I thought I read the system requirements well, but to my dissapointment ME1 runs slow, looks awful, so I haven't played at all.  I'm listing my computers requirements below, so let me know if I'm making the wrong assumptions about its capabilities.  I'm running on Windows 7, so will utilizing some of the launch workarounds help the games peformance if my computer specs check out?

Thanks!

This system is not made for gaming on. Many notebooks and laptops were just not designed to play games on. You'll have to get yourself something else if you plan to game on PC

It's a computer, so which part of my specs don't fit the requirement. There isn't a stamp of 'Y/N for gaming' placed on each computer as the roll off the assembly line. If I have the technical components necessary, it should work.

Can someone a little less patronizing help me out? Just played ME2 for PS3 and would love to be able to play the original without purchasing an XBOX.

You do not have a graphics card and cannot expect to do much of anything in gaming with such a cheap onboard video chip. Had you wanted to play games with the machine, you would have been more astute about selecting something with some proper graphics in it.

The CPU should be more than adequate - I know because I played ME when it came out on a far weaker Athlon 3500... I think. Single core, 2.6Ghz. It lagged, but it ran.

But your vide card is very weak, even the old x1650 I used was better. The 4270 should be used for desktop software programs only, not games - it just doesn't have the power to run them. Otherwise, the PC sounds fine for most games. But the GPU needs an upgrade if you want to play.

I'd suggest the HD4670 or HD5670. The first is weaker, but should be far more cheaper too.

I don't appreciate you ignoring the patronizing qualifier of the post, but thanks for at least answering the question.

I hear you lefty. I'm getting that problem too. I have a laptop that's more than qualified to play Mass Effect 1 but doesn't...regardless of the fact that I play Mass Effect 2 no problem on it. When I try to get help all I get our people that throw out the tried and true "your computer is not as good as mine". It's weird what passes for being "computer savvy" in this generation.

Try posting a proper error report, instead of claiming "your laptop is good enough". You might find someone is capable of helping you then.
Is strange what passes for reading comprehension in your generation, as the "How to report a problem with your PC version of Mass Effect 1" thread is quite clearly visible at the top of the forum.
