Further testing revealed that while most of the game works, whenever I try to set foot on a BG1 area, the game has a CTD.
If that is a known bug for somebody ("You simply forgot patch X, happens all the time, noob.") that'd be great.
I'd like to avoid posting my Weidu.log because frankly it passed the length where people will even pretend to read it. Most of the mods (and all the more intrusive ones*) installed I have used before and in rather the same installation order. The one thing that I actually did differently this time was, when I read in the BWP that during the installation of the BG1 TotSC patch some files were deleted and that I should restore them, I followed that advice. But that shouldn't break everything, right?

No, IA didn't look very good to me last time I tried it. Beggars were moving with one speed and getting forward with another, for example (like a permanent moon-walk).

There are other possibilities, but it seems most likely that area files are either missing or corrupted.

Unfortunately I don't want to reinstall until I know what's wrong, because otherwise I'm bound to run into the same problem again (Murphin's law).
Thanks for your assistance though.

I'm assuming you didn't have a CD/DVD in the DVD-drive while installing BGT?
Running ant-virus or antispyware software is also known to have corrupted installation of BGT.
I'm sorry, but i'm afraid you'll have to reinstall the whole thing. And yeah, i know that's a pain in the butt, having to reinstall a megamodification. Had to do it on a few occasions myself.
You could post your problem on the SHS-forums. Maybe one of the BGT-experts there knows a shortcut to solve your problem. I'm afraid they'll come to the same conclusion as me, though.
Have you considered using the BWP automated installation? It's very easy to modify nowadays.

Sorry, didn't see your answer just then. No, the DVD drive was empty.Flamedance wrote...

Not to my knowledge. My internet security seems to have recently gone into hibernation until I'm willing to pay for it (or replace it with a free one).Running ant-virus or antispyware software is also known to have corrupted installation of BGT.
Gonna do that. You could post your problem on the SHS-forums. Maybe one of the BGT-experts there knows a shortcut to solve your problem. I'm afraid they'll come to the same conclusion as me, though.
Don't need. I actually like manually setting everything.Have you considered using the BWP automated installation? It's very easy to modify nowadays.

Edit: Also: Pure BG1 runs without issues (as far as I can tell. It starts a new game without any CTDs at least).

If that's the recommended BWP installation order, like H_T says, it should be ok. It's what i use and i haven't run into any problems. Moreover, crashes on loading area's is usually a sign of corrupted files.
Though i do seem to remember installing in the Programs folder under Vista or W7 can cause the same problem. But i'm assuming a veteran like H_T knows better than to instal it there if he's using Vista or W7:)
