There is a difference between your normal DLC and this free stuff that doesn't go out to EVERYONE though.   If it goes out to everyone, it is easier to just do an overnight maintenance, take the servers down and update EVERYONE.   For this, you need a script that goes through all the records, and adds it for only those who registered before Dec 1st.

Ithink I know what the Unrecognized item is....I posted this a couple of pages back but it got berried:

Oh and the Unrecognized Item is now listed under the PC version of my
"Registered Game Promotions".....even though I do not own the PC
version of the game and it wasn't there before I got the Character
Creator and I have all the DAJ flash game items.....


This leads me to conclude that the Unrecognized Item is either the Character Creator itself or its saves.

Your profile does not show any game registered.......that would mean that you'll likely never get it even if you registered your game now.

That is still useless if BioWare hasn't unlocked it for you.

I seriously doubt it since the character creator is not a promotional item that HAS to be registered before use.   It may be that there is another item or package that they will give us once it has been fixed or something.

That does not explain why it wasn't there on my profile before I downloaded the Character Creator last night and immediately after I played it and logged in with it the Unrecognizable item popped up.....on the PC version of DAO only of all things....I don't play DAO on the PC so that would be useless to me anyway.

Since The Edge was added at around the same time, it is possible that multiple things are being done at the same time.   It is the sort of thing where if they have to parse the customer database anyway to give one item, they were also adding a second "to be released" item in there for EVERYONE, just so they don't have to do this again.

Would the links and instructions to use them be in the first post of a sticky thread in the troubleshooting forum?

Maybe a week ago I compared it with a trade fair and the locusts that are just there to collect giveaways.

It's not nice, but here Bioware doesn't even have to loose anything, because everyone who downloads it, obviously has already bought the game, and the promotional item served its purpose.

I suppose it's wise to uninstall it once  the promotion is registered for you.
Involves deleting a folder and editing an XML file (or restoring a backup of it)

I've uninstalled the items meanwhile and made a mod that adds similar items to Bodahns shop instead, I hate to start the game with free overpowered items.

Do you really think the script they wrote to register it for anyone who registered the game before a certain date is so kind to make an exception just for you? Sorry, AI development isn't that advanced yet.

They may be obliging when it comes to the "before Nov 30" part, as keeping track of timezones as well would be overkill, but December 2nd obviously doesn't meet the condition.

You're a PC user, so there are other ways.

It is only against the rules if people take items that require payment and then modify them to remove that requirement.   If EA/Bioware want to put the items out there without the need to unlock them(key code), then it's fine.

Note that the download links come from na.llnet.bioware.cdn.ea.com, so there isn't any modification by players going on here.
