I want to hurt you... So many good games trashed for no reason.... Calm down its just someones opinion no matter how wrong it is!!

Dude I think you need to calm down.
He was simply listing games he doesn't like/thinks are overrated and is providing reasons why he doesn't like them and why he thinks they're overrated.

Which is the purpose of the thread.

hehe not surprised someone took me seriously.
I guess the joke about someone's opinion being wrong didn't spell it out for you?

CoD and Halo. The only reason I play CoD though is because Sgt. Woods is smoking hot. :3

The Call of Duty series
Half Life 2
Oblivion
World of Warcraft
Mass Effect 2

Mind you that doesn't necessecarily mean they're bad games, just that I don't think the amount of praise and awards they got is deserved.

Call of Duty series.
Oblivion, good game, but bad scaling.

And lately, Witcher 2, from all the fans I had expected the second coming of RPGs, something it was not.

^That. Add Halo to the list. Also, I enjoyed The Witcher 2, but it most certainly is not the second coming of RPGs. It's the second coming of Action-RPGs.Image IPB

1. Bulletstorm. It was fun for one playthrough, but that's about it. On a good note, Jennifer Hale's voice acting was stellar.

2. Any and all MMOs.

3. Anything Call of Duty or Battlefield

4. Warcraft 3. Unfulfilling storytelling

5. Most RTS games. RTS games are about who can spam the most APM, which kind of it makes it not really about strategy any more. When the day comes that an RTS is actually about strategy and not how fast you can click, my opinion will change.

6. The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind. Frankly, Oblivion was a much friendlier game.

7. Starcraft Brood Wars. Unfulfilling story telling, weak assed interface. Starcraft 2 is 10 times the game.

Basically any game which is a PC exclusive gets overhyped and also any game which is open world some people seem to have a serious butt fetish for open world games to a point that even if the game sucks they will rave about it simply because it's open world and has a bunch of realism mechanics to the game.

There are a lot more of those so the overhyping doesn't really happen the ones that are PS3 only or X Box 360 only definately though since they both seem desperate to prove that they have the best exclusives to those who have the other console.

PC Exclusives happen a lot less though so the PC fanboys really get excited over whatever bone is thrown to them even if the game itself is not that good they try to find reasons to like it simply because it's PC exclusive.

Disagree with all except #1. RTS is not about apm, apm is not a measure of skill and never will be. Most of apm is spam, most of it is useless. You should know that by now. RTS is strategy based so strategy often beats micro. For example starcraft, either rushes or macro will win you the game. Except for warcraft 3 maybe since it's micro intensive while starcraft is macro intensive.  If you can't micro then rts is not for you. It ain't called Real Time Strategy for nothing, real time means speed. If you want strategy only play chess. Warcraft 3 and brood war centers on multiplayer not storytelling. Storytelling is for rpg's. Broodwar is still more balanced that Starcraft 2. Stracraft 2's interface is noobified, maybe that's why you like it. Morrowind > Oblivion too. Oblivion is just eye candy with no flavor. Battlefield > Call of duty. Call of duty is noobified child's play.

Oblivion - terrible combat, buggy, boring
Grand Theft Auto IV - Amazing tech, but the actual gameplay was very repetitive. RDR was soo much better

Whoever says Half Life 2 - I don't know what you're thinking. Even if you don't personally care for the game or genre, you have to repspect the influence it had on the industry. Revolutionary animation, physics, weapons, encounter design (the strider fight at the end is the best FPS battle ever IMO). It set the bar in atmosphere, introduced the Source engine, etc. It has never been surpassed in the level design - one minute survival horror, the next driving, the next squad based urban combat, the next just flat out pwnage. No game has managed to make each level competely distinct, yet still maintain the overall feel of the game.

I'm surprised to hear how many people found Oblivion to be overrated.

I do understand the Morrowind fans who were disappointed with some of the changes; however, it seems there are quite a few who weren't familiar with Morrowind but just found Oblivion to be boring.

In my case, Oblivion is probably the only game (other than the Civilization series) that I can play for several hundred hours over a period of years and never get bored.

I disagree with whoever said Borderlands was boring; multiplayer was fun as heck, DLC's added replay value and leveling up so you could loot powerful gear was somewhat rewarding. Good game!

I only played single player mode. Unfortunately, I don't think I could bear to install the game again to try MP.

Bully
Uncharted
Oblivion
Civilization
Prototype (I don't think it deserves a sequel.)
Halo
Sims (And I used to be a Sims freak, trust me. But after a while, all the points you spend for stuff...it's not really worth it. Most of the expansion packs aren't worth it. Gave all my Sims stuff to a friend.)
And since other people have been brave enough to say so as well:

World of Warcraft

And I thought Portal was pretty good...I just hate that I was able to beat it in one day. A video game you pay sixty bucks for should NOT be that short. <_<
