I never liked Liara in ME1. But ME2 made me respect her quite a bit, and be more considerate of some of the things that bothered me about her in ME1. She'll never be my romance option, but she got herself upgraded to a good solid friend character.

One thing I particularly loved about Liara, was that in my brother's game he cheated on her with Tali. At the end scene, how she reminisces about it and even seems supportive of the new relationship struck me as incredibly mature. I think there was an expectation of omgcatfight111, and she ended up acting like a real person. I loved that.

On the contrary, I had no interest in Liara in until LOTSB. In ME1 she was always Dr. T'soni, IMO she never had a place in my team of consisting of two soldier's, a hot headed cop, a merc, and a mechanical genuis. I found her meek socially akward personality annoying. Her change in ME2 never bothered me, as I didn't care for the character. I feel that LOTSB made Liara into a strong character, she matured a lot and I actually feel interested in seeing more of her in ME3.

Yeah I kinda did. I left her for Miranda. I want shep to have human children, but Miranda has that problem I want to go for Kelly or Ashley now.

You do know that Miranda can't have children. LOL

And to respond to the OP'S question, I didn't like her as much as I did in ME1, but she still intrested me for a LI. I never cheeted on her.

This concept that a woman should be tossed aside because they can't have kids makes me a sad panda.

Nope, I see a constant character line from ME1 all the way to LotSB and she's still my favourite character and my favourite romance plot. The only thing that's slightly annoying is that the writers in ME2 felt that the new LIs couldn't stand on their own merits so they tried so systematically wreck the old LIs so that more people would cheat on them.

Effective though, lots of people fell into the trap.

You know, if they can bring people back from the dead, you'd think they could help Miranda have some babies.
On-topic, I didn't really think she changed all that much. I always have Kaidan with me, so I get more of Liara's "renegade" comments. She's always the one who says "screw the council!"

I decided to move on because of her cold demur in 2 I couldn't stay with her she'd changed so radically she even wanted to be like Benezia. I'll be friends with her for 3 but we'll never be in a relationship again.

oddly for me I disliked her during ME1 and disliked during ME2 but then I read the comic book series about Liara and oddly it changed my mind on her and actually liked her more (even more than I like Ashley which is not that good nowadays thanks to Horizon)

Nah, i think her development into a ruthless information broker was a little sudden and quite big, but it didn't make me dislike her in any way.

I still prefer Liara over the other LI and i still prefer the old Liara, but my Liara loving shep keeps her as the LI.. :)

I didn't at least with my canon Shep.  She stayed faithful to Liara, but I do have other Shepards that did cheat.  I only did that because I want to see what happens in ME3.

I did forget to add this to my post.....My canon Shep is a paragon doing the hacking for Liara and getting renegade points for it as a tad annoying and broke my heart some, until I understood what was going on, then I loved her more.

I don't think it was that sudden.  It's been two years not two week or a couple of months.  Poeple can change a lot in two years.  Especially if that person is mourning the loss of a loved one and just couldn't let go.  Which is the case with Liara whether or not she was Shepard's LI.

I NEVER liked her in ME1. In ME2, thanks to LotSB she actually grew on me enough for me to consider making another playthrough so I can romance her. In ME1 she was so bland while ME2 added so much to her character :)

I actually became a lot more interested in her character during ME2. I still decided that her romance wasn't for me so when I redid my canon game I didn't romance her, but as a character she grew up on me during LoTSB.

Well, if we don't count the DLC... yeah, I probably would've lost interest. Well, not really lost since I wasn't that interested in her ME1 incarnation.

After playing ME1 with her as a romance then moving into ME2 to get a cold shoulder ... I was not happy, but I realized that she had lost more than anyone (Shepard or the rest of his crew) in the fight against Saren.

She watched her mother die along with individuals that she more than likely knew since she was a little girl (Benezia's Acolytes) and may have seen Shepard kill Shiala who would have known her since infancy.
Cut to watching Shepard die ... Image IPB

Cold? She had lost everything in ME1 into ME2 ... I would have allowed her to be bitter and even throw Shepard's ass out of her office.

