So, do you think starting a new game in ME3 without an import would mean everybody survived the suicide mission?

Because in ME2 pretty much everybody who could be dead was actually dead. (Council, Wrex, Rachni, and some other minor characters).

If this has been discussed somewhere else, would you be so kind and post a link? I couldn't find anything.

Thanks

Edit: new name for the thread

Doubtful, highly doubtful.

Maybe they'll implement a point system "5/12 survived, pick which ones" in an opening dialogue of some kind.

I think the survivors would be the most unpopular ones (want to see that Garrus and Tali everybody is talking about? Play ME2!) or least related to plot (want to know what will happen if it would be your squadmate instead of generic salarian doctor? ...You know what to do).
I highly doubt that there will be 5. For now we have Tank (Vega), Crowd Controller (Liara) and Caster/another Tank (Ashley/Kaidan). So for balance we should get tech and sniper. Maybe combined.

I think they'll make a way for you to choose who you want to have survived. Maybe another comic intro.

I frequently think about how much I hate thread titles that don't sum up what the thread is about.

I think there will be some intro if you dont import, where you may choose some decisions like it was in Genesis from 1 to 2.

From how I'm looking at it, if you take the comparison of Genesis web comic and apply that same idea to a new ME3 game, some characters will not survive. I mean many decisions were left out of Genesis from ME1 so  if you look at ME2, there's too much to account for when dealing with the survivors. You'd have to factor in LM, ship upgrades, who did what during the SM, and who you took with you to the final battle. If all that was included in a web comic, it defeats the purpose of even playing ME2. So more than likely it's going to be a "roll of the dice" if you just start a new ME3 game with no import.

The intro would be unbearable if it covered every single squadmate/loyalty mission (remember, Feros and all sidequests were cut from the ME1 comic, and it was assumed that you recruited both Wrex and Garrus). It will probably only cover events that are strongly relevant to ME3, and anything that results only in cosmetic changes (minor cameos, emails, offhand comments, news stories) will be scrapped.

So I'm betting new players will still get Tali and Garrus by default, will be able to make calls on what happened on a few strongly plot-relevant missions such as Mordin and Legion's LMs, and will miss out on fun extra stuff like a Samara/Zaeed/Kasumi cameo or a group of krogans referencing your encounter with the Thresher Maw. Who is alive or dead (when the player can't choose) will be determined by what is most needed to make ME3 a smooth, in-depth, and entertaining experience.

Sorry, it is a pet peeve of mine.  But something like "Which squaddies are in the game if you don't import a save?"

@ all

Also another question:
You play ME2 no import > Wrex is dead
You play ME3 no import > comic intro lets you choose > Wrex is alive

Sense?

My guess is none. They're not significant characters to anyone that didn't play ME2.

I think all the non-cameo ones will be alive without an import, or at least you will have the option to make them so during the intro. Considering how much you have to go out of your way to kill them all or even a large number of them it would seem odd to me if the default without import forced a wholesale slaughter.
