Liara is much more interesting because of the harder edge she'd developed since ME1. I think her character development makes sense, considering the events of Mass Effect 1.

The only thing that creeps me out a little is the way she says "Thanks for coming by!" when you return to the Shadow Broker Base after LotSB is completed.

For me the LotSB romance was the most rewarding one out of all of 'em.
^This^!
She grew as a character in ME2/LotSB and she has a rare piece of dialogue where she asks how Shep feels. Not enough of this around really.

My Adept was the only one that romanced her in ME and he´s a little lost just like me. We´ll see how everything goes with the mission. Maybe he´ll seek her or romance someone else.

I didn't really care as much about the romances in ME2 as I did in ME1,probably because the way they were structured.
In ME2 it's like
"Shepard I'm not really interested in you"
*does Loyalty mission*
"Shepard I have feelings for you now!!!"
I got the feeling most of them only gave Shepard a chance because they felt they owed it to him/her after helping them.
Can't speak for the other ones, but IIRC you can show interest in Thane before his loyalty mission pops, unless I'm completely mistaken. 'Just friends, huh? That's a start.' '...that's... intriguing.'

The writers did a terrible job with her in ME2, and I don't mean her revenge plot (though that was pretty bad as well, imo); I mean the "completely ignoring the romance" part of her character. "I can't talk about our relationship because the Broker might be listening in, but I'll happily discuss with you my plans to kill the Broker!" It made no sense.
By the time LotSB came out it was too little too late for me. I'd already moved on to Kelly and shall remain there unless/until she is similarly ruined in ME3, in which case I hope to move on to Ash. If LotSB had been part of the actual game from the start I may have been able to maintain my interest in Liara as a romance, but those months in between just killed it.

So that aside she's still everything I liked about her in ME1, but now she's stronger, more independent, and quite possibly the most important person in the galaxy, not to mention the bit where she saves your life (so to speak). Now maybe it's just me but that does something for me.

What? Did we play the same LotSB?
She's far less of a "cold-blooded killer" than any other ME2 love interest except Tali. I mean, Thane, literally a cold-blooded killer. Jack. Hahahahaha seriously? Jacob. I bet you he's killed more people than Liara, and never once does he seem remotely broken up about it. He's a well-adjusted killer rather than a cold-blooded one, I guess. Miranda. Definitely a cold-blooded killer, and much more "Terminator-like" than Liara.
I think you guys might still be butt-hurt from that time Liara saw you fall out a window, obviously live, and decided to chase the murderer instead of stay and help you up and let them escape.
All that said, yes, I did lose interest in her in the period between ME2 and LotSB. Only in my second LotSB-era play-through did I choose to get back together with her, having regained interest. First time I just stuck with Thane.

^^That. She was my favorite character in ME, but I just love her after playing ME2. She grew as a character. The only other character that grew to me was Tali.Blansten wrote...
Not at all. If anything I like Liara even more now than I did after ME. I am hoping to see a lot more of her in ME3.

I think Bioware did a good job with Liara and the DLC. Whether she was your LI or not she still cares but after your death she's been focusing her time on finding the Drell and taking out the SB for those 2 years. She's grown use to this, stating how she enjoys being an information broker, and a good one that. She's still that smart scientist we all know, just with a stronger resolve and big guns at the end of the DLC; metaphorically speaking. She would do a good job filling in the Intelligence role the Illusive Man preformed recently for the upcoming ME3.
Romancing your LI every minute of the day doesn't complete the mission.

Yeah I kinda did. I left her for Miranda. I want shep to have human children, but Miranda has that problem I want to go for Kelly or Ashley now.
Have you ever considered the fact that Miranda can't reproduce because she's genetically built/enhanced that Shephard might have the same issue?
And as for LOTSB I thought it did wonders for Liara's other wise dry character and I will stay with her unless the oppurtunity I really want comes along.

I don't think the change was to extreme, it's not the most original story arc, but it was well done.
