I'm not sure if there's already a thread on this, and I'm sorry if there is, but which armor pieces do you use (for looks OR gameplay)? Post a pic and show us! Or just describe it!

Since I'm playing on the 360, I don't have a pic... Posted Image
Anyway, I see it as a modified N7 hybrid. I wear the Asymmetrical Defense Layer, Ordinance Pack, Off-Hand Ammo Pack, and Shield Harness (all with the default colors). It looks like the standard armor, but with some goodies added on! Posted Image

Head: Umbra Visor, or Recon Hood in hostile environments.
Just can't get over the glowing goggles look. Plus, they are good.

Shoulders: Strength Boost Pads for Vanguard melee. Amplifier Plates for my Infiltrators/Engineers.
I dislike the look of the Kestral Shoulder Pieces.

Chest: Capacitor Chestplate for Infiltrator shield recovery. Kestral Torso Sheath for my Vanguards/Engineers.

Arms: Kestral Arm Sheathing. Best in looks and functionality.

Legs: Kestral Power Pack. The only thing that doesn't make my FemSheps' legs look fat.

As for the whole body Armor Sets, IMO all but the Blood Dragon Armor look ugly. So I occasionally use the BDA in hostile environments, but most of the time I roll with the Umbra Visor, my all time favorite armor piece.

I just roll Kestrel Armor nowadays. Before I bought the DLC, I used:

Head: Recon Hood/Sentry Interface
Body: Aegis Vest
Shoulders: Amplifier Plates
Arms: Stabilization Gauntlets
Legs: Stimulator Conduits

Sentinel / Engineer

Head: Archon Visor
Chest: N7 Chestplate
Shoulders: Amplifier Plates
Arms: Stabilization Gauntlets
Legs: Stimulator Conduits

* On missions which require a helmet (or whenever I feel like it), I use Inferno Armor for Sentinel and Blood Dragon Armor for Engineer.

Vanguard

Kestral Armor

EDIT: Formatting on this site really sucks.  :pinched:

Kestral Torso Sheath
Kestrel Arm Sheathing
Stimulator Conduits
Strength Boost Pads

On the odd occasion I use archon visor for the looks, and match pattern 2 in orange to it.

I go strictly for looks so my main femshep wears kestrel everything except chest. Chest is aegis vest. All black. It gives her a nice tough look.

For my Vanguard, I combine pieces of Kestrel and N7s to get 45% melee damage boost. The rest is whatever looks nice.
Aegis is in most of my combinations.

This.

I do like the Kestrel set on my 2 femsheps but minus the torso and keep the original N7 plate you start with. Sometimes the Aegis Vest (not the Aegis DLC pack) also looks pretty good for maleshep and femshep alike. ^_^

I go for weapon damage, so I use the Kestrel pieces, except I put the N7 shoulder armor ( 3% ) on. That gives a 14% boost. If you max out Miranda's passive that is another 15% weapon damage. On soldier I get the 10% headshot visor and the off-hand ammo pack.

I like modding back in the old-style jumpsuits. No stats to speak of. It makes insanity even more insane.

And shameless plug for a vid I did featuring over 35 custom femsheps: (The Many Faces of FemShep) who were designed by folks on these forums and femshep.com

^ In that vid I followed other folk's armor combos for their femsheps and they are awesome! Several people use the old-school N7 stuff. It never ceases to amaze me how changing shep's armor combo can completely change his/her look, to the point where he/she can seem taller, skinnier, more muscular, etc.

To me, the armor choice is as much a defining RP element as shep's backstory or anything else.

I mod the hell out of my armour, my TexModded N7 armour has the same stats as the full suit of Kestral without having to cover my character's face with a big dumb helmet. Looks good and provides that handy +25% shield bonus!

I use the following gear for both male (but with helmet, no breather) and female Sheps.

Spec wise it's 100% kestrel armour (invisible helmet for female Shep) and with ammo pack.

For my soldier, I use:
Kuwashii visor
Shield Harness
Asymmetric defense layer
Ordnance packs
Heavy damping gauntlets

...because I am more concerned with looking good than anything else. Switched gauntlets to Off-hand Ammo Pack for the Collector Base though, since I was on Insanity and didn't want to run out of ammo and have to rely on my teammates to actually kill things.

For me looking good doesn't matter if I'm dead so...

Capacitator Helmet
Capacitator Chestplate
Kestrel Shoulder Pieces
Heavy Damping Gauntlets
Kestrel Power Pack

The best when it comes to protection.

@skuko the Characters and Fan Creations portion of the forum is where you need to go for modding.

Vanguard:
Head: Nothing
Body: Was Kestrel, But Aegis just looks awesome. And frankly notice little difference.
Shoulders: Melee Boost Pads
Arms: Kestrel Gauntlets
Legs: Storm Leggings

Red/Black color scheme. I do mostly for looks now, other than Melee Pads (a must for VGs) otherwise the stats don't change much, I do notice better storming with the legs and my fav looking anyways. I used Kestrel Chest until found Aegis - love the look, and N7 emblem.

I just love the life support leg things, they make Shepard look like he ready to do some serious quad kicking.

I use:
Recon Hood
Kestrel Torso Sheath
N7 Shoulder Gaurds
Stabilization Gauntlets
Ordinance Pack

Gives me +18% weapon damage, which makes me happy.
