I'm not suggesting BW introduce frustrating or mindless achievements (ME1 had a lot of the latter), but hopefully some achievements that encourage multiple-play throughs, as with other games.

You barely had to do anything out of your way to get ME2's achievements. They didn't really give you anything.
ME1 wins. I want more in that regard. But this time, instead of just gamerpics, lets get some avatar awards, lets get some in game bonuses, etc etc

Too much one is boring, too much of the other becomes an insanely obnoxious grind.

Mass Effect 2 was no harder but none of these are even close to being "achievements", some of ME2's DLC achievements nonwithstanding. You want to see some actual things that are even close to difficult to achieve, or require some intent beyond just using a power look at Hexic, Super Meat Boy, Trials HD, Brutal Legend, Dead Rising 2 or Dead Space 2. Some of those achievements need to be worked at, can take hours or days to finish or require precise planning.
Claiming that achievements should be things that need to be achieved sounds so simple and so logical until people refuse to buy it because they can't get their 1000 gamerscore or have no proof that they've done things, be they quests, or killing a boss, or even beating the game. Mass Effect so far has been par for the course in regards to achievements on the landscape of gaming today. It's not a movie game, it's not the Avatar: Burning Earth, and it's also not Assassin's Creed or Soul Calibur 4. It's a healthy middle ground and those nonsense "Use X 100 times" things can still exist, can still give bonuses but can be marked as challenges or something.

As snarky as that sounds, you have a valid point.
Are achievements worthless? No, but I do get the "Thank goodness I got it!" feeling.
I remember going against the Reaper on Insanity at the end and got it down to 5% armor. I had used about all of every damn gun. (Saved the beam for last). Of course, I beat it, but there have been lots of times where I got that close and failed; so, you best be damned I felt like I earned that achievement because for me, it was NOT easy despite being a Sentinel.
Level of worth varies from player to player as ME3 could have the most difficult achievements and people would say that they were easy. This is no different than "elitists" boasting how they beat a game in 5 minutes opposed to those who beat it in five hours. I'm not saying that none of us here are "elitists," but all things are difficult before they are easy.
Which is why I can understand why ME1's set was a grind it out affair because those achievements (Power/Extreme Gamer) were in fact too easy. ME2's level 30 cap was too easy as well, but the challenge was in how you got there which made it's leveling system more meaningful.
I don't mind what they come up with because they'll too seem like they were not-challenging, but again that varies from player to player. The "do X, Y amount of times" isn't challenging, but how many though that ME1's "use power 75 times" was because you thought it meant as in "to kill enemies?" Only to find out how easy it was because you just had to aim at an object, perod? ME2 was different though the quanity was reduced, you had to destroy somethng animate wether it be an enemy or type of shield.
Achievements seem to be easier because games are getting easier - or for the most part - players are making them look alot easier. So, what do the devs do? They make you play longer or make what appear to be "shorter games harder." I, too, get the feeling that it's more of an appeal issue more than anything else. (ie: Characters' being compromised. "Vanguards are beasts on Casual, but suck on Insanity while a Sentinel has no damn business in this game, period!")
Lack of appeal =/= worthlessness; however, what more is there after you get them besides, the resulting satisfaction after having got them?

I just hope this will be another easy 1000/1000 for me.

Mass Effect 2's achievements were pretty much perfect, perhaps decrease the amount of points for story-related achievements and make more achievements that require a little more work (but no tedium).

I've got two more to go in ME2 before a get a "completed game" (no DLC)
