That's a very logical way to approach the dilemma. You are on the right track here.

The other races can stand a lose a lot more than we can. Humans are in a fragile position. We have the potential to keep growing, but losing the Earth now (and most of the species) would pretty much relegate us to being a backwater race for the foreseeable future.

When it comes to Tuchanka... I don't know why anyone would save it. The krogan contribute nothing good to the galaxy and their planet is a ****hole anyway. Let the Reapers reap them, I'm sure they'll still survive and probably won't even notice.

The drell I think would survive the destruction of Kahje. They still have people on their actual homeworld, their homeworld is just a Fallout style ruin. Probably beneath the Reapers' notice (for now anyway).


The Salarians would probably lose the most, and they'd still retain at least 60% of their population, putting it lightly. Tuchanka would be a sad choice, because there may be no Krogan females anywhere else in the Galaxy (Though I suppose cloning could work? If only for Krogan, unkillable bastards).

Didn't think there were any Drell anywheres but on the Hanar homeworld, except for the odd one out on a mission, like Thane & that poor deluded Kolyat (Haven't played LotSB *yet*, dunno about Feron).

'Course I like dem Quarians, I'm diddlying with one, aren't I?  But when it comes down to it, the Council would be more likely to help the freaking *Krogan* rebuild than the Quarians; They built them a damned statue, didn't they? And given that all you'll have left are a couple hundred thousand Quarians scattered around the Galaxy, with any remnants of their nearly-lost culture destroyed along with the Fleet, I really would choose 17 million Quarians over 12 billion humans & cute widdle animals.

Besides, can you imagine the "sympathy"? Hell, I'd feel terrible for choosing between them, but I'm sure a certain someone would devote her every effort to soothe  To borrow a quote:

I wouldn't want *any* of the galaxy's species to become extinct. OK...maybe the Vorcha, but they're the rats of the galaxy - will survive anywhere.

But if it's possible to set up the situation so that certain species take more casualties than others, then these are the candidates I'd choose:

(1) Turians. Only the Council keeps their imperialism in check. Better they come out a little weaker after the war.

Hmm...actually that was it. My neutral and moderately pro-human Shepard might also target the asari, but they're a force for stability, which might be in short supply after the war. It all depends on the situation. I'd not target the krogan because they've problems enough with the genophage, which I most likely won't cure, and not the quarians because there are so few of them. Not the batarians because they've likely already been decimated by the Reapers more than any other species, not the salarians because they're needed. I'll look at the concrete situation I'll face in ME3 and decide from there.

Well sorry for bringing the Quarian/Geth debate into this thread. I was only pointing out why i felt the Quarians to be more expendable, but truly my Shepard is out to save as many races as he can. Only their ignorance will keep my Shepard from saving any one race. Also like i said earlier i would use this Chaos the Reaper Invasion sprung to get rid of certain factions, mainly the criminal run kind . If an off chance these factions wanted to help, they would than become my Bantha Fodder

When poeple talk of sacrificing races, do tehy really think total eliomination of an entire race?
That is a really tall order, even for Reapers. Think about it. The races aren't neatly clustered in one spot so that you can kill all the Asari/humans/raceX in the galaxy simple. They are spread out.
You want to kill all of hte asari? Good luck. They live on multiple planets, many in the territory of other races. And they won't be standing still either,

The question should more likely be - which race would you submit to the greatest harm/danger?

Because you'll have to. War is hell. A commadner has to sometimes order soldiers into situation he knows they probably (sometimes even surely) won't be coming back. And he then has to pick soldiers to send.
That isn't any different than picking a race (and by race I mean racial fleet/army).
You won't be sending every last salarian man, woman and child into the frey.

Do you send the quarians or the Krogans to stage a massive (and probably fatal) diversion? Do you send in the asari or human fleet to flank, while the other fleet evacuates civilians?

No matter what you choose, SOMEONE will come out of worse for wear.
From a political/practical standpoitn, this basicly amounts down to - which races forces are best to handle situation X? Or which race do I submit to the greatest danger/losses?

In order to save the galaxy the reapers have to be stopped. In order to stop the Reapers a LOT of sentients will have to die.
Once the reapers are defeated, the political cliamte and balance of power will definately change in someone favor, but a total anihilation of an entire race? Hardly.


On another thought, I would how 0 qualms with shutting down all Geth or EDI. I don't belive in true AI and sentience.
