Bumping this up, still looking for community input and contributions.  Screenshots still welcome, and direct links/ports of invaluable information for players, builders, DMs, and content makers.  I've recently added some things to the custom content makers section, and I'm getting ready to add a page about Shadooow's unofficial 1.70 patch (once he settles on a place to host the files).

Screenshots Wanted:
shots from various persistent worlds
shots from various community-made modules
shots from the original campaigns (NWN, SoU, and HotU)
shots from the toolset

800x600 or larger please
original .tga or other uncompressed format is best (no jpgs if possible)
- - - I can open .rar, .7z, and .zip files for those wondering
name/handle of screenshot taker
name of module or PW it's taken from
name of any visual overrides used (such as gui changes)
emailed to: builder@neverwinternights.info

I've been getting some great screenshots from HipMaestro from the original campaigns and have posted a few on the site.  Still looking for a few from various PWs and single-player modules to help showcase what can be done with this game.

I now consider the site fully functional and useful (aka, "complete").  Additional content is always good though, so if there's something informative or just plain handy for players, builders, DMs, or content makers, please post a link to it in this thread so that it can get added.

Thanks to those out there that have been sharing links to the site.  I've noticed it go up a tiny bit in the search engines.  Very handy when new or potential players can easily find it.

I know I've been linking to it on Facebook, my PW's main webpage, a couple of times on Twitter, and on the gog.com forum for NWN.  I'm also going to be talking a little bit about the site in an upcoming NWN Podcast interview (recording in a couple of days).  Promo, promo, promo. :)

Superfly_2000: Any chance of changing the title of this thread to something like "www.neverwinternights.info - NWN Community Site" and remove the "(but not yet completed)" from the first post?  Chances are the thread won't get stickied, but anytime it get's bumped up it'll make it more descriptive for potential/new community members.

Yay for the new website being complete! :)

One thing I remember from the old bioware site that I really liked was the collection of character build templates. I tend to usually stick to single-class characters, but looking at the "epic" builds allowed me to experiment with different class combinations without worrying about dying... more than normal, anyway. ;)

Could something like that be incorporated into the new website, maybe on a rotating basis or something?

Jthesunshinegirl, you might want to visit the new Epic Character Builder's Guild boards to find builds and discussions. Also, the builds and discussions from the Bioware guild boards are on the Epic Character Search Engine.

Thanks, MrZork, that's exactly what I was looking for!

I still think it would be good to either link to these resources or provide ones of your own on the website. Coming from playing the Baldur's Gate series, I found all of the skills and feats kind of daunting at first. I learned a lot more about them from reading and playing character builds than by just hitting the default button in game.

Few suggestions and screenshots for the site:

Make instructions where to place .bic and .bik files. Warn about messing with the override and specify what extensions should go into the override(sometimes that is not specified by the author).

Screenies from SP Modules:

Updating the player section of the site with the additional file types (.bic and .bik), and advice about overrides.

For the screenshots, can you email them to me (at builder@neverwinternights.info) so that each can have the necessary information included with each?
- name/handle of screenshot taker
- name of module or PW it's taken from (including language if non-English-based)
- name of any visual overrides used (such as gui changes)

Also, email works much better than the various upload sites, which take a lot of extra time to use (typically having to wait for 2-3 screens, with advertising, to load to get a single file) and often don't include extra information besides the file itself.

Updated Custom Content Challenge page.

Added share buttons for Google+, reddit, tumblr, and Pinterest (along with the previous Twitter and Facebook buttons). Share the site with those you know, to remind them that the greatest value in computer gaming is still alive and kicking!

Hey TAD, this site looks great (that shade of blue is one of my favorite colors) thanks for the great work! It allows me to reduce the number of NWN related links in my bookmarks toolbar. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank you for the icon overrides and transparent GUI. At this point I don't think I could play NWN without them.

A couple minor suggestions if I may:

1. I think that the links to the NWN Wiki, the NWN Vault, and NWN Connections deserve to be featured more prominently at the top of each page, similar to the link you have to these forums. Those others are just as important if not more so and will be used frequently.

2. Maybe include links to 2 of my favorite general D&D sites:

The Forgotten Realms Wiki (over 11,000 pages)
http://forgottenreal.../wiki/Main_Page

The World of Greyhawk Wiki (smaller but growing)
http://www.canonfire...title=Main_Page

Maybe these could go in a new link section called "General D&D info" or something like that, and others could make other suggestions. I was going to suggest a couple of sites dedicated to core D&D rules but maybe that's not a good idea since there are conflicts with NWN rules.

I moved the community sites links upward on the player section. They were already near the top on the DM and builder pages. As far as putting them right at the top with the forum link and gog.com link, I don't think it would look quite right cramming more into that menu.

I put the wiki links under DM resources and builder resources sections, since their NWN use is pretty much just for background information.

I don't think links to PnP D&D rules would really fit the site, since many such rules are modified in the NWN game and many more don't apply to this game and would just confuse people.

Glad you like the modified GUI elements. I haven't stopped using them myself since I made them. Can't really see myself going back to the view-blocking GUI and all-purple spell icons.

And, yes, you may indeed make suggestions for the neverwinternights.info site. :)

I agree that links to PNP D&D stuff is unneccessary (and in my view innappropriate).

I am wondering how we can give this site more credibility. I think it needs to be more broadly linked to.

I only have control of low traffic sites, but I did link to neverwinternights.info from both of them. The "nwn" tag on my site for example lets a user know what NWN is all about, and links back to neverwinternights.info. Put it in my sig on the Project Q site too. I encourage everybody else to do the same. The more links we send to the site the higher it will rank in searches.

Here's a way the NWN community can help out a little...

The neverwinternights.info domain for the site will be expiring July 4th.  If any of you would like to help cover the cost of renewing, you can donate via paypal (just include a note saying it's for neverwinternights.info rather than Aenea).

Here's the costs (which include the base prices plus any fees):
1 year: $10
2 years: $22
3 years: $34
5 years: $58

Any help would definitely be appreciated.  Whichever amount is raised will determine how long I renew for.

---------------------------------------------------
Updated June 13, 2012:
Current Total Donated: $45.00

I wish I could donate, but I cannot. So I went and did the next best thing I did a shout out on the NWN community facebook group and mentioned the site needs some help. If others could promote this cause we might save the site.

I'm what you call economically disadvantaged, so can't donate money. I will, to help you with your search engine ranking, link to your excellent site from most of our new neverwinterconnections.com web site... with your approval of course?

Be well. Game on!

Any links to the site are always welcome, no need to ask permission/approval for something like that.

Added a few new tutorials for builder & custom content newbies:

Found the old BioWare Module Contruction Tutorial .pdf and added it to the site.

How To: Re-Skin Creatures (originally from the old BioWare site with some minor updates)

How To: Extract a Game Resource (using NWN Explorer Reborn) (a new one, since some folks haven't used the program yet)

When I have time, I'll be transferring/updating several other tutorials from the old site (thanks to the Wayback Machine).  It does take some time, as there is text to copy over, images to copy over, links to re-link, and reformatting to do so it better fits the neverwinternights.info style. The Wayback Machine is an awesome tool, but you can't just copy and paste stuff out of it an expect it to look decent or be very useful.