Lose interest? No. I wanted to know what my Shepard could do to help her find her way back, if at all possible. I also wondered if maybe she had moved on and was seeing someone new - it had been 2+ years, which drove my Shepard crazy as well. Image IPB

Then came LotSB! Image IPB

In ME1 she was tied with Garrus as my favorite squad-mate. She was my love interest, all that jazz. In ME2 I liked her far less from the interaction in her office on Illium. There was just something much different about her and I definitely missed the awkward, say goofy things Liara from ME1. Too big a character shift.

Then I played LotSB which may be my favorite mission in the game, barring maybe the suicide mission, and liked her a lot again. Granted, she's no longer my favorite squad-mate (Garrus & Mordin take those spots).

The opposite, i liked her even more in M2, she became a strong and independant woman, but still could see how caring and sensible she is, just loved it

I found Tali sort of reminded me of Liara in ME2 yet on my main playthrough I stayed true to Liara. However I have more than enough playthroughs romancing the other females.

I haven't lost interest in her: she was never my love interset but she is a friend.I miss who she was.I miss how she was,:( back during Mass Effect 1... She was sweet and endearing, though she had little social grace, i still enjoyed going to talk to her, even though she tended to fall back on giving lectures most of the time rather than engaging in free form rhetoric. But I wasn't all that bothered by this cause it fit her character: what with how most of the time she had very little contact with other people. After seeing her in action on Illium, I think i know why she didn't use to interact with people often...

The woman is dangerous:devil: I'm not a psychiatrist but I think that she has clearly demonstrated a lack of empathy, a lack of social responsibilty, sadism, ruthlessness along with a seeming fascination and desire to pull peoples strings...:o I really didn't like how she seemed to be relishing and rejoicing about how as she put it, " Give me a week and I could start a war! " I was also troubled by how when I first entered her office, she was speaking and making threats like her mother: Matriarch Benezia... Although when i heard the way she tried to mimic her mother's imposing, dominant personality. It sort of made me laugh:P Liara sounded like the nerd she is when she said, " I'll fry you... with my mind:wizard: She came across as a kid trying to put on thier parents clothes..Butr during our mission: Lair of the Shadow Breaker, she ment buisness!! :bandit: She had a "Kill them all and let the Goddess sort them out attitude."

The Liara I know and love from ME1 reminded me of Rachel Weiz character from The Mummy.A young woman who was cute, sexy, smart, innocent and adorable.Liara T Soni post "Lair of the Shadow Broker is two steps from becoming a sociopath !! And this saddens me:crying: i want to save her, but Sheppard Commander may have to much on his plate during Mass Effect 3, to even notice how close Liara is to the 'Edge of the Abyss'...

After realizing how strongly she still felt for Sheppard, when she confessed that "She couldn't let you go." My heart was filled with such pathos for her unrequited love, that I went back to play Mass Effect 1, and chose her instead of Ashley, finshed the game ( This took me about 20 hours from that save point) imported my new data into a new  ME2 Game and finally gave her what she longed for.... I did this not b/c I now was more interested in her than Operations Chief: Ashley Williams.I did it b/c I felt like of all the people who showed romantic interest in Sheppard, no one is perhaps as deserving of the Commander's affections as T' Soni is<3 If love could be acheived through 'merit' she would be an All-Star  Champ...

Now after I went through all this to give her the object of her desires, I was shocked to see how cold and indifferent she was toward me in ME2  So much so that i decided to be with Miranda from that point on in this playthrough...

You know what's kind of funny though...In ME1, i was attracted to Liara's mom: Matriarch Benezia. She is a total MILF and in ME2,  I quickly grew to fancy Matriarch Aeithta, ( her personality smile and attitude, quickly won me over ) long before I found out that she was Liara's father...If this was all real life and threw her Shadow Broker Intel T'Soni found this out about me.That would probably infuriate her to no end... while I respect her 'Unrequited Love" The heart wants what the heart wants...
