Hi,
I have a problem with installing PhysX (which ME2 apparently requires to run) on my computer. When i run the Physx installer it tells me that it needs to restart my computer and that the installer will automatically start after the reboot, but when i reboot nothing happens. I've tried running the installer again but it just makes me reboot again ad infinitum without ever starting the installation.
How can i force an install of physx since the "wise" installer is obviously not working?
Alternatively, how can i make mass effect 2 start without needing to install physx?
some system info http://bildr.no/view/917375
thanks in advance for your help,
Erik S.

1) Please register the game on the forums. This is not an accusation, but given the spate of users with illegally downloaded copies coming to the forums asking for help, forum registration is the only way we can be sure we are dealing with a legit copy. Illegally downloaded copies include hacked and modified files which could be either corrupt, or full of malware. Once its registered, we will be happy to help. Forums Registration here;

2) Please post a full problem report as per this thread: http://social.biowar...6/index/4795299

These are some of the recent ones with ME2......Google would probably do even better.
If nothing in these threads fixes it, then give more and better info as Bogs says.

First of all, thanks for your replies. Second, I managed to fix this problem, but it took some time and creative thinking because it was quite a peculiar problem.
As I stated in the OP the problem wasn't with the game but rather with the physx installer which wouldn't work properly. It may also be a problem with my windows installation and the way it interacts with this particular installer (wise installer) but i've never had this problem with any other software.
Since the actual installation of physx never started I suspected that the problem may lie in the method the installer uses to auto-start the installation after the required reboot, and after giving it some thought I realized that it was likely the installer used the registry to make the installer initialize.
I checked the registry in places I know are used to start programs on startup, and lo and behold I found something in the following location:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER/software/microsoft/windows/currentversion/runonce
The name of the registry key was WiseStubReboot and the data referred to a Wise .msi installation file. It looked like this: MSIEXEC /I "C:\\Program Files\\Common Files\\Wise Installation Wizard\\WISE10DB5DAE57640EAA7FC1CB2A7B283A6_9_09_1112.MSI"
I took the command from the registry file and ran it through the Run window, and the installer started. So now i have physx installed and the game is working
For future reference it would seem the Wise installer puts these MSI files in C:\\Program Files\\Common Files\\Wise Installation Wizard so if anyone runs into this problem in the future just make them run the appropriate .MSI file located in that folder.
