so with only 95% resist now possible whats the use of using spirit resist runes on melee characthers? i have a rune in fenris and elemental aegis which gives him over the 95% max resist and yet he still takes the 75% damage from ff spell. i know that the damage is based off the health of the enemy but my question is as i said before, whats the use when your still going to take the full damage from iit? maybe im missing something, if anyone has tips id appreciate them, btw i use aveline and because of her high damage resist and spirit resist she actually doesnt take as much damage but that just makes it seem that spirit resist runes either dont work or are useless compared to just straight damage resist. but damge resist is supposed to be halved from spirit attacks so idk. thxs in advance.

Spirit type damage halfes the effectiveness on resistances.

Just on generic magic resistance, you're still getting the 95% decrease if you have that much spirit resist.
And yes, even those 5% can be deadly with walking bomb. If it detonates for 5k that's 250 damage. I'd guess the only practical way atm is to trigger it at range.

Or to simply decrease those exorbitant amounts of health on enemies, instead increase their armor ratings/damage/resistance, decrease damage output accordingly and make spells much less devestatitive so one can play with FF without annihilating anyone without 50.000 HP.
But I guess that is too much a complicated thought for people to realize how magnificiently well that would do ... (not against you Sabotin, more directed towards developers)

thats what i'm saying, since your can only take 75% max damage from a ff spell or talent anyway, resist runes in this case are worthless. may as well had more fortune runes and just go with it.
im trying to think of a tactics way to setup the use of stonewall when a WB is about to detonate. maybe i can get it to work without blowing the crap outta my team every 30 seconds. >.<

WB and blood slave have serious issues on nightmare, this being one of them. One way to mitigate FF damage is to only detonate weak enemies, and not lieutenants. That way you can keep the explosion damage below 2000, which still means 100 damage. Alternatively, if your PC is a spirit healer just suck up the damage and raise the dead as needed.
On any difficulty level below hard though, the spell is killer. Run in to the mob, drop WB on the biggest enemy and focus fire him down quickly.
