I wonder if Bio will find a way to bring in the history of the Reapers and their reasoning for the cycles in ME3. The only plausible source to explain it would be a Reaper so I dont really see how it will be likely unless, at some point late in the game, Harbinger (etc) attempts to convince Shepard they are doing the Galaxy a favor. I guess that would make a bit of sense because Harbinger did state they were "your salvation through destruction".

I'm actually very interested to see how Bio twists the story arc of their history.

I actually hope they'll leave it as a great unknown.

But.. destroying an enemy that we have no knowledge of a backstory is kind of bland and distasteful. :?

Sure the Reapers are out to kill us or enslave us and we're going to try and stop them, but please at least give us the backstory of the Reapers before we destroy them in some form. They're still so mysterious.

As much as I'm sure that the 'salvation through destruction' line refers to the fact that Reapers are immortal - essentially granting the species that spawned each Reaper the same right - that won't stop me from wishing that the Reapers are, in fact, involved in some form of intergalactic affairs rather than hibernating in dark space and Shepard's attempts to break the cycle might actually put the Milky Way in greater danger by destroying their fleet and cutting off their resources (both organic and technological.)

I kind of feel like the game has told me enough about them that I wouldn't feel let down if there wasn't much added/changed (infact I might even like that less).

The Reapers basically seem like almost an embodiment of arrogance.  They believe they are the pinnacle of existence and that they're pretty much infallible, they see no reason to change what they're doing and feel that granting others the opportunity to be used to produce more of them (or otherwise serve them) is a great honour and extremely generous.  They don't need more reason than that, from their point of view all of their actions are completely justified and anyone who opposes them is basically wrong.
Basically they're like a lot of people on the internet Posted Image.

That's my view of it anyway, I don't really feel we need more than that because it's a totally believable character to me.  If they can write some extra interesting depth then I'm fine with that but I don't feel it's necessary.

I'd like to see more story for the reapers, what we have is good enough, but if we found out why they do this whole cycle and where the Reapers came from, it could add a lot more depth to it.

My hope is that the Reapers history is somehow the key to defeating them
