I made a quick research on this.

Mass Effect 1:

Mass Effect 1, E3 2006 Demo Footage
Mass Effect TV Commercial
Mass Effect Launch Trailer
Mass Effect "Story" PC Trailer

Mass Effect 2:

Mass Effect 2 Teaser Trailer
Mass Effect 2 - Official E3 Teaser
Mass Effect 2 CGI trailer
E3 2009: Mass Effect 2 Stage Demo
Mass Effect 2 classes: Soldier, Vanguard, Infiltrator, Adept, Engineer, Sentinel
Fight for the lost: Shepard, Loyalist, Psycopath , Savage, Assassin, Genius
Mass Effect 2 - Samara Trailer
Mass Effect 2 - Tali Trailer
Mass Effect 2 Launch Trailer
Mass Effect 2 PS3 Announcement Trailer
Mass Effect 2 - PS3 Launch Trailer

Mass Effect 3:

Mass Effect 3 Teaser
Mass Effect 3 Gameplay Trailer E3 - Fall of Earth
Mass Effect 3: Kinect Gameplay Demo
[E3] Mass Effect 3 Full Demo Gameplay (Stream)
Mass Effect 3 - Breaking News Trailer

FemShep trailer promised
S/S romances promised

So my question is how is Mass Effect 3 marketing worse then with previous 2 games, let alone bad?

At this stage, it's certainly not worse, I'd suggest.

We're not as far along with the marketing, so no doubt we'll see more to compare.

Also ROFLWHAT?! at the E3 2009 ME2 Stage Demo. I mean what the hell game is that? It sure doesn't look much like the ME2 I was playing earlier! It looks like a hybrid of ME1 & ME2, which is interesting because it shows how ME2 evolved from ME1, and didn't just suddenly become ME2 through an act of god.

EDIT - Wow, powers even worked through shields back then.

Far too early to tell, surely?.

EDIT: I'm very curious as to what music they might use for the s/s romance trailer.

It's bad in the same way that all video game marketing is bad. Namely it is full of outright lies, half-truths, hyperbole, and other falsehoods.

This. You always see those beffed up trailers that represent only a 5% of the actual game... that is if you're lucky and it isn't a script/cutscene =|

ME1 stuff is quite good, and it will be very hard to top ME2 "cinematic" and "launch" trailers, but I guess a lot of time for that.

I have an ini modification that enables that in the retail game... makes adepts incredibly strong, even on Insanity. Very fun, however.

^Same like with ME1?

I'll pass.

Main reason why I hated Biotic's in ME1.

I've never thought the marketing was a a particularly strong point for the ME series -

But ME3 marketing has definitely had far less focus on choice, dialogue, story etc. It took that out and added heavier rock music and focused more on the combat and shooting side of (so far). That said, we've also ONLY got the E3 videos for ME3 - I fully expect the launch trailer and trailers in the future to correct that.
