Mwames got it down pat. Posted Image  LofSB is a must if Shep's LI is Liara (how can Shep not help Liara? Actually, even if she's not the LI, well, who can give her a miss?).

Arrival is the weakest. (Thanks a peach, Admiral, you landed Shep in hot soup Posted Image)  and it doesn't matter whether it's played through or not.

Judges : Commander Shepherd ...how do you plea?
Shep : Not gulity. How can sucha  a crime be laid at my doorstep when I didn't buy the DLC?  Posted Image

...never mind me, I'm just bored. Posted Image

They need to release a game of the year edition at some point. I had to buy a purchase a new Xbox after my hard drive failure and lost all my dlc. I dread having to spend almost 60.00 for my game to be complete when the main game can now be bought for 20.00 new.

So, I have yet to buy a single DLC and I wanted to know which one(s) are either irrelevant and/or are a waste of money. The only ones  I planned on buying are the Arrival and Lair of the Shadow Broker. Or should I just go all out and buy 'em all(not including the alternate appearance packs and guns)? The Overlord DLC looked kind of dull and is the one I have the most doubts about. I'm really stingy when it comes to DLC.

I haven't played Arrival, but comparing Overloard and LotSB I would buy LotSB it had decent length to it and was pretty enjoyable.

In my personal order from best to worst:
1.) Lair of the Shadow Broker
2.) Kasumi: Stolen Memory
3.) Overlord
4.) Arrival

Dead on.

Get LotSB for sure. Even if you don't really care about Liara, you should be interested in finding out who the Shadow Broker is. It also adds some pretty nice features (like being able to reset squadmate abilities.) I'm also going to say LotSB has some of the best combat segments and arguably two of the best Boss Fights.

LOTSB was the best two hours of ME2, period.

It was better than most action movies that come out anymore lol.

if you want canon, get arrival. If you want good combat, definitely get LotSB. It's the longest, most diverse, and most intense. Overlord had one insane cinematic where this satelite dish gets absolutely destroyed, other than that it was alright (same old geth firefights, with a few mechs).

I agree. Brilliant dlc and it keeps being useful long after you finish the mission.

I'm curious why no one is mentioning the firewalker dlc?

LotSB:
+ Excellent writing
+ Excellent plot and character development
+ Some of the best combat in the entire franchise
+ You get a tonne of goodies at the end
+/- (depends) Liara's in it, in a big way
- A tad short - only 2-3 hours, although all of ME2's DLC is a bit short
- If you don't like Liara, it won't really have quite the same effect on you
Overall - 9/10

Overlord:
+ Some of the best atmosphere in the series
+ Excellent plot, especially the last half hour or so - the ending will probably make you cry
+ For the most part pretty good level design
+ Gameplay variety - mini puzzles, vehicle sections, open world sections, tonnes of awesome crazy stuff generally
+ Aite - touched on it a bit, but the general hub area was really good, probably would make a nice basis for ME3 exploration
+ Spacecows
- Also a bit short - 1.5 to 2 hours
- Whilst I personally find the Hammerhead quite fun to drive, some of the segments (cough, Vulcan Station) were really quite boring, plus it blows up all the time
- Actual on foot combat is a tad repetitive
Overall - 8.5/10

Kasumi: Stolen Memories:
+ Kasumi is awesome
+ You get a new squadmate, and a new SMG
+ The James Bond bit at the beginning is hilariously good fun
+ Donovan Hock's accent - it's awesome, trust me
+ Some cool cinematic bits
- Donovan Hock's accent (I was kidding, it's terrible)
- Really short - it'll only take you 45 or so minutes to do the mission
- Again, combat is ME2 standard affair, no real variety other than the James Bond bit, and the level design is pretty bland
Overall - 7.5/10

Arrival:
+ Stealth sequence - short but pretty well done
+ Atmosphere - again, some of the best in the series
+ Lance Henriksson's in it - you actually get to see Hackett
+ Level design is very good
+ Generally, combat is pretty fun
- Very short, only around 1-1.5 hours, with no new additional content after that
- The plot undermines the whole point of ME2 and was generally predictable, rushed and badly written
- You're solo, no squadmates, which kinda sucks

Overall - 7/10

The rest are just weapon or armour packs or free missions, which, bar Zaeed, you shouldn't really worry about too much.

Well, yes, but why not put at the bottom of the list then?  Plus there's Zaeed as well.

The nice thing about the PS3 version, is you get Overlord, LotSB, and Kasumi's Lost Memories

There's also the whole graybox decision at the end which I suspect could add content in ME3 if you played it in ME2.

And the new informal wear outfits are cool. They may not be appropriate for on-duty Shepard but they work pretty well for off-duty Shepard, particularly femshep :)

Kasumi's got some fun dialogue all through the game, too, which reacts to ongoing events and LI's.

