Given the cinematic experience that we've come to expect in this series, having our character look exactly the way we want them to is kind of a big deal. Totally in support of a feature like this and it could be integrated easily without breaking immersion.

I support this. I want a reconstructomatic-9000 on my Normandy.

That's a good idea, I also like how you can see the character talk etc. during the creation process.

I agree with this feature 110%!

That DA2 Mirror of Transformation saved me hours of time! I am really picky when it comes to my characters appearance, If I see something that is off about my character (usually the facial structure is off, part also due to *cough* bad lighting and camera during character creation *cough*), and after I`ve spend at least a good hour trying to customize him or her I will complain, but I almost always go through the entire process of remaking the character because I know if I leave him or her that way It will bother me, and that ruins my playthrough for me at least. :P

Therefore I definitely support a DA2 type Mirror of Transformation in ME3!

The best way to do that is to only be able to change superficial things like hair style, facial hair and make up. Now that I endorse.

I'd rather see something along the lines of Oblivion. You make your character/class, run through the obligatory tutorial mission, and then the game asks you if you want to keep or change any/everything. That way we can see how Shepard looks in game outside of the limited scope of the creator (damn you pointy cheekbones) without replaying the ridiculously long intro like in ME2 but also without Shepard getting an extreme makeover every five minutes.

This suggestion does make sense in terms of the lore, as far as I can tell. After all, during the Lazurus Project, Shepard's appearance was (optionally) altered completely.

No it wasn't.  Shepard was brought back exactly as he was before, as is repeatedly said in game.  Changing the face in ME2 character creation is retconning Shepards appearance, not an in universe event.

in general, I find that I start the game, make the face, then 20 minutes later I feel like something is off, and an hour after that I figure out what is actually wrong with the face that I can change. I really wish I could fix it or even customize the face from a previous profile when I start a new game; like it were a preset.

Shepard does note that he/she noticed some 'improvements'. Kind of vague, but it could be taken as such.

That was cybernetics augmenting strength, enhancing biotics (if biotic), giving immunity to poison, etc.

I'd just like to be able to change Default Shep's facial hair.

For the love of god YES!! Whenever I do a custom Shep they always look better in the CC screen than in-game. And restarting the the whole damn game is too-much trouble. Bioware! You did it once! Do it again!

This is definitely needed because too often a character looks different ingame from the customization screen.

I'll keep this thread topic short and to the point:

The appearance of our custom Shepards is important to us, but because of the unskippable introductory cutscenes in both Mass Effect 1 and Mass Effect 2 a tweak to his or her appearance takes twenty minutes and a restart of the game.  The same kinds of modifications could be accomplished in about ten seconds with the mirror in Dragon Age 2's Black Emporium.

I don't even care if this is made available through pay DLC and is called something like "Dr. Chakwas' Plastic Surgery Device."  Of course I'd love for something like that to be in the vanilla game, but I'm not going to pretend I won't break open my wallet in an instant to buy the feature if it was offered as an extra.

your profile pic is the best profile pic.

Suck it to the "my immersions" people. Bioware could put a plastic surgeon mad scientist in a remote area only found by extended underwater swimming and searching and I'd still use the damn thing. Immerse that.

I disagree.  As far as I remember (please correct me if I'm wrong though) there is no dialogue in the game that makes mention of Shepard's appearance being identical - though they do use the line 'exactly as he/she was before' a lot - I take this to mean in terms of personality (e.g. not inserting a nano-control chip) - as it is utterly untrue in terms of physical characteristics already by virtue of the cybernetic implants.

I thought that from a narrative perspective, one of the main points of including the Lazurus project in the game (aside from being able to advance the plot in a few ways) was to give an in-game plausable reason to be able to modify your appearance.  If this wasn't the case - wouldn't Bioware have let you make character modifications BEFORE ME2 actually starts (i.e. before the Normandy gets destroyed) - as has been done in all of their other games including ME1?

I've never heard anybody on the ME team officially state (or any in game info) that it is a 'retcon'.

I loved the mirror. I probably used it more than I should have. I had a different haircut for each act. But it definitely gave me a character I was happy with.

I'm usually pretty okay with my FemShep's because I usually just go with a preset and change it a bit. Like my favorite shep is just preset brunette shep with a shaved head lol.

But my first Man shep looks TERRIBLE. Like a monkey or something. I hate him. So I made him Renegade so the facial scars make him look worse and roleplay him as an ugly, mean, bastard. So, I'm okay with him now.

I just wish I had had a way to fix him.

Um. So. Yeah. I want this feature. It would be great!

Yes, I'd definitely want this. I don't think it's something I should have to pay for on top of the game itself... but I probably would.

As for Shepard's appearance being significantly altered by the Lazarus project. I don't think so. AFAIK, pretty much everyone who would recognise him/her does so just fine.

I think that's more a programming limitation than anything else.  There would have to be a million and one variables and dialogues to deal with it otherwise.

"Shepard!  I notice that your nose is 4mm longer than it used to be!  Your skin is 1 shade darker!  Your cheekbones stick out 1mm more than they used to!"
