Given the frequency with which its asked about and the tendency EA has to love making money, I'd be surprised if it didn't happen before ME3. But right now, there's no news or actual proof. But it seems like the kind of thing they'd throw out during the holidays.

The current situation is quite peculiar, as the game's DLC now costs 3 times the price of the core game. Something's gotta give, I say. :|

I think you're aiming too high
Maybe you should be asking
"Any chance of an announcement of a Mass Effect 2 "Ultimate Edition" soon?"

If they bring one out (with the story "DLC" on disc and playable without an internet connection) then I will buy

I would love a "ultimate edition" of ME2, if it happens I will buy it for friends that not have played ME2.
Buy the regular ME2 without the DLCs feels like they will miss out on some things...

If they release an ultimate edition, I hope they'd atleast tag on the PS3 interactive comic.

I would totally buy this, I have been holding back on the DLC because of what they did with Dragon Age, I got all the free stuff and stuff from my collectors edition. But I'd like to see the payed stuff and the unobtainable stuff like pre-order bonuses etc be released for PC and 360 via a N7 complete pack like on PS3. Or have an Ultimate edition released. Mass Effect 3 is getting ever closer and those that got hold of exclusive stuff have had plenty of time with it. And like a previous poster said it's getting to the point where some of the DLC is more expensive than the core game. A bundle that let's everyone who hasn't played yet get their hands on everything, and also allow overseas people who couldn't get things like Terminus pack and the Dr Pepper promos etc to get them finally and make the completists and collectors happy would be a damn fine idea!

DLC is indeed overpriced, paid for the game and do not intend to spend more on DLC, as a fact won't spend a dime unless they release an overall upgrade pack or lower the price of that dlc. I miss the time when you use to buy the game and actually get the whole game. Nowadays early adopters who makes the success of a game and pay it full price (lunch price are higher) are often rip off with later more complete release...

Posting in thread relevant to my interests.

You might also note which version of Dragon Age I own, and whether or not I own ME2.

Hint.

What time was that, liquid043?

I've been gaming since 1986, and it wasn't true in any period between 1986 and 2011, so did it happen in an alternate universe, or something? Even back in 1992 I can remember people whining and moaning about expansion packs because it meant that they "didn't get the whole game", and it was pretty silly then.

Also, back in the '90s, you were lucky if an adventure game or RPG had 20 hours of real content playing through everything, where ME2 has easily 40 hours in a single play-through, so to pretend you're getting less for your money is crazy. Especially given how much more expensive producing all the art, graphics, sound, voices and so on for a modern game.

There's DLC that's worth complaining about - Horse Armour for Oblivion was a good example, and indeed the extra character DLC for DA2 was another, because he clearly was part of the game that was trimmed off and then made into DLC (presumably he was trimmed as they already had one archer), but I don't think any of ME2's DLC fits the "should have been part of the game" model very well - LotSB was clearly developed much later, due to it's superior quality and techniques, and Arrival you could whine about being "tacked-on" or having a crap plot, but not that it "should have been included in ME2".

To be clear, it's fine to not buy DLC. It's just ridiculous intellectually lazy posing to pretend there was ever a time in post-1990 gaming when there weren't expansion-packs and add-ons and other optional content which cost extra, or that ME2 is an offender when it comes to "should have been in the game" DLC. Save your outrage for genuinely bad DLC.

All that said, ME2 needs an Ultimate Edition, needs it bad. It has so MUCH DLC that it would encourage sales significantly. I'll be surprised if we don't see one within two months of ME3's release (either direction).

First and foremost expansion pack and dlc are different, while one can be the other, expansion have brought a good amount of gameplay while dlc are often only an hour or two long.

In the console world from the Snes to the PS2 you were able to have 40 some hour of gameplay and that was it you had the whole package.

I'm not pretending having less for my money, i know cost are higher (market is also larger), what i don't like is not having the full experience/story in a game before the next chapter. It's not a concern of money, i wouldn't mind paying 75$ for a new game if it's mean having the full experience.

I have nothing against DLC as long as they are optional in order to get the experience. Mass effect always have been marketed as trilogy, so the story must have had some guideline so why not make it complete story wise between each game. You want extra mission, weapon, map or side story fine, just don't make it mandatory to the main plot, especially in a game when the story is that important between every game (previous decision impact future game).

I don't have a link, but I am pretty sure they announced that there would be no Uber Edition. Sorry. Things can always change though. That said, the collector's edition looks like a steal... 20 dollars more for tons of stuff, I'd definitely get it while you can.

This thread pertains to the hopes for an announcement of Mass Effect 2 equivalent of Dragon Age Origin's Ultimate Edition (IE, one that includes all of the DLC).

Oh, my bad!  Ignore what I said then.  I wish you guys luck then.  It makes sense, in my opinion!  Mass Effect 2 had the best DLC for any game I've ever played, so it would definitely be a great deal.

I'm glad I got the Mass Effect DLC when it was brand new... enjoyed all of it from day one!

In fact, Overlord (my second favorite ME DLC) was released on my birthday!   Can't get much better than that.

Well I want to play my Shepards through Shadowbroker and Arrival before ME3 and can't because I don't have a home internet connection
(stolen memory, overlord would also be nice and...)
(PS3 shadowbroker doesn't count because I can't import into it)