My 2 cents:
-Alternate Appearance packs: no value. Unless you really want Jack to wear a shirt, or something.
-Firepower, Aegis, Equalizer packs: no value. A new gun to shoot with. Woo. Excitement!
-Kasumi: Meh. I liked the character, but I can't really say the mission in it was good. Get it if Kasumi sounds interesting to you. Otherwise skip it.
-Overlord: Fairly decent. It's nothing but shooting at stuff. But it's a well designed shooting romp. Get it if you like ME2's combat gameplay and want more.
-Shadow Broker: It's main draw is Liara. If you have no interest in the character of Liara, then it still has a couple of decent combat sections. When it comes to combat gameplay I didn't find it to be as good as Overlord, but it has it's moments.
-Arrival: It's the DLC that sets up the intro for ME3. Get it only if you want it for that reason. I can't reccommend on it's own merrit.

So wrong about the packs....yeah the apperance are nothing but asthetic but the armor and weapons packs will change how you and your squad go through the game. If your a one shot pony and only plan on doing 1-2 playthroughs then none of it is necissary but maybe Shadow Broker because it is so good. Otherwise if you're like me and are working on your 9th playthrough then they all matter except maybe Arrival which is just there and can be easily skipped.

MISSION DLCs

Normandy Crash Site - Normally i wouldn't recommend that you get this, but since it's free, there's really no reason not to. It's not that long, and mostly just there for the nostalgia factor.

Zaeed - Adds a new loyalty mission, a flamethrower heavy weapon and (most importantly) A new squadmate, a pure combat specialist. This one is also free, so get it.

Firewalker - Boring. 5 levels of piloting the Hammerhead through boring environments. This one is also free, so it's up to you. you're better off sticking with overlord to get your hovertank fix.

Kasumi - 1 new loyalty mission with a really fun James Bond atmosphere, 1 great new SMG, A new casual outfit (the female version of which is unique) and 1 new squadmate, a tech specialist with a focus on stealth abilities. This one is around $7.

Overlord - A well-written plot that has some background links to Cerberus (with an amazing ending) and Hammerhead sections that are actually fun compared to Firewalker, It's also fairly lengthy. This one is also around $7.

Lair of the Shadow Broker - If you get only one DLC pack, It has to be this. This is not only the best DLC mission, It's one of the best missions in the entire game. This one is centered around Liara and reveals the identity of the Shadow Broker that you've heard so mush about in the past 2 games. It is considered canon, so you're missing out on a good portion of the story if you don't get it. This is around $10.

Arrival - This one is jut "meh." It feels rushed, like it's only there because the writers backed themselves into a corner and needed to set up the beginning of ME3. There's barely any dialogue and the one major choice in the mission is made for you. You do get to meet Admiral Hackett in person, though. The plot is predictable and contradicts a lot of the story of ME2. Oh, and it's a solo mission, because they didn't feel like giving an excuse as to why you're squadmates don't talk for the entire mission because they didn't hire the voice actors. Around $7.

WEAPON AND ARMOR PACKS. I'm not going to list all of these, just the ones that are somewhat interesting.

Cerberus armor and weapon pack. - It's free, so get it anyway. One suit of armor that you will probably never wear. The real item of interest is the shotgun, which you get at the beginning of the game and outclasses the starter shotgun in every way.\\

Arc projector - This is also free. A heavy weapon that shoots lightning and can jump from one enemy to another. That's really all there is.

Aegis pack - 1 amazing burst-fire sniper rifle along with the only armor set worth buying. $2

Firepower pack - 3 great guns. A semi-auto assault rifle that does a lot of damage per shot, a pistol with a laser sight that's slow-firing but accurate and powerful, and a shotgun that works a lot better at medium range and can be charged for extra damage. $2

Appearance pack 1 - 1 new outfit for Thane, Garrus, and Jack. Thane's outfit is a bad re-skin with stupid glasses and Garrus gets another re-skin with the gaping hole fixed and a new microphone, along with some impractical looking shiny neon lights. Jack is the one this pack benefits the most, as she finally gets some clothes. unfortnately, she also gets a stupid looking visor. $2

Appearance pack 2 - same thing with Grunt, Tali, and Miranda. Grunt and Tali's outfits can be ignored, as they're just re-skins, but Miranda actually gets some armor so she doesn't prance around into battle in spandex and high heels anymore. $2

^Nice summary. I'd tend to agree with all that. The Geth Plasma Shotgun in the firepower pack is my favourite weapon in the game :)

Well you should get all of them.

But if you need to choose only some, then I would get them in this order.

1) LotSB
2) Kasumi:Stolen memory
3) Overload
4) Arrival

And from weapon and armor packs.
1) Firepower
2) Aegis
3) Alternate appearance 1 or 2. (depends which characters you like the most)
4) Equalizer

Oh yes, equalizer, I forgot about that one. I use the archon visor with a lot of my Shepards it decreases the cooldown for powers and it's one of the few head pieces that don't obscure the face too much.
