If you didn't install the Zaeed DLC, will he appear in ME3?

And the experience wasn't a pleasant one, so when I went for playthrough 2, I made sure Zaeed didn't come along for the ride.
There is list of a reasons why he was excluded from the party:
1. He failed the loyalty test.
At the end of the game, only two squadmates were not loyal and he was one of them (Subject Zero was the other one).
Which means you can't trust him for any task of importance during the suicide mission.
And since I was able to keep the rest of the team happy, the fact that he failed is highly suspicious.
I mean, I convinced Tali to become friends with Legion! And both of them remained Loyal.
If I could do that, I should have been able to keep everyone on my side!
2. I'm already at my antisocial tattoeed crewmember limit.
To me, he's too much like Subject Zero. I didn't like her and I don't like him.
People who can't integrate into Normandy's social structure don't belong.
And while SZ is forced upon me, I don't have to take Massani in.
3. He's a pretend Soldier.
Compared to Grunt or even Ashley, he can't do the job as well as they can.
And his abilities aren't even worth considering, since (as a Soldier), I have them all anyway!
And the final reason, which was my major motivational for kicking him out:
4: He's taking over the spot in the roster that belongs to Ashley.
She should have been there in his place.
Ironically, I did actually like the DLC, it's just Massani himself that put me off.
To paraphrase Mr Perkins from Despicable Me:
"I like this DLC. I love everything about this DLC. Except for one thing. Massani."

I don't like him either. Which is why the play through I am working on right now, he won't make it past the SM. He's toast. He may be loyal even though Shepard punched him in the face. He will be the 2nd team leader of the biotic bubble part when he should die when getting shot. If not, I'm going to be ticked off. I wanted one game with him dead. I have a few that he wasn't recruited, but that doesn't mean he won't show up in ME3. I'm changing things up, so I have different things going on in different imports.Tilarta wrote...

I would like to thank BioWare for creating these two games, so we are able to have many different play throughs with many different things going on. YEA!

And how can you people say he's useless as a squamate? His Inferno Grenade is extremely useful against organics, while his Disruptor ammo helps when you engage synthetics like geth or mechs. Arm him with the Mattock and Incisor and he's great support fire.
I'd like to see him in ME3, just to hear what other stories he has in store.

I play as a soldier more than any other class and I don't need Zaeed with me. I don't take Grunt with my soldier either. I'll take Garrus because he has overload, but those three have most of the same stuff. Which is why I don't bother with Zaeed.horacethegrey wrote...
I like Zaeed. Aside from that incident on Zorya where Shepard has to put a gun to his head to keep him in line, he keeps his head on the job. He's a real professional and more of a badass than some of your squadmates.

Isn't Zaeed a free download? Why wouldn't you install it?
He is quickly becoming one of my absolute favorite characters. If you take him on missions involving Blue Suns (recruiting Archangel), he has some hilarious lines. I take Zaeed and Jack out on missions quite a lot, as I think they're both hilarious.
As for ME3, I wouldn't dare speculate, but I HOPE he is in ME3, so he can be a goddamn hero.
He reminds me of senechal Varel. That alone is reason enough to like Zaeed
That's because they have the same voice actor who also voices the redcliffe major and Harrowmont.

He's probably in a side-mission or two, with a few references to him here and there throughout the game. If you didn't have the DLC, then you will likely just never have these side-missions or references.

Assault Rifles, half the squadmates can carry them into battle.
Ammo powers, also very common.
I'm a Soldier, so if I want disruptor ammo, I activate the power and shoot the mech myself!
I don't need someone to do it for me.
And I have a very nice AR as well, so I don't need someone to carry another one for me.
And if I want to kill someone with fire, I ask Mordin to come along and use his incendiary blast.
I don't need a deadweight disloyal soldier when I have 10 Loyal people who are more capable of supporting me in combat.

I have 10 of the galaxy's best people backing me up and I'm going to fail because I don't have 11?
No matter how awesome you are, a Reaper is still a bit big to tackle with an assault rifle.
But for me, my dislike of Zaeed boils down to one simple fact that applies to ALL squadmates:
"If you fail the loyalty test, don't let the door hit you on the way out".
Zaeed and Subject Zero both became Normal Loyalty, so based on that, they weren't welcome on my crew anymore.
Up until that point, I had been fairly accepting of their presence onboard.

Yes, any squadmate who is not Loyal (Normal) by the time we go to the Collector Base is automatically dismissed from the game.
I think the Zaeed scenario went like this:
"The factory is on fire! We have to save the workers!"
"Screw the workers, I want my revenge!"
"I want to save the workers"
<bad guy gets away, Zaeed is not Loyal!>
<followed by Zaeed tossing a big hissy fit>
I was never comfortable with letting people die in a fire that was partially our fault.
But apparently if you choose the noble and compassionate route, Zaeed turns on you like a pig on a spit.
If anything gets in the way of his much desired revenge, he's not a very nice guy.
And that's the major reason I stopped liking him, killing innocent people for the sake of a 20 year old grudge.
Yeah, that's the kind of person you want to help you save the galaxy.
He'll probably push me into the field of fire to stop the bullet meant for him.

I've punched Zaeed in the face and saved the workers, but he was still loyal at the end. Not sure how loyal he will be to Shepard in ME3. That we will have to see. I have yet to not have enough paragon points to not get his loyalty.Tilarta wrote...

And you know you can still get his loyalty even if Vido gets away.
I mean, if you don't like him, you don't like him. That's fine, but don't dislike Zaeed because you couldn't figure that out.
You say Zaeed is highly suspicious because you couldn't get his loyalty...lol. No. It just means you, the player, screwed up.

It didn't end well, at least, for Zaeed.
You can view the result here:
When the time comes to secure his loyalty, this is what the wheel says
You brought this on yourself (Paragon/secure loyalty response)
You owe me big for this (Paragon)
Come on, Zaeed. let's go (Neutral)
I'm leaving you here (Renegade)
According to the notes, only the first response will make Zaeed loyal.
And since I'm a Paragade with a 60/40 split of Morality, I didn't have the required 100 Paragon rating to use the appropriate response.
So, I left him there to burn and die.
And I must say, it was pretty arrogant of Zaeed to assume since I defeated the Collectors without his help, that he still thought I needed his services.
That ought to be a rule, when you're trapped under a metal beam in a burning pool of fuel, don't make the Paragade angry.
I declare this chapter on Zaeed closed.
One thing I did notice is the Cerberus report says that Zaeed "supposedly died".
It looked pretty final to me.
Of course, he could have survived somehow.
But wouldn't that contract BioWare's "if they died in ME2, they're dead and not coming back" policy?
I won't be very impressed if Zaeed comes back from the dead.
And if he comes back as an enemy, well, I'll make sure he dies this time......
