After I had finished mass effect and mass effect 2, I asked myself a question: why do the reapers attack us? What interest do they have in destroying life? It seems to be a waste of time, ressources, technology, etc... I created this topic so that we can speculate about what motives the reapers.
So here's my idea, that I had because of those clues:
_the fact that the reapers do not seem to only eradicate life, but in fact to "use" it (e.g. building more reapers, husks, indoctrination, creation of the collectors)
_some of Harbinger's line, like "Those you call reapers are your salvation through destruction"
_The fact that Cerberus choose to join them in ME3
_and many other things
All that have given me the idea that the reapers may be in fact creating an army to fight an even bigger ennemy, or that they are already involved in some kind of war. This theory has the advantage to explain, if not everything, a lot of the story, opens a lot of possible endings, and (to my opinion) respect the spirit of the script (the reapers would not be evil but would be doing what's necessary, and at all costs).
So, what do you think about this? Please write your own ideas and tell me what you think about mine:).

Hate to break the news to you, but this "unique" theory of yours has cropped up at least once a month since people started playing ME2.

Well.. That's more or less what I expected (this was actually my first topic, so I was not aware of this), but at least I have tried. And I don't want to troll or anything, but I never pretended my idea was "unique"
