I feel as thought after the collectors , the Protheans are completley empty on in game importance.

I want to know more about them. Here is a list over time I have complied.

What was their homeworld? Is it even in this Galaxy?
Why couldn't the Reapers use them for a new Reaper?
What did they acually look like?
Does bioware plan on telling us more about them or was their depth only as far as what happened to them in the collector sense.
Was the collector base really a collector consturct or perhaps a redesigned Prothean ship, station, etc.
What did they know about us and the hannar & other species they studied?
Were they really the only spacefaring species(sounds hard to beleive)
Did they war? Were they a strickly scientitst race due to their physcial strucutre of tentcals or what we seem to know what they might look like?

Do you guys feel like the Protheans have no other say in this series & now that we know what happened to them and why they are no longer any value to us?

I am really hoping they are included in this series.

Have you played ME1 yet? It answers some of your questions.

So do you want to know even more about them or do you want them to play a larger role somehow in ME3, whether that comes in the form of some hidden piece of Prothean info we have yet to discover or (unlikely) of a living Prothean?

I for one would really like it if the Protheans play a bigger role in ME3, as in something integral to the survival of the galaxy, rather then just an example of what happens when Shepard fails, which is pretty much the role they're playing at this point.

Both. I want them to have some involvment in ME3. To have them be so crucial for the whole series and then just fall of the map in the last game would be dissapointing.  I wouldn't mind a character, location, tool, something. Perhaps a prototype of something or a schematic. Any atleast small importance is worth it to me.

I'm pretty sure I read or heard somewhere that the Protheans aren't out of the story yet. I don't know how much more important they will be, though.

And no, it doesn't "feel as if the Protheans were forgotten."

Assuming it's done properly, I'd like some more exposition on the Protheans. But I'm not gonna hold my breath, since we're now in the final act of the trilogy, and we barely even have had any exposition on our enemy of all things.

Oh, and no. Protheans are not forgotten to me.

This is really my point. We had known so little about them still after 2 games and with the Reapers who'm all want to know everything about are now here and exposed we want to fill up on them & to me I feel that the ME community has kinda let them fall to wayside or not be of much concern as their are much bigger things then a civilaztion before ours's past.

I think the Protheans are meant to be a bit mysterious, I mean we only have the statues on Ilos as an idea of their appearance. In the ME2 codex entry the picture is a huskified version of the statues on Ilos. As far as the Reapers inability to make a Reaper out of them I'm assuming it's their DNA since when they Reaperised the humans they were dissolved into a genetic paste.

I'm assuming the Protheans will be re-addressed in ME3 since there are rumours of a (cancelled) Prothean DLC squad member. Could be that Bioware have moved him/her from DLC only to a full squadmate.

My mistake then. From your post it sounded like you only played ME2 and associated Protheans only with the Collectors.

As far as the Collectors go, they werent actual protheans, they were mostly the enslaved protheans that were modified and either cloned or bred into a new species as well as being indoctrinated to serve the purpose of the Reapers, so the Collectors only represent a small portion of the protheans, and even then, they are highly modified and indoctrinated.

I... don't know if I read you right, but we still know sh!t about the Reapers as well. Even less than about the Protheans.

I am aware. I am saying that all we know is that the collectors were their fate

Also to the post about not knowing about the Reapers yes, we already know so little about the protheans and reapers, but now all the focus seems to be on the reapers.

For me i've always had some thoughts that somewhere, there are protheans still living. If you go back to the time in ME1 when you spoke to vigil nothing was known of what happened to the remaining protheans that changed the signal for the keepers on the citadel! Maybe just maybe they survived and found a new planet not discovered by the reapers and started to slowly rebuild? who knows maybe i'm just being hopeful :)

You can't repopulate a species with only a dozen individuals.

Focus has always been about the Reapers. Honestly, the protheans are nothing but a cuationary tale, just one more species in a long list of species to have been wiped out by the reapers. They are only relevant to the story because they are the last species to have been wiped. They were vital for the ME1 story, but their importance has been less since then, because we have moved on in the story from trying to figure out what is going on, to preventing it ourselves. And honestly, it didnt work so well for the protheans, so there shiouldnt be a need to delve deeper into a failed species, other then to learn what NOT to do. (although the Council seems to have gone and done it anyway).

I don't imagine we'll ever know. The Protheans were just one more civilization in the list of those lost to the cycle. While they alerted the current civilization to the Reapers, pretty much everything about them was destroyed in the last cycle so it is unlikely we'll ever find out a lot about them.

You don't know the reproduction rate :) Look at the krogans they have insane repopulation rate, well did have anyways.

Reproduction rate has nothing to do with it. Refer to high school biology.

I do see your point, but it seems as if the Protheans were the most advanced civilization in the cycle creating their own mini mass relay which is a phenominal pheat of the Reapers. They had technology that we could not understand even. They postponed the Reapers to what may be more then 1 or 2 thousans years according to the Reapers supposedly supose to be coming around the time of the Rachnai War.

So just because our biology makes it so thats all that can be right? That's cool i thought this was a game of endless possibilites not human only. Can't be bothered to argue about it, the whole point of my first post was, there was a possibility i don't know and nor' do you so lets leave it at that :)

Yeesh, the Cipher. Can we forget that we ever had to deal with it? Please?
