in it. It's possible that we will still be able to import our ME3 saves for background info.
(The above is my personal take on things and in no way represents actual or future plans.)
Oh, and my first play through (for any RPG) is always blind. Keeps me on my toes.

Yeah, this is probably the closest I get. Not perfect, but I prefer no personal man/woman get left behind.

Have gun, will travel. I will put on my stompers and do me some stomping, guns balzing, blind as a bat on round one. After that, I do not mind doing to read ups and all of that. I find that a lot of the options for paragon/renegade - although written in english - are not at all what I thought they would be based upon the hints.

Most of the time you have to read what the devs wrote in order to figure out what they really meant. Take for instance the "Hold the Line" scenario. I could not have figured that out without Pacifen's help and the guidance of quite a few other awesome players.

First game is always blind. Then I'll start working for achievements and perfection (or what I consider perfection).

Since I'm a completionist I always go for a perfect playthrough, but I wont cheapen it by using a guide... I mean really who does that?

My first play-through is usually just a test for myself. I certainly try to do every mission available, but I generally look at my first play-through as a chance to make mistakes. Of course, I usually shoot for perfection on my subsequent play-throughs. I had to use guides on ME1 just because there were so many side-missions and many had to be actively sought out and you couldn't just stumble across. I hope ME3 is more like that, as the N7 missions in ME2 were just boring.

Depense about game.

ME serie I play with mistakes, so yeah not looking perfection. ME serie is very easy and simple to play, so you can't really make many mistakes at all. Only thing what you can do is miss some optional side mission content and that isn't big deal.

my blind first play-through is canon transfer of my first attempts at ME1 and 2. it just so happens that everyone survived the SM in ME2, but i dont think that means perfection for ME3. second play-though is a renegade run without outside help. any others are just for fun but i wont try to play out all conclusions.  i'll just look up other outcomes on youtube since there's supposed to be a lot of them *fingers crossed*

First playthrough I go in with my Manshep and make my own choices, usually paragon
2nd Playthrough is Femshep tearing people apart with her femme fatale renegade actions.

Anything afterwards is to look at the story through a different angle or to pick a choice I haven't done yet. Overall I go blind and I go in hard

First run is blind, making the decisions as they come. I usually consider it my "purest" playthrough but following runs will be the paragon/renegade runs as the character demands. I'll end with my personal canon playthroughs. And if I'm really feeling the need, I'll go all the way back to ME1 to get the most perfect playthrough of all three games I can.
