If someting so trivial will prevent you from buying this game then you shouldn't be playing any Mass Effect, Period.
the changes in the way in which abilities function isnt exactly a minor detail.
were comparing an adept that essentially spams singularity, to playing an adept that uses every biotic ability the game offers. for me, id rather have a biotic masster, then a singularity master.

Then you really need to learn how to actually play the game right if all your doing is spaming singularity

QFT. If you are complaining about spamming singularities and warps, that's a playstyle concern, not a gameplay concern. Sounds like a personal problem.

so answer my question, how do you play an adept, if your not spamming singularity. unless youve found an effective way to use throw on a protected enemy..........
my playstyle is in direct relation to the gameplay setup by enemy protections. i CANT use anything but debuffs or singularity. and i dont consider half second staggers to be the outcome of using a mastered ability like throw.
im not entirely sure how im supposed to agree with someone who simply thinks i dont have a grasp on how to play one of the easier shooters out there.

Uh huh. No, it's simply the most efficient way to clear most levels. Oh, don't get me wrong, I use squadmates to strip, and often bring along someone with warp for the explosion. I've done almost every mission more than once, and many on hardcore. The use of other powers is very situational, pull isn't better than signularity, throw is primarily useful on specific levels where you can knock people over. Fully developed thow + pull can do interesting things, but a big warp explosion is generally better unless you can knock them off a tower. Shockwave is great at low difficulties but worthless at high difficulties.
No, sorry, most of the time warp and singularity are your best powers, and you use them regularly. Take a look at the insanity Adept videos and watch how that guy plays: strip the defense, singularity, warp explosion. Rince, wash, repeat. If you play below hardcore you can do a few more things, but they're rarely as simply efficient as singularity/warp explosion.
Every other power is situational, warp explosions are virtually always useful.

s IMO of course- if you like mindlessly blasting everything, then ME2 on veteran or lower is quite nice, but start cranking the difficulty up and their system simply falls apart. Lazy development or catering to a young audience with a mature game, I can't figure out which. Stupid either way.
Just finished posting the mod I mentioned BTW if anyone here that doesn't like the original system and wants to try it out.

I think the thing is while you are generally correct you will frequently be adding pull into your arsenal. For exmaple, you might use singualrity to lock down a couple of guys on the right, rip the defenses off of people on the left with a sqaudie then pull them, then squadmate 2 to warp bomb them or throw them or whatver. Situations where this is needed aren't rare, but aren;t really common either. There are tons of rooms with a single clump of enemies so it really is just singualrity and warp, with a squadmate to strip defenses. You can go for style points, but it really isn't more effective. Adepts actually work out best or 2nd best after the engineer with the GCD system. Their signiture abiltiy is fire and forget so they can be using other powers while it is working, pretty much every other class sticks with and only uses their signiture power at their default playstyle.
On a side note singularity flies really slow so oull gets some use due to its imrpoved flght time.

I'll bite, even though I've already realized in my short time on these forums that you are quite true to your name and terrible to converse with.
Teammates deal with protections that I can't handle (Shields) or protections that I don't want to waste my cooldown on (armor, barriers), I follow up with Pull/Throw, Pull/Warp, Pull/Weapon, Throw/Weapon, Pull/Slam, Slam/Weapon, and so on and so forth. Also, Adepts carry weapons too....you can use those to easily strip protections as well. Unprotected enemies are playthings for Adepts.
Singularity is used as a CC for heavily protected enemies, tight groups of enemies, or as a staggering device set at choke points. Stasis is an all-around 'fire and forget' CC and (if you enjoy the damage bug) an easy way to quickly dispatch large enemies (YMIRs, Krogan, mini-bosses).
Every class (barring Sentinels, who are supposed to be the Jack-of-All-Trades class) has some sort of protections that they can't deal with themselves. Combat classes (Soldiers, Infiltrators, and Vanguards) don't necessarily care about protections as much because they generally use gunfire for most obstacles, using their powers as a supplement to their combat. They lack the CC abilities of the Adepts and Engineers, so they must make up for that in raw killing power. Adepts and Engineers can walk into a room and immediately disable multiple enemies while allowing the team to play clean up. Combat classes have to focus on enemies one by one and therefore every battle is a war of attrition.

