The waiting is driving me crazy. Come on Bioware anounce something!
Any chance of a Mass Effect 2 "Ultimate Edition" soon?

DLC is indeed overpriced, paid for the game and do not intend to spend more on DLC, as a fact won't spend a dime unless they release an overall upgrade pack or lower the price of that dlc. I miss the time when you use to buy the game and actually get the whole game. Nowadays early adopters who makes the success of a game and pay it full price (lunch price are higher) are often rip off with later more complete release...
What time was that, liquid043?
I've been gaming since 1986, and it wasn't true in any period between 1986 and 2011, so did it happen in an alternate universe, or something? Even back in 1992 I can remember people whining and moaning about expansion packs because it meant that they "didn't get the whole game", and it was pretty silly then.
Also, back in the '90s, you were lucky if an adventure game or RPG had 20 hours of real content playing through everything, where ME2 has easily 40 hours in a single play-through, so to pretend you're getting less for your money is crazy. Especially given how much more expensive producing all the art, graphics, sound, voices and so on for a modern game.
There's DLC that's worth complaining about - Horse Armour for Oblivion was a good example, and indeed the extra character DLC for DA2 was another, because he clearly was part of the game that was trimmed off and then made into DLC (presumably he was trimmed as they already had one archer), but I don't think any of ME2's DLC fits the "should have been part of the game" model very well - LotSB was clearly developed much later, due to it's superior quality and techniques, and Arrival you could whine about being "tacked-on" or having a crap plot, but not that it "should have been included in ME2".
To be clear, it's fine to not buy DLC. It's just ridiculous intellectually lazy posing to pretend there was ever a time in post-1990 gaming when there weren't expansion-packs and add-ons and other optional content which cost extra, or that ME2 is an offender when it comes to "should have been in the game" DLC. Save your outrage for genuinely bad DLC.
All that said, ME2 needs an Ultimate Edition, needs it bad. It has so MUCH DLC that it would encourage sales significantly. I'll be surprised if we don't see one within two months of ME3's release (either direction).
XD 40 hours of playthrough one of the games creators said he beat me2 in 2 hrs....
but i agree with you, there has been alot of ripping off in the gaming industry. i do hate how nowadays if you wait 4 or 5 months you can get the GOTY edition for the price of preordering and you get all the stuff ( well not the case of me2)

You can beat ME2 in 2 hours if you do a speed run sure, skip all the dialogue and cutscenes, recruit the bare minimum of teammates, avoid unnecessary side quests etc. The point is that the game can provide far more.
On topic I'll be right pissed if I buy the game and all that stuff comes out a few months later so I think I'm going to continue borrowing my cousin's copy until something like that is announced. Hell maybe the only game I'll actually buy will be ME3 and I'll just complete my playthroughs of 1 and 2 until it comes out. I doubt I'm going to be an Engineer or a Sentinel so when I complete my four characters I won't have much reason to own it. Bottom line is if they do announce a master edition of 2 before Mass Effect 3 comes out I'll pick it up, I do want to play the DLC. I wish I had gotten into these games before that giant sale though, all the DLC for 5 bucks is a steal. In the perfect world Bioware will do that again before ME3. One can hope.

Oh my soul. When was that sale? Was it for the PC DLC as well?

A while ago during the holidays I believe. I hadn't heard about it when it was around.

A Mass Effect 2 Ultimate Edition is definitely something I'd purchase.
I just find it neat and tidy to have everything on a disk, don't know why.
Also I'm running out of memory space (Xbox 360), so it would be useful in that way.

Aside: The standard form doesn't seem very iOS friendly. (I was unable to bring up the on screen keyboard or locate the cursor.)
First, I just wanted to chime in that I agree that an ultimate/GotY edition should be made and I think all the preorder items should be included. As I've heard that all weapons will carry over to Mass Effect 3, I will be very disappointed if the M-490 Blackstorm Projector does not show up as DLC. (I'd really love an edition with all 3 games, all past DLC, and a 'subscription'/voucher/waiver to cover all future DLC; with DLC including all bonus/preorder etc items.)
Second, TF141-Archer indicated that there is more playtime in modern games. I disagree. Since Wizardry I, FFI, and DWI till now, I normally spent roughly the same amount of time per playthrough on just about every RPG I've ever played (20-40 hours). That said, Mass Effect hits the lower end of the spectrum (for me, due to mako/scanning) while Fallout breaches the higher end (for me). Note: both are excellent games. Also, playtime is a poor measure of value: playing something unfun for a long time is arguably worse than playing something awesome for a relatively brief period.
