I'm relatively new to these forums and mass effect 2 as well, so if this has been  discussed to death, I apologize. I just thought I'd discuss how Harbinger's possession of his minions is similar to something from a graphic novel I once read.

In Blake and Mortimer "The yellow M"  (by belgian artist Edgar P. Jacobs), the villain, doctor Jonathan Septimus uses a very similar technology to possess people. In the novel, Septimus uses a device to remotely control his subject from afar while at the same time boosting the physical stamina of the subject as well as giving him superpowers. In the novel it is explained in detail how Septimus - like Harbinger - can control the sensory input and motor functions of his minion, effectively turning him into a puppet. He can also amplify his body electricity so the subject is surrounded by a natural electromagnetic shield strong enough to deflect bullets and shock people. This is done by "hacking" the subjects natural brainwaves.

I'm not sure if the writers at Bioware are familiar with The Yellow M, but I'm a big fan of Blake and Mortimer. Jacobs was so much ahead of his time, and I was just very excited to see this similarity :)