Agreed. It has seomthing to do with marketing to a console audience, although exactly why God only knows. Console gamers have a large 20+, college-graduated-with-real-jobs market now that the first few generations of gamers have grown up, and nobody is making games for this market group. Bethesda amde the same mistake with Oblivion, although they wised up significantly and shamelessly included most player-made changes into their Fallout games. Bioware doesn't seem to be that sharp though. We'll find out for sure next March....

ME1 was the Blade Runner of gaming. Epic, inspired (aritistically, musically, story-ly. also, under appreciated-ly), it created an amazing sci-fi universe with many unique elements (very impressive, considering the number of sci-fi universes available) and integrated them seamlessly into a very well told story with a stunning cinematic presentation. It was marvelous, and a few gameplay hangups don't hold it back.
ME2 is kind of like Bioshock in space, but with less storytelling and inferior combat. I can see which one they want to emulate.
That's a rather confused comparison to make. ME2 shares a lot more in common with Blade Runner thematically and visually than ME1 does. ME1 has more in common with Star Trek than it does Blade Runner.
I mean heck,

Why would you use Singularity to set up a Warp Explosion when:
A) Pull is on a shorter cooldown
C) Pull can be used by your teammates - instantly
I'm not saying that Singularity and Warp are not useful...they are very useful, and great powers, and all Adepts will use them on a regular basis. All I'm saying is that if they are the only 2 powers you are using then you aren't getting the most out of your Adept. Pull, in particular, is better than Singularity in ALOT of situations. Throw is situational, but if you'd pay attention to many of the levels there are a large amount of places that give out easy instakills from a Pull/Throw combo, if you aim them correctly. Yes, you can get the through entire game Singularity-->Warp bomb. Does that mean it's the most efficient way? No.

On the surface details perhaps, but ME1 had an artistic synergy and epic scope that fell flat as a pancake on ME2. The visual art, music, codex and living environment, and story all meshed into a fantastic presentation that drew you into the world. In the CREATIVE SENSE, it is thus a better comparison then ME2 is. Regarding the nuts and bolts details, I will definately agree with you.

I felt the ME1 world was a bit stale honestly until ME2 fleshed out these broad stroakes that had been painted prior.

I can see where that comes from, there is only so much you can squeeze into gameplay. That's why I mentioned the codex. I mean, when you read about ship design and how the pressure/habitation hull is squeezed in under the exterior/armor hull, and then you look at the Normandy airlock and can see the distance between the interior and exterior hull and actually walk through it, it's a stunning moment of "Oh, wow. They actually built the game world according to it's own rules." This is a sci-fi fans' wet dream. Although the details are light, they are there, and they are consistent. This is why ME1 holds it's own weight to me. Even the small artistic details match up with the written and dialogue desriptions. Put the epic story into this environment and it comes alive.
ME2 changed so many premises that it took the wind out of the entire universe for me. The character backstories add depth, and I liked them all (Mordin's especially). However, the gritty, I-can-get-my-hands on this world doesn't exist anymore, because reloading ammo, cloaking devices, holographic armor, kinetic accelerator guns that sound and look like lasers and shooting-everything-that-moves was more important then creating an immersive environment. Also, I should note, a distinctive and MARKETABLE IP environment.

its tough dealing with people who have different opinions??? geez, welcome to the game called life, pal.
first let me say, i dont care about ME2. im talking about ME3. and in ME3 we already know our squadmates wont work like we are all familiar with. does captain anderson have overload???? what is my poor adept gonig to do after the trial in ME3 gets bombarded by reapers, when i dont have a squadmate with overload? use my pistol!!??!?!???! your definition of adept falls along the lines of what squadmats i have along with me. thats not a good design when your the only class that needs things in order to become an adept. even if youve accepted that by now or not.
ofcorse, every class encounters protections when they play insanity! unfortunately not all the classes need to adjust their playstyle in such a drastic way. really, are you trying to convince me that the adepts gameplay doesnt change from veteran to hardcore?
in my opinion adepts got gimped the most. worst signature ability(drone is a better singulairty), crappy starting weapons, dealing with difficulties that only add a layer of crap that nullifies the majority of my abilities, the necesity for certain squadmates....the list goes on.
how does a vangaurds gameplay change from veteran to insanity? oh, it doesnt.
