Anyone else hoping that Jacob gets a new voice actor?

I think Jacob's VA was fine at least as a male shepard. With a female Shepard it ends up feeling like Shepard is being forced into a romance with Jacob.

I've always found it highly annoying how you can't talk to him as femshep without it sounding like she's two seconds away from humping his leg. Just opening the conversation, "I'm more interested in just talking for a bit," sounds like she's in heat. It annoys me to the point I pretty much don't talk to Jacob as femshep.

The voice was fine. What Jacob lacked were decent powers.

VA was fine I thought - maybe I never noticed because I never used the character after I found my third NPC, but some of his lines were a bit daft. The one in the shuttle on the way to Freedom's Progress; "then we can find out who did this and get some payback" makes me wince every time.

I thought the VA was adequate, it's just that some of the dialog he got stuck with...well. I think they could have done a better job with the, ah, romance/interaction with Shepard in general.

Jacob, character and voice actor, were fine. I thought he was a bit unremarkable at first but he is probably the most "real" character in the game. His loyalty mission was pretty decent and his dialogue was fine. I never had a femshep romance him though.

Nothing is wrong with Jacob's VA.

Only the dialog. Couple of things I might've change: 1) Remove "Heavy risk but the prize" line. 2) change "...she requires a better man than I..." to "... she requires another man than I..."

That doesn't even make sense! :P
And I like the line as it is, that was one of very few scenes where I found myself actually liking Jacob.

No, I don't want anyone's VA changed. The voices are part of the characters now.

I'd rather he gets a better model and an actual personality other than "boyscout that works out his vanity muscles every waking moment".

Jacob sounds perfectly fine... he just needs a new writer who doesn't write such laughable lines (or one horrendously ridiculous line that was able to ruin the entire character single-handedly, lol).

Jacob is fine. Leave the poor guy alone.

Yes oh please yes. Maybe I'll be able to tolerate him if that is improved. His VA didn't have a bad voice as such, but his delivery indeed was terrible. It's bad enough his character was a joke, the voice actan made it that much worse.

*position him in cover*
Jacob: RIIIIIIGH!!!!!

*choose Jacob for Final Boss*
Squadmate 1: (some variation of "I'm ready")
Jacob: SO AM AHHHH!!!!!!!!

Jacob's voice actor is fine. It isn't his fault he had a crappy script and poor voice direction to work with.

This, there's really nothing wrong with his voice acting, Jacob just suffers from poor writing.  What needs to change is FemSheps voice acting around him, and that was down the poor V/A direction in my opinion.

And like you Fidget6, I hardly spoke to him as FemShep, only just enough to get his loyalty mission.

Haha! I think what should be fixed before that is the way his mouth moves when he talks. Cant really describe what exactly is happening, other than it doesn't move like it should.

There was nothing wrong with Jacobs Voice Actor, he actually did a fine job with what he was given, which was a boring character that is essentially male Shep light. It doesnt help his position that the writers forced anyone playing femShep to flirt with him, like it or not, in every conversation you have, and anyone who could stomach through it to see the romance was left with a really cheesy and horrible written one.

As we saw with the huge step-up from ME1 to ME2, it's not so much the VAs as it is the direction and some poorly thought-out dialogue. I kinda want to Omni-Punch whoever gave Jacob all those obnoxious combat lines.

Maybe people think he's "boring" because he's the most emotionally stable character, probably ever, in a BW game. He's normal. Reliable. Nothing wrong with that.

Agreed.

Jacob's VA was very good. He did everything right, frankly, no overacting or obviously false emotion, and just a strong, consistent character.

However, as discussed, his lines? Hoooo boy. Jacob didn't really have the best lines.

That wasn't as bad as Femshep being written/voiced as if she was about pin him to the deck and rip his Cerberus jumpsuit off with her teeth. I was put in mind of Joey from Friends his "How you doin'?" pickup line every time she said "I'm more interested in just talking for a while!". Jennifer Hale is awesome but whoever was directing that day didn't have the right angle on things. Especially bad as Jacob was so sane and decent that it was really sexual-harassment-y.
