I for one am perfectly fine with multiplayer in a Mass Effect game so long as it is not in Mass Effect 3.

Even if Casey Hudson came out with a video saying "Mass Effect 3 will ship as a Single Player Game", I'm sure there would be no shortage of forumites who would shout to no end "Nothing's confirmed until the game is shipped!"

If Casey (or anyone from Bioware) were to say that then I would take it as confirmation that MP is not in Mass Effect 3.  However Bioware has not said that have they ?  I have yet to see a SINGLE statement from Bioware that rules out MP.  Whenever they are asked about MP they give a very ambiguous "we are concentrating on making the single player game awesome" ........ erm yeah great but that wasn't what we asked.

Now you have to wonder why are they being so "vague" and ambiguous about answering a simple question ?  I understand as a mod you must get tired of these threads.  But these could stop tomorrow if Bioware would only get off the fence and tell us one way or another about the situation with MP in Mass Effect 3.

THIS X 100,000! A firm answer to the question would be formed like this:

"Will there be multiplayer in Mass Effect?"
"Yes."  OR  "No."

A vague and not definitive answer to the question would be formed like this:

"Will there be multiplayer in Mass Effect?"
"We are concentrating on single player."

As you can clearly see, the second answer does not actually answer the question. The fact that Casey Hudson and Co. refuse to give a straight answer is the reason that this "rumor" keeps cropping up and will continue to do so until they choose to give a straight answer.

^ This, QFT.

If MP does come out for ME3, it WILL NOT AFFECT SINGLE-PLAY. It looks like its BioWare Montreal that is working on it, and BioWare Edmonton is doing everything else. Therefore the 2 will not collide until its done. (Not 100% on this, rumors are rumors.) "We are concentrating on the best single player.", keep that in mind. MP will be added only to give us even more longevity to the game, like AC: Brotherhood and Uncharted 2/3. Which, btw, DID NOT DESTROY THEIR SP...They are both truly amazing SP games with added MP. I mean, why wouldn't you want your favorite series have their last game in this amazing trilogy wanting to pop heads with buddies when you've played the SP about 10x times? The only problem is people like to think it will effect SP, and its clearly mentioned several times that this WILL NOT be the case.

^^^

That's my only worry, MP affecting the SP. No other reason as to why I wouldn't want MP in the game, the rumoured co-op missions sound very intriguing tbh.

Im glad ME3 has multiplayer as who knows if there will be a ME4, so the co-op missions will keep me busy for years to come.

I always said there would be MP in ME3.... guess I get the last laugh after all.

ME 3   is the end of the Commanders story that is already confirmed so if there is more mass effect it will be different and doubt it will have a four in it.

I just have my doubts on it.

Is that a 100% guaranteed promise?  It better be.

That they can add mp without affecting single player I have doubts about Biiowware sometimes since DA  2 is all.

I have a question guys. I am not very familiar with DVD pressing or data storing and compressing on wholesale level so... disclaimer: without any intention to complain or instigate panic,... I would like to ask:

Will 2 DVD discs, in your opinions, provide enough space for both singleplayer data and multiplayer data?

Of course, we don't have a clue how big are SP campaign and those potential MP levels supposed to be, but I guess it's safe to presume that ME 3's SP will / should be at least as big as ME 2's, maybe a little bit bigger. And I also took the liberty of presuming that ME 3 will be on 2 discs, because it's a worse case scenario in terms of available space.

First: ME and DA are developed by two different teams

Second: If the co-op missions effected the SP campaign at all, they wouldn't have added them to the vanilla game, unless they are free day 1 DLCs.

Furthermore, the missions are few and seem to be short as well. People need to stop overreacting to everything they disagree with as Im sure everyone will eat they're words and love the MP.

We're not sure if ME3 will be in two discs. Just because ME2 was, there is no reason to think ME3 will too and if it is in one discs it does not mean it is shorter then ME2. As for data management, two discs would be MORE then enough. The MP would be in the first disc and the majority of the game in disc two, like ME2.

Good or bad I have no intentions of playing the MP, so can I get $10.00 knocked off the game?  Thanks.

I'm not actually seeing any reputable source on that so I can't take that as fact yet. If Casey Hudson himself confirms or denies it, that will settle the issue.

Uh, Medal of Honor 2010 had two separate teams and the game STILL tanked. Last time I checked, very few people play BioShock 2's multiplayer.

Co-op? Well that does sound interesting. I wonder how they implement it. Two Sheps running around?

I just think dev resources could be better spend elsewhere.

P.S.: Well, seem like Javier stopped bothering to close those threads down, as their number has increased exponentially... :)

I personally would rather have the resources spent on the single player campaign or so the game can be released much earlier since time won't have to be invested in multiplayer balance.  I rather have a new Mass Effect game with multiplayer than ME3 having multiplayer.
