Howdy all,

When NWN2 came out I worked with the toolset for about 2 months before putting it aside to work in NWN tilesets and the Harvest Moon PW. Now I have come into an oppertunity to help another that wants to work in the NWN2 toolset to make a small mod.  I'm looking for a couple of experianced NWN2 people to work with us and that we can learn from.  we would like to make a short module to learn the basics.

If you find any intrest in this request you can contact me at winterhawkblue@msn.com or reply on the forums created for us at  [url]http://harvestmoonconsortium.com/forums/index.php[url]. There's a small section at the bottom for NWN2 forums.

Also if you lost your guild forums from biowares legacy site and would like to start new ones or have saved your old ones the site welcomes all guilds.

I didn't see a nwn2 section.

Anyway.... many/most scripts from nwn1 will work in nwn2.

Tutorials:

http://nwvault.ign.c...s.Detail&id=120

And you can always ask questions here or on irc.

Remember you can open any nwn2 content including the official campaigns (except Mysteries of Westgate because of Atari's DRM) in the toolset if you want to see how something works.

I've recently learned this myself (perhaps it was even you who told me) and I've been digging through and seeing how it all comes together.  Interesting stuff...

Thank you all I much appreciate the help. Anyone is welcome to join the project its to help a young person that doesn't know anything about scripting and building to build his first module.

one question did the new link work or have I turned guests off? We've had some trouble with spammers and bots of late so we've been extra careful.

You might try posting a message to the NWN2 Modules forum. The people in there love working on modules.

It seems I need to be logged in to see the link.

I'm not personally interested, I have enough on my plate.

Just for info, a lot of NWN1 content will work in NWN2 - you can actually import NWN1 right in and they by and large should work fine. An example, I imported the Nabassu I made and scripted in NWN1 right into NWN2 and only had to add some wings and tweak the scripts. Obviously it depends on the content, but it's useful to know.

My Silverwand Sample Campaign (link in sig) was written to give new modders a simple campaign that demonstrates techniques commonly required in campaigns (at the time most modders were only releasing modules rather than campaigns). It is a little dated since it was written before the expansions, but still may prove useful as a learning aid.

Regards

There's also a tutorial adventure included in NWN2. It's designed to show some building basics as well.

Never feel bad about keeping things simple. Good story means people will be interested anyway.

Seconded. I've been trying my best to push the boundaries of my own campaign with custom content and scripting innovation, yet two years in I still have little more than a suggestion of a story. At the end of the day, people still need something to play whatever rules they play under, and it's what they're playing that's key.

+1 on what kamal and The Fred said. I think that a good story and good dialogue will carry the day. Scripting and whistles and bells are nice but also take up gobs of time. If you have a solid story line and good dialogue in place and still have time, then you can add the fancy stuff, but start with the basics. I'd rather play a mod that has no fancy stuff, but that has solid story and dialogue.

Start with a small idea and get ready for it to take 2-3 times as long as you think it will take. My first mod was about 4-6 hours long and it took 6 months to complete.

Thank you M. Rieder,

I'll take all this into consideration and hopefully will be able to pick up some experianced teachers before we start making areas?

The other tutorials I linked I think both take you through area making as well. You can also look at the prefabs on the vault for areas to use/inspiration.
