UE3 supports DX11, and even the pathetic excuse of an RPG Dragon Age 2 had a first day hi-res texture pack and DX11 support. Who in their right mind doesn't want high res textures and DX11 support for ME3?

I think you are talking about the March 2011 update and the Good Samaritian demo. Well, that demo required 3 GTX 580s to be run in SLI for a smooth framerate. I don't think that they will implement that just so it can run on only $2000 PCs.

That was just an extreme example of what they can do with the engine. ME3 doesn't have to look THAT good, but some DX11 and high-res texture support would be appreciated.

Agreed. As long as us PC gamers get some sort of high res pack or graphic enhancment pack, ill be happy.

However, I am worried about the future of PC gaming. Since this generation of consoles lost money on every console ( exept for Wii) , I'm worried that the next generation will be a small graphical leap compared to the jump between standerd and high definition.

They have broken even by now. BTW, console makers take losses on consoles because they recover all of it in licensing fee and earn several times more.

High resolution textures will absolutely make ME3 a better game, they would make ME1 and 2 better as well. Here's the thing, I don't play Mass Effect for the gameplay. ME1 is an average RPG and a poor shooter, ME2 is the reverse of that. Pure RPG fun? BG1&2, PS:T, Icewind Dale 1&2, KOTOR, etc.. All better. Pure shooter fun? GOW, DOOM 1&2, Duke Nukem 3D, Tribes, Quake, Borderlands, etc.. All better.

Only reason I play ME is the fact that its basically an interactive movie. ME has good looking visuals, its very cinematic, make your character and choices, and you get a craft a story over 3 games. Thats what I love about it. So in this case graphics DO matter because they are essential to what I enjoy about Mass Effect.

Let's just look at Wii U. It has a performance increase of about 50% compared to Xbox 360, which is used to display 1080p instead of 720p. That's not a huge leap. Microsoft and Sony will keep supporting their current-gen consoles for a while and then leap over Wii U.

Bump, I'd like to keep this discussion going. The current texture sizes in game are 1024x1024 with 512x512 which are very small and can see the blurry parts in game with a lot of pixel bleed. High Resolution textures at like 2048x2048 with good normal mapping would make the already seemingly high poly models of theirs look 10x better than what's currently in game for ME1/ME2. As I have been playing around with my own versions in 3ds Max, viewing my textures with their models, I can say it would greatly improve the visual experience that Bioware want's to achieve in a video game like this. Therefore I hope the developers do the same with ME3 that they did with Dragon Age 2 where there was a High Res Texture Pack, but I'm hoping it's for everything, not just the characters but the weapons, static objects, etc.

Let's just hope ME3 isn't a port from the console versions. Give us 2048X2048 textures, please BioWare!

EDIT: The comment above is a coincidence.

yes. I want HD textures too, even if it is a DLC and premium content!

I'm upgrading to a 1.5gb graphics card and I'll be able to manage any HD texture they can throw my way.

But alas they probably won't do it, they're not going to spend time on it for one segment of gamerss

They did it with DA2 you'd think they'd do it with every release...

The DA2 texture pack was mostly filler. Only a handful of textures were actually made high res.

You would think that it would of been by default to create textures at a high resolution rather than just dumb it down. Especially when you're first texturing a model, or a static. I know I would, just get the right quality, and then re-size it for other systems.

Yea, I didn't notice any difference when I had it installed and not installed.

Oh we all do. I really hope a high resolution texture pack is done, it would make a big difference in visuals already.

As paying customers, they are entitled to their opinion. Also, on the ME twitter they stated that  there would be HD textures for the PC release. Here's to hoping they actually release one.

I want game companies to push the limits of the PC's hardware again like they used to. But obviously BW is a company that is not willing to do that.

So, I settle for a high resolution texture pack for DA3. This time it should be consistent and all textures should get that treatment. Such packs should also be available for its DLCs.

I'm completely agree! Good point!
