Yeah, um, the first contact war definently did not end in 2183

And that's not how the war started either...

Year number are from Mass Effect wiki. You are right the end of the War number is wrong, but it did not have real meaning in this case, only the start year. Thank you for correction.

The "quote" is taken from imdb about Mass Effect movie orginally, but this was taken from forum, where it was quoted.

Kate Beckinsale is hot, but if they made a ME movie about the Shepard triology they should go with Yvonne Strahovski.

In some cases it would make sense to have someone other than a character's voice actor play them in a movie, because some of the voice actors wouldn't be right for the part on film. Some of the voice actors wouldn't have the acting chops to be in a major movie and others look nothing like the characters they are voicing. But Yvonne has acted on film and since the character was modeled on her, she also looks the part.

Honestly, I LOVE Kate Beckinsale. But Miranda Lawson? No, it's either Yvonne or no one.

I like kate a lot (yey underworld <<)... but i doubt she'd make a good miranda, she could play tali.

Howver any movie thats based on games needs Mila...

Also, i never really could put Yvonnes face to that facescan (i've watched chuck a lot of times and never did make the link between Yvonne & Miranda, only after looking up the name did i know who you guys meant), maybe its the hair (or just the engine in general), but it feels like they 'puffed' her up a bit.

So, as Mass Effect movie is about in time line when The First Contac War starts?
Then it started when Miranda was 7 and Shepard 3 years old.

Did they ever say how old shepard is in the background stories? I can already see my Shepard beating an army of Batarians single handedly at that age....

On a side note, being a good VA doesn't mean you are a good actor on screen.

Shepard was 3 years old at the start of the First Contact War.

Anderson was 20 though, so he could be in the movie.

As for Kate Beckinsale playing Tali, I think she'd be wasted on a character who spends the whole movie with her face covered.

All Yvone would have to do is dye her hair black and fix her hair style to look exactly like Miranda and it's all perfect.

She is the face and the voice after all. She also is known to be a sexy actress with "strong secret agent" like experience as well so the those are all good..

I'd have to say no. She doesn't seem right for the part.

I'd go with Yvonne. She just needs to dye her hair.

The fact that she looks exactly like Miranda probably makes her one of the only characters from the games to appear in the film.

A few people could get away with it like Anderson and Joker. That's just my opinion though.
EDI obviously could appear. Can't see Joker or EDI appearing without the Shep though.

EDIt: Tali and the rest of the Quarians could reprise there roles if they stay suited up.

I imagine they'd make a few changes to her face as well. Miranda is a little different from Yvonne, so they may do  things like smoothen her skin and make her face moree symetrical.

Not that I have anything against Kate, but why wouldn't you use the VA? She is an on screen actor and she's just as hot as Beckinsale. Plus, Miranda is modeled on her appearance. You get the voice, the face, and the attitude all in one ready made package. Why change?
