Those are two different tales.  Integrating too many things into a concept can kill a concept unless its done right.  Many of the old Bio tales in my opinion needed a change because defeating a god that was your brother, is  a hard thing to top.  Outdoing yourself its great, and change is great, but so is focus.

Anyway this was loosely thrown out there because I feel some of the writing or the writing style needs to change.  This is not against the writers, but to the story.  This could go back to Torment, with a saying "what makes a man a man".  The story in Mass Effect is great but his course of action is not great. You can either blatantly do the right or wrong thing.  There did not seem to be any hard decisions,  kill the world or heal it.  The gray areas need to be challenged more to make a hero.  Many tools from old D&D like losing your gold and equiptment can and should be implemented.  Much healing comes from loss, and its those times that in my opinion are not challenged lately with Bio games. To Bio's credit, it's those time that have been done many times, which was the point of topic.  The need to branch into a shooter and still hold Bio at heart.

A way to look at this, if anyone is interested or agrees with me, is to compare Saravok to Saren.  One was the son of a god, the other a high ranking steward for the council.  Both corrupted.  I felt I had more tools to take down Saravok thank Saren.  To take down Saren I had a team, and a gun.  To take down Sarevok, I had my experience.

Anyway, loose topic if anyone wants to hit.
