I don't get the "uninstall" thing. Are you guys struggling for HDD space? Or is it because the game's presence is an insult. I'm genuinely interested. (PS. I have a whole bunch of games that I haven't played more than 15 minutes worth of languishing on my HDD. I don't really see the point of uninstalling them. If, by some chance, I did want to go back and play them, I don't want to be bothered going through all of that again.)

Also, this thread could be more interesting if people answered on topic. It's be interesting to know what people thought was the best feature, especially if they didn't like the game.

A bit of both, I do think the game was so bad it does not deserve a permanent spot on my hard drive and I have a small hard drive and too much music & movies as as back-up copy there.. (jeez, I just wonder how I have actually managed to get over 1500 vinyls and about 500 CD:s)

As far as I'm concerned, anything's better than the atrocity called Isabela.

They tried to appeal to the Liara crowd with Merrill, I guess. She ( Merrill ) was far too one-dimensional for my liking, though.

I actually broke off all chances for romance first time playing. None of them appealed to me, so to speak. Isabella probably least so, what with her boring constant tirades about sex. In fact, BioWare writers, take note: people who have sex don't go around talking about it all the time unless they're insecure.

Can we get some actual good things besides the uninstall feature?

Ok., how about this?
The game disk makes a fine drinks coaster...

Nope. Already using DA Awakening for that. Sometimes the Oblivion game disc. :innocent:

Yeesh.

Anyway, DAII's best features (IMO) are:

Varric.
Friendship/Rivalry system
More than one Companion quest for each follower
The Arishok
Party Banter (Best PB I ever encountered in a Bioware game)
Followers interacting with each other & even hooking up!
Mage Combat
Talent Trees
Stellar VO acting
Dominant personality system influencing EVERY dialogue option
Mage outfits that aren't robes and some of the robe redesigns. Purty!
The Secondary Quests were excellent IMO

I found it quite sad how it felt like I had more dialogue with the Arishok than my own companions.

I mean seriously, as cool as he was that was a bit of a letdown.

I liked the Arishok.
I liked Varric
I liked Isabella and Aveline TOGETHER

As far as Merrill, I didn't like Merrill at all, the whole innocent ditz thing just got old. I thought it was ridiculous that this person had been through 6 years fighting, death, and seen the horrors of blood magic but was still naive and unaware of how the world worked. Her character just wasn't believable to me.

The fact that she's that way at all after what happened in Origins, and the way elves are treated in general is out there as well.  Her character in Origins made much more sense.

Even though DA2 wasn't as good as its predecessor, I can say that two things made playing through the game easier:

1. Merrill.
2. Varric.

These two are some of BioWare's most awesome characters so far. Pity everyone else were more forgettable.

You know what's funny? I think Merrill and Varric were the only romances that were written by a DA:O writer. I think the rest were written by someone new.

Anyway, I like Merrill because she reminds me so much of myself...but she was just a little too...childish? I don't know, she just acted too much like a 14 year old. It's hard to believe she's an adult. I think they could have toned it down quite a bit.

Varric was amazing. I loved him. I hope he makes an appearance in DA:III.

I don't think there's anything else I liked enough to mention aside from them...

Edit:
OH, I love the new Qunari. I think they look awesome!

Some of the best things from DA2:

Varric. I never thought I'd like a beardless dwarf. It still kind of bothers me but his personality helps mitigate it.

Talent Trees. A few too many multiple talent requirements to get to the skill you actually want to pick but overall an improvement, I believe.

Music. The soundtrack wasn't as good as the first game but it wasn't bad either. With more time I'm sure Zur would have been up to his usual standard.

Armor design. Ok, well only some of them. There are quite a few that are way over the top but some of the rogue and mage armor sets were very well done.

Not true (Isabela/Leliana share the same writer as does Fenris/Morrigan/Alistair).

Though, Merrill and Varric were written by the same writer (Mary Kirby).

I think the arishock should have been a party member.

Good Things:

Isabella
Arishock
Lots of side quests
Good sarcasm dialouge
Party Banter

No.

Everybody who's credited between DAO, DAA and DA2 and their responsibilities I am aware of:

David Gaider:
DAO: Alistair, Shale, Zevran, Morrigan; Human Noble and Dalish origins; Redcliff and Werewolf plots
DAA: Anders, Justice, Nathaniel
DA2: Fenris, Cassandra, Meredith

Mary Kirby:
DAO: Sten, Loghain; Landsmeet
DA2: Varric, Merrill

Sheryl Chee:
DAO: Leliana, Wynne; Mage Origin; Circle and Urn of Sacred Ashes plots
DAA: Oghren, Sigrun, Velanna
DA2: Isabela

Jennifer Hepler:
DAO: Dwarf Commoner origin; most of the Orzammar and Deep Roads content
DA2: Anders, Sebastian, Bethany, Leandra, Elthina, Cullen; most of mage/templar plot

Lukas Kristjanson:
DAO: Leliana's Song
DA2: Aveline, Carver; most of Act II's qunari plot

Jay Turner:
DAO: Oghren

Daniel Erickson:
DAO: City Elf and Dwarf Noble origins

Ferret Baudoin:
DAO: No idea.
DAA: No idea.
DA2: No idea.

It's mostly the same team between DAO and DA2. I think Luke is the only credited writer that didn't work on the core game of Origins? No idea what their lowly peasant interns do.

She is a child stuck in a grown woman's body.

I would also put Uncle Gamlen on the list, too.

Uncle Gamlen's pretty cool, yeah. I was happy when I found out the same VO for Eleanor Cousland was going to be in DA2, but then Leandra just turned out to be a ******.

I just noticed that Ms. Hepler wrote every single character I disliked from DA2 ranging from the new emo Anders to Bethany :pinched:

David Gaider and Mary Kirby though.... They should really take up a bigger part in writing DA3's character!

Alistair, Shale, Justice, Fenris, and Morrigan? Sten and Loghain? They know their stuff.

Anyways, I felt the character to character interaction was the best part in DA2.

You realize she wasn't just some rogue writer, right?  David Gaider liked what she did.  It's not like she kidnapped characters and tortured them into things only she wanted to see them do or something.

DG's written a lot of great, memorable characters who were really important to the story and fun to interact with.  Fenris on the other hand was wasted potential on two legs.

Sorry, that was harsh.  I apologize.

That's what he - and most critics of Hepler - seem to be implying.  If that's not their intention it's not like I'm digging a foxhole and guarding that position like it's the sole purpose of my existence.

It's just annoying to see so much blamed on Hepler without - I believe - sufficient or even logical justification for it.

I liked the Arishok, good character and I felt that there were layers to discover there.

Merrill was a great character, even if the game's structure got in the way of her character arc flowing more naturally. And the bugs, of course.

Varric because...well he's Varric, need we say more?

I also like the ideas behind trying a framed narrative and something other than the standard save-the-world plot. It didn't really work in this game but it doesn't mean the idea is without merit.

The voice acting of Jo Wyatt and Nicholas Boulton as Hawke. None of them rubbed me the wrong way, which is a very big thing for me in games.

Loading screens are sort of cool. Same goes with loading times. Pretty decent optimization for PC. Never crashed.

Everything else sucks including Varric. Insignificant and non memorable characters.

Music was very bad in comparison to origins.

It was more the character of Merril. She wanted to discover more about the elven history and was not afraid to go unusual ways, like learning and using blood magic. Also her compassion, i like Merril much more than isabela.

And it's assumptions like that, which turn discussions into a monologue. :?

What kind of logical justification for "I didn't like what X person wrote" could possibly be needed?
