But of course! I don't see why everyone's always hating on poor Saph, I love her to bits. Sometimes we even agree! Image IPB

But I think we scared off our new troll friend... Image IPB Awww

Edit: Saph is and will continue to be called "her" because of her avatar being a wemenz...

The Daily Show was better when it was more like the Onion.

In rides Shandapared with the opposing opinion.

Ah, Shandepared.  I remember that guy.  It was almost like he did his best to be contrarian to every single popular opinion.  Somehow, he avoided being an obvious troll most of the time, and took quite a long time before finally being banned.

But I doubt Saphra is Shand, since they both have registered games.  I don't think you can re-register a game when its user has been banned.  Then again, maybe he/she is one of those people who blow their money on two different versions of the game.

What is up with those people?

Rather than asking which races are expendable perhaps we should be asking ourselves this, "The demise of which races will most benefit humankind?"

Well to you the answer would be "Every race can burn and die as long as hooomanity survives"

The question implies we may have to prioritize. Besides, we may need the heavy firepower some of the other races can bring to bare in order to survive.

Just because I think we should keep the idea of surrender to the Reapers on the table doesn't mean I want to surrender right away. I'd prefer if my treachery surfaced at the most cinematically appropriate moment possible.

Towards that end, the turians and asari falling is in our best interests... but we might need the turians to win. The asari, in a Renegade universe, are useless, so we can just let 'em get pulverized.

The quarians and geth would be useful, but if Xen gets her way they might be a legitimate rival. Then again they could also be needed force for stability in the Terminus, which would keep our colonies safer, maybe.

I want to know more about the hanar and why politicians in ME1 thought they might one day be a Council seat contender. I also wonder what their ships look like... they must be filled with water.

I wonder, do they have flying submarines?

From what I can understand the Hanar seem to be quite adept at developing new medical technology.
The Volus are economic experts.
The Turians are the military backbone.
The Asari......
The Salarians provide intelligence and covert ops.
And the Elcor...???

Thessia must be saved, the asari are my favorite race!

They also have the largest ship in the Galaxy, and the second biggest fleet.

You know what? When you break it down this way the Mass Effect universe seems pretty ridiculous.

Humans are better at covert ops anyway, seeing as we have actual stealth technology for our ships.

The asari are useless though, you're right about that.

From conversations with Thane, the occasional codex file and a Cerberus Daily News article or two.

Well in any case humans have made the two most important breakthroughs in medical technology, so again... we can do it better.

To be honest I highly doubt that ENTIRE races will be completely wiped out.

I'd see it as more of a "If you don't help this race but still beat the Reapers they survive but are severely weakened.

The Asari are supposed to be the "wise diplomats" iirc.

I don't think so either. That wouldn't be healthy for the franchise, as in, it might limit how much money it can make in the future. Of-course in the end this means the players will never REALLY be able to affect the universe.

I think that the Paragon ending to ME3 (assuming the game has an actual ending) will be the Reapers beaten, everybody ravaged, but everyone works together to rebuild.

Renegade would be everybody BUT humanity (minus Earth of-course) being weakened by the war, paving the way for humans to cement their rule over the galaxy.

Though Bioware could always surprise me. I won't hold my breath.

That's why I'm expecting the Rachni to still show up even if the Queen was killed in ME1.

The asari economy is larger than that of the volus.

They will be rachni Cerberus managed to salvage from that experiment they ran in ME1. If you saved the queen she'll be able to tame some of them.

This goes for whether it was Shepard or I myself making the decision...

I like to think "the Galaxy" above humankind, personally... If we were picking areas of mass population of other species VS Earth, I might just choose Earth over the homeworld of Asari, Turians or Salarians, because of how spread out they are; Hell, the Asari would lose 10% of their population, very tops. The Elcor seem pretty spread out now, and the Volus are too, so their homeworlds would probably be toast. The Batarians (if there are any left) can bite it for all of their pleasant contributions; I'll never value a Geth collective over a worthy organic/organics, sorry; Vorcha are people?! 'Nuff said for them.

Tuchanka... Would be a tough one. I don't know if I could destroy beautiful Earth and a majority of my race's population to save the Krogan race, even when Wrex is lifting them; Their planet is wartorn, abused and scarred, just like the Krogan. It'd still make me very sad though, especially if poor old Wrex was still on it. Gathering together the few remaining Krogan in the Galaxy, they *might* be saved with a genophage-reversal, especially since inbreeding probably wouldn't do much to them.

The Hanar would be another tough one, but again, they're quite spread out as merchants; Would deffinately want to help preserve their race though. Ouch, of course, it'd mean killing off the Drell, too, wouldn't it? Very painful decision... Not sure on that one, actually, since it may be two entire races being wiped out, I'd probably sacrifice Earth if the Drell would be annihilated (They still have a chance at survival if someone will take them off that damned wet planet).

The Fleet would certainly gain priority over Earth. Though the numbers might be hugely different, it'd be a calamity similar to that of the Drell, except on a race that has already endured a lot of hardship, and could vastly contribute to the Galaxy, were they to be given the option.

^^And Tali better give me a LOT of sympathy and *suggestive airquotes* "sympathy". Any scenario where I sacrifice hippoz and the like make me & my Shepard sadpanda. Tali! Remember that Dead-Daddy hug? Well I need an EarthExploded hug right about naow, plz.

*Everybody* thinks the Asari are smexy smurfettes. And they can be very nice and polite. Plus, they're the main supply of strippers to the Galaxy; Very essential race.

Elcor wear Pimphats, ho.

Yeah, I've speculated that before and the sad thing is that  it further cements the notion that the Paragon/Renegade paradigm is just there to hide the linearity of the story.
