As you may now know the new Paragon/Renegade system for ME3 is now a meter like in SWKoToR, what's your opinion on this?

Here's a picture if you, do not understand: Posted Image

No it's not, if you take a look on your own SS, you will note that both paragon and renegad are filling the bar. So no, you don't have a unique bar that only fills toward one of the paths.

I would guess it can fill up at both sides at the same time, I doubt they will change something so typical to the series.

It's not a final rendition by any means.

If you take a closer look at the middle of the bar. You see a blue AND red line adjacent to each other. That indicates that the blue line will only grow in height as the game progresses in a paragon play. Likewise for renegade play except down.

Early me2 gameplay compared to final hardly changed i think its likely final.

GUI ALWAYS changes a fair amount, especially a year from ship. You'll see.

Isn't that a blue line over there?

Don't get worked up too much, we assumed the same for power reqs and and p/r bars for squaddies.

There's a dash in the middle separating the two bars.

And the gui in the GDC 2009 ME2 is very different from the final version.

I made the same mistake. As soon as they showed the demo on E3 I came on here and posted that they'd changed the system but someone pointed out the blue line (which was hard to spot).

I have to say, I hope they change it, as it really gives the wrong impression the way it is.

It's a lot easier to change a display bar than it is to change the way, say, your gunplay engine works.

That kind of thing probably goes through more iterations than other facets of gameplay.

Considering that the weapon icons weren't even completed, I wouldn't take anything GUI-related as final.

Im just curious why there still is a P/R system.
I mean whats it really for, so people can see tell if they are a good Shep or a jackass one?. xD

Early ME2 gameplay had the overheat system and a very different user interface.

BioWare hesitated to show this at E3 because it's work in progress, but they showed it anyway because we asked nicely. I believe Casey Hudson (or another dev) said on Twitter that the paragon/renegade system is the same.

How dare they change the curved meter into a straight one! Just another example that proves they pandering to the masses who are confused by complicated things. Like curves. And stuff. This is an affront to RPG lovers everywhere!

A morality system was an inherent part of the Dungeons & Dragons roleplaying game which, of course, Bioware did a lot of work with. It's kind of synonymous with roleplaying in some circles.

In Mass Effect I guess it makes you think about your character more. Encouraging you to be consistent with your character's general moral and ethical outlook as opposed to just randomly picking whichever dialogue you fancy at the time.

The various charm/intimidate options represent the force of character that Shepard has in persuading people and that tends to mean more to the player if they have to work to achieve that level of persuasiveness rather than just getting it automatically.

Regards

In ME it unlocked charm/intitmate slots for you to put ponits in, in ME2 it was the decider if you can charm/intiminate. It also changed the ending in ME.

Nitpick: It's actually a one-sided concave meter :innocent:

Well it was. If you did not have a high Paragon rating you would fail harder charm challanges. Sadly it looksl ike this is not fixed since there is no persuade tree.

Agreed! What's the matter with people now a days?? They cant read a curved meter? What is our world coming to??

lol, but seriously, I honestly think it'll work exactly the same as it has in both ME1 AND ME2, it just happens to be.. in a straight bar this time... And that last statement can be taken to mean two very different things, lol.
