Just one question: What circumstances would make it clearly distinguishable that you have to spontaneously decide to risk all the other races in a moment's notice to save earth or to save the other races?

The Reapers aren't that powerful that they can destroy entire civilizations in less than a couple months considering the retaliatory power of the galaxy combined. The Reapers will have a large fight on their hands; that's a fact, but whether we live or die when the war is over is still the verdict that needs to be determined by our combined actions and choices.

It's all a matter of degree.
Someone flying their national flag or donating to a veteran's fund is good patriotism.
Someone violently abusing foreigners is bad patriotism.

Someone who shops at a local market because they like home grown produce is good nationalism.
Someone who thinks all other nations are garbage compared to their own is bad nationalism.

Patriotism can be positive when it comes to people actually liking the country they live in.
Nationalism can also be positive provided it is not over done.

It would be better if people linked to the land they born, not an imaginary line, a goverment, an economic system. The problem is when people associate country with home.

They are merely tools to be used on the population.

Then you are very ignorant. If you think nations and cultures are completely interchangable then I challenge you to go live in a radically different culture from your own. Try Saudi Arabia.

Differences are very real and they are very important.

When I say that? Culture is not nation. Interchangeable, I don´t know, influenced yes.

Vohlus, Batarians, Hanar, and Elcor.

All of them are plain useless. If I need an accountant, racist, pink goop, or a talking ass, I'll look to one of these four. The Quarians are kind of bad since once their suit is punctured, they're pretty much dead, but at least they can operate weaponry. And they are the best tech experts, so screw the other four races.

Oh, and throw the Vorshe in too, I just don't like them for some reason.
