har·bin·ger 1. a person who goes ahead and makes known the approach of another; herald. 2. anything that foreshadows a future event; omen; sign: Frost is a harbinger of winter. 3. a person sent in advance of troops, a royal train, etc., to provide or secure lodgings and other accommodations.

Is harbinger really the guy who we will face, is he the big bag reaper? It seem that he is probably not. The definition of Harbinger makes me feel as if he is just the messenger. Soverign always refered to himself as "we" in a sense like the Geth do.
.
Is Harbinger really our main enemy or the Reaper leader? I think not!

I don't think there is a leader. Sovereign said they are all powerful, all unique in their own ways.

Yeah, simmilar to Soverign who was a Vangaurd

Doubtful. I'm not even sure there is a leader among the Reapers. I wouldn't be surprised if Harbinger gets destroyed early in the game.

Sovereign refereed to itself as "we" because it contained sever different programs in one body; like Legion.

Well, it's a name that we know, and if we have any final showdown, it's probably going to be him. They can always just expand his position within the fleet if necessary.
And, it's just a name, likely given by Shep and Co based off his monologing, just like how Sovereign was a name that Saren gave it. Harby's actual Reaper name could mean anything.

No, it definitely referred to all Reapers multiple times.

I hope he isn't, he wasn't nearly as threatening as sovereign. I am hoping he is like starscream in transformers, and there is an evil overlord reaper thats like 5 times bigger.

It's interesting how Legion says "each Reaper is a nation," and yet they seem to all have a total single-mindedness of objective and methods. I feel like there must be some kind of controlling element driving it all. Whether that is Harbinger ( I don't think so) or something else entirely remains to be seen.

I believe each reaper has their own goals and agendas and some are maybe more ambitious than the others. I don´t think Harbinger is leader, I expect him to be very powerful probably one of the oldest and most ambitious, but other reapers just support him.

To make a comparison to real life; I hope Harbinger is the whiny puny little prison b*tch to a freaking bad-ass akin to Sovy.

I always assumed he was called harbinger because he was foreshadowing our future destruction by the reapers, not that he was the herald for some super reaper overlord.

Is Harbinger his actual name or is that just what we call him i.e. Sovereign/Nazara. Would Legion know?

I think on horizon he said, "We are the harbinger of their perfection." It would seem that "Harbinger" is in control of the collectors so it's natural people would hear him say this. I'm pretty sure Harbinger is not his real name, much like sovereign was actually Nazara. It's probably just the name humans just give him from lines like that.
Then again, he also says, "We are Harbinger". Man, these reapers are tough to figure out. I'd also like to know if the reapers have a command structure, if any, and if the reapers are in a war with another species, and most of all, where did they get their start? Why do they need to keep reproducing (reaping). Why do they need to increase their numbers? There must be some purpose. Otherwise, if they truly fear organic races or such, why not just bombard them into extinction? Why reap?

Legion probably don´t know Harbinger´s true name, but that is how he is called in cut scenes and keeps calling himself in different parts of game.

It proclaims to be the Harbinger of our perfection and ascendance.
Personally I think Harbinger is the Beast that foreshadows the Darkness.

He probably won't be the 'leader' because each Reaper is a nation and would be doing its own thing but he might be a 'nudging hand' that suggests to the others what to do. Also since he's the only Reaper that we personally know and have any history with he'll be a big part of the game simply because we know him.
I actually like Harbinger alot so I'm happy to see him in a large role for ME3.

I just thought of this but, what if Nazara was the name of the race Sovereign was made from. The human reaper would have said, "We are human." Just an idea. Also, apparently size plays a large part in importance in reaper society.

I'm quite sure a one kick-ass reaper king will emerge. Every installment needs a bad guy... First Saren/Sovereign, then Harbringer, And next will be some Reaper God.

I thought about that myself when the flying space arc theory became more popular. First they download the consciousness of captured individuals into the Reaper Core and then melt the them down into a genetic goo, which is then infused into the Reaper Avatar.
After the Reaper Avatar is completely grown and enough minds are in the Reaper Core, they smack a Reaper shell around it (the Ship part that we all see) and name the Reaper after the race it's made from. A "perfect" form of that race for all time. Salvation though Destruction.
Reapers most likely do things by consensus like the Geth. I don't think size has anything to do with it personally. Smaller Reapers may be pure robotic machines made for war, or the "leftovers" from a race which they turned into mini Reapers in order to fullfill smaller military functions. The oldest Reapers probably are the ones in "leadership positions," because they have always been in those positions. Not so much leaders per say, but they perform their function.
Sovereign's function was to watch and manipulate galactic civilization until they were ready to reap. Harbinger's function seems to be overseeing "ascendence" of a chosen race. Both became de facto communicators with Shepard.
There's possibly an original Reaper out there and he will be smoked out by Shepards success. It's more likely that Shepard is forced to take on Harbinger and/or his core without support, while trying to accomplish some key, commando-like objective in the Battle for Earth.

I have a feeling that their is something else behind the reapers given how he keeps referring to himself its more like hhe is the messenger that goes ahead. He is the herald of something greater.
