I'll keep this thread topic short and to the point:

The appearance of our custom Shepards is important to us, but because of the unskippable introductory cutscenes in both Mass Effect 1 and Mass Effect 2 a tweak to his or her appearance takes twenty minutes and a restart of the game.  The same kinds of modifications could be accomplished in about ten seconds with the mirror in Dragon Age 2's Black Emporium.

I don't even care if this is made available through pay DLC and is called something like "Dr. Chakwas' Plastic Surgery Device."  Of course I'd love for something like that to be in the vanilla game, but I'm not going to pretend I won't break open my wallet in an instant to buy the feature if it was offered as an extra.

Absolutely agree. This was a very valuable feature in DA2, and I would pay to have it included in ME2.

I support this. The Black Emporium was one of the few things DA2 did right.

I have to admit, I feel the same way. One of my biggest problems is that, when designing a face, it's hard for me to really get a good idea of how it looks in a cutscene. Being able to tweak would be a nice addition.

+1 for me, due to the creation screen not having the best light/angles

Yup. I actually thought the scar removal upgrade in ME2 was going to allow this and was extremely disappointed when it didn't.

Why would you expect a scar removal upgrade to allow you to change your face?

I mean, where is the logic?

Erm, ... are people really THAT dissatisfied with their creations they want to "tweak" them when they feel like it?

I find myself perfectly happy with the results I get using the normal facebuilder, what tweaking I need is already done there. Maybe you should just create your Shepards more carefully.

Just my .02$, ... but if you really want it, Chakwas can certainly perform some face surgery ...

edit://
I should clarify that I am a bit of a perfectionalist and thus spend a good hour with that however so I might have a better start than most of those in here.

+1. 70% of my new playthroughs in ME2 were basically realizations that my previous facecodes sucked.

I LOVE the last female Shepard I made in ME1, and have used her in two ME2 imports already. It would be nice, though, to at least be able to tweak makeup or hairstyle. That seems like it could be done in the bathroom in the cabin.

Edit: (there's a mirror in there, right? I always forget the bathroom is there). ;)

I nitpick enough and have high enough standards with my custom Sheps (M-F) that the angles and lighting available in the creator are not sufficient to meet that standard.

It's not a matter of not being careful, it's a matter of being a bit of a perfectionist - which I don't believe is unreasonable considering it's the face we've got to stare at and see emoting for hours and hours.

Like I just edited, I am perfectionist too and spend a good chunk of time modelling those faces. And I have yet to see my Shepards not looking like I wanted them to (at least given the mechanics of the facebuilder).

Good for you, with your preternatural vanilla face creator skills.  Just to clarify though, you aren't against this proposed feature you just wouldn't see any particular need to use it yourself?

I'm in favour, I don't know if I'd really use it too often but I'd feel much better having the option there if I want it.

Just adding my voice to the chorus of "yes hell please yeah".  I really don't understand why we cannot get an appearance editor in Mass Effect that we can access at any time (whilst on the Normandy).  There were a couple of missions in ME 2 that had me thinking "hm wish I could change my appearance for this mission".  A good example was Samara's loyalty mission, I would have loved the ability to change Shep's appearance to make it more appropriate for that mission.

So your reason against it would be that you would lack the self control to stop using it?

Good lord man, I hope you never try drugs or alcohol.

+1 to this.

Sometimes it's a matter of the head shape combo not really going with the body. Or the hair isn't fitting the concept.

There's really no good reason for this not to be a feature.

I'm totally for this. My Shepards never come out quite as I imagined; my first Shepard suffered from a tragic case of duck lips and the others have come through with cheekbones that looked like pixelated ham shavers. I've ended up modifying stuff on me3faces.com, but still.
