There is demand for multiplayer, the hunger must be satisfied someday, you can only hope that it will taste good.

I for one am perfectly fine with multiplayer in a Mass Effect game so long as it is not in Mass Effect 3.

Amen!

Ditto!

Same here.

Only type of "Multi-Player" that i would ever like is Co-op Story :). I'd love to be able to go kill reapers with friends which are also ME lovers aswell!

What do you think of this multiplayer feature that's supposed to be included in Mass Effect 3 if it's true?

Not much. The source of this article is another article. That article is based on the same rumors that have been discussed to death in these forums.

I'm in the 'No multiplayer or Co-op of ANY kind in ME3' camp on this one btw. Though I'd be fine with it if they released multiplayer AFTER the main game. I wouldn't buy it but at least I'd know BioWare didn't take development time away from the single player campaign in order to make a crappy multiplayer aspect.

if the games already done, then why not let me add multiplayer?

i mean if ME3 is going to be like ME2, its going to need multiplayer.

Fail. I don't want multi-player in my ME game.

I'd rather not have the option...it would devalue the game...for me anyway.

It should be a seperate game in the universe not shepard but new characters with a story etc and play co-op that way i don't honestly think they can make co-op work in the final game considering there's been 2 previous games, It just wouldn't seem right. Just maximize the story etc and leave Co-op / Multiplayer to a seperate game version :) i.e Mass Effect: The Hatred For Udina - Co-op smash and bash of Udina gogogogogo!

I don't think a lot of weight can be put on that poll.  It only has a "do want" or "do not want."   It doesn't have an indifferent option.  Adding a feature isn't going to stop any but the most stubborn customers from buying it.  Most people voting in that poll are going to buy it either way.  I'm sure if there was an indifferent option half of the no's would be it that category.  Plus I'm sure the numbers would go way up if the multiplayer turned out to be really good.

I personally would rather have the resources spent on the single player campaign or so the game can be released much earlier since time won't have to be invested in multiplayer balance.  I rather have a new Mass Effect game with multiplayer than ME3 having multiplayer.

Chances are that if MP is going to be included, BW and EA would have inceased the resources, budget etc for ME3 to account for this, rather than it eating into the budget for the main game.  Without actually working for BW, we won't have any way of knowing either way re budget etc though I guess.

I agree though that an entirely separate MP game would be preferable than having something tacked onto ME3 Posted Image

well i have no real opinion on it as long as it doesn't make the campaign short as all hell (MW,MW2,BLACK OPS)

Those games have to focus on the multiplayer in order to last the year in between releases of IW and Treyarch. The campaign usually comes second as the general population plays them for the multiplayer.

You're forgetting that the COD franchise and many others FPS games (especially on the consoles) weren't  originally MP heavy. That only happened recently in the gaming industry. The concern is that this growing trend on sacrificing SP for MP might take hold in other genres and that is a real concern. I fail to see why so many people don't get that.

That is Why  Isaid those games because the first 2 CoD games were great for the story aspect of WWII. But yes most gmes since have in turnbecame MP heavy. Noting that From CoD4 and up it was all based on the multiplayer experiance.

Because ME3 is currently likely to have some form of multiplayer in it, that's the simple answer.

Notice that BioWare has carefully avoided denying it. Every statement on the topic from them has been talking around the issue, by saying things like "We're focusing on providing the best SP experience possible", rather than "No MP, we're focusing on the best SP experience possible" - quite different answers.

If you could just play co-op on ME3 and let friends drive your squadmates, it would be magnificent, so I'm really not sure why people are so opposed apart from ludicrous nonsense about how they "should be concentrating on SP!". Come on. This is BioWare. They're not stupid. The SP will be the focus. This isn't Modern Warfare, where the SP is a cursory thing just thrown in for the sake of convention.

A few Co-Op missions should hardly have any sort of noticeable negative impact on the main game. I understand some may not like Multiplayer, but the reasons to oppose it are silly and entirely selfish. If the very addition of multiplayer bothers you then you should oppose the gameplay changes in ME2 as they have made it all the more likely this would occur. (I was susprised ME2 didn't have any Multiplayer really.)

Of course they're selfish. Until you start paying for someone else's game, any feature they don't like and want to use is something extra they have to pay for to get less content they like. It just doesn't make sense to decry something as selfish when talking about consumer products.

If you're concerned about it detracting from the quality of the singlplayer experience... Well you should really be more concerned who is on the Development Team. I've seen many games with poor multiplayer, but rarely have I seen multiplayer make the singleplayer game any worse. The Devs either make a good game or they don't.

The actual concern is that the game will have invested more $$, time, budgeting, etc. into designing content for multiplayer that could have gone to single player.

I would prefer proper multiplayer to Co-Op. At least that would be a feature I might be inclined to use.

If they didn't have multiplayer, there would have been no extra resources, no extra dev time.  The game would have just come out.

Yep. Especially as it seems that a separate group is doing the MP stuff.

It doesn't matter. Whatever investment there is, an SP only user will want 100% of the investment to go to SP. More broadly, the investment isn't 1:1.

So long as you're willing to pay for I guess Bioware is willing to supply.

From the locked thread
So I know this is a sore subject with most people, and I am tired of hearing rumors about it too, but I just had a games conference for my work where publishers come in and talk about upcoming games and we get to see/play demos. In the presentation for EA they brought up Mass Effect 3 and pointed out the best points about the game and the Collectors Edition.

In these bullet points, and stated by the EA representitive presenting the game, there would be a multiplayer mode available as DLC around a month after the game is shipped. No other information was given, maybe it's something they're announcing at Gamescom? (some of what we got to see were said to be "exclusives" as they were not due to be shown until gamescom.)

If this is true, that multiplayer will be an after-market addition, then I can sleep better at night.

Unless we see that slide from the presentation, it'll still be a rumor, but one of the more reliable moderators at NeoGAF was able to confirm through others that there was a slide with the term "multiplayer mode" shown.

Update:

After BattleMonkey's question, I asked again, and apparently it directly
said a "multiplayer mode" will be available as DLC about one month
after launch, so it could in fact just be one mode instead of the whole
thing.

No, this one is old, but now they're renewing it because someone posted there's going to be MP DLC for ME3... without any source.
