To be honest guys, has it ever occured to anyone that the charm of the Soldier might be its simplicity? In a game where 5 other classes offer varying degrees of complex game-play shouldn't there be one that plays how a certain group of gamers want to play?

I say it's a game design for them to play straight forward, and I'm certain that Soldiers will have something other than gun-selection to keep them different from other classes.

What I don't like is that since the soldier is and has always been combat-oriented, by giving assault rifles to everyone in ME3 you're nullifying one big advantage that the soldier has over the other classes.

I think the soldier needs new powers or abilities to compensate for that.

ME1- Assault Rifle wasn't Soldier exclusive
ME2- Assault Rifle wasn't Soldier exclusive
ME3- Assault Rifle won't be Soldier exclusive

So I don't see your point about AR's.

In ME2 you had to go to the collector ship in order to get access to rifles with other classes. That's a big advantage given to the soldier in ME2, lost  as far as we know in ME3.

Yeah, but people are insinuating that the AR is something unique to the Soldier when it never was.

And so what if that advantage is lost?

Soldiers still have every gun available to them at one time, never needing to worry about running out of ammo, grenades, a damage multiplier against every type of enemy at every range, high survivability, etc etc.

The fact that its not unique is irrelevant. Especially since its supposed to be the simple class to begin with.

And its not like it sucks. Looking at what I just posted about its positives, I can't see why people are complaining.

If they want snazzy cool looking attacks, play another class that's more complex.

I mean, that's what I would do.

The funny thing is that with the exception of the Vindicator, Mattock and Revenant, the Locust is better than any of the assault rifles.

So the other classes can might as well be given them.

Especially when Shepard is N7, and has received training with all firearms, regardless of class.

So Locust > M8?

Making all guns available to all classes will make the non-soldier classes less of a pain.  The limitation on guns meant that your shotgun engineer/adept/sentinal had to wait to collector ship to get the gun ( about 1/2 way through game ).  So it removes the need to mod the game for those to get the gun earlier - so its really good for those classes.  Soldier is the most used class and they are not going to make it useless in ME3.

Soldier is the only class that can have Revenant AR, that counts at least something.

WRONG!
All classes will be able to equip the Revenant.   Image IPB

are you sure about this?

becasue thatd be awesome!

Unless I am hugely mistaken, the only possible way to have Revenant for all classes in ME2 is to manipulate coalasced.ini, which in other words is cheating at least to me. So far we don´t know are the classes that were unable pick advanced weapons (Revenant, Widow, Claymore) able to have them in ME3. It would be possible if they are sold in stores or as mission reward or again manipulating coalasced.ini or export ME2 character to ME3 with manipulated save file.

Soldier is arguably one of the most (if not the most) powerful class in both ME1 and ME2 and is by far the most popular class in the game. Bioware isn't going to neglect any of the six classes and certainly not the one that majority of players play.

Soldier was arguably too powerful (the easiest class to beat the game with in my opinion) in the previous games. The vast majority of players didn't even play as anything else.

That's either a sign of the other classes not doing enough... or the soldier class having too much. As far as I'm concerned, it's likely a mix of both.

bioware will do some adjustment of any classes when using weapons, in order to keep their characteristics.

Sentinels have the protection, but they lack the firepower to make it fun, having incendiary ammo is a must.

What's your idea of fun then? warp/singularity???? Fun...

Again, you dislike shooters don't you???

No, I dislike when shooting is the only thing I do. And Incinerate over Incendiary Ammo any day, since it actually allows for crowd control.

Not to mention that I've never seen the point in having five weapons with me if I'm only using three of them at the most.

Assault rifles, sniper rifles and shotguns/pistols for me in ME3 and I'm set.

Inferno Ammo is great crowd control...what on earth are you talking about?

It creates 3 sec dot setting enemies inflame, sometimes they try to put it out or go offbalance, at least some humanoids.

Depends on the weapon with a Shotgun or ESPECIALLY the Mattock, Inferno is Godly. One shot=instant panic and surrounding enemies do the fire dance and it can be used much more frequently that Incinerate.

the soldier has pretty much always been the easiest class to use and the most powerfull in a straight fight, while in ME1 it was overshardowed by the infiltrator (I dont care what anyone says, its true, the M E1 infiltrator had all the soldiers best traits plus the best tech powers) in ME2 they are the fastest, one of the more durable, and esily the best damage dealers, I doubt soldiers will be left to waste, people had this thread before ME2 came out and the soldier got a huge upgrade, so dont worry.

I think engineer is the most useless class. Soldier however is the best for both games so far and will no doubt be the same in 3.

lol think again, a class that could summon an annoying, explosive combat drone like every 5 seconds, that can carry up to 3 weapons, and whose powers are fast and meant to disrupt his enemies shields, etc, is useless? Yeah right XD. That sounds more like "almost invincible" to me, not useless.

Soldier isn't an useless class either, I like it the way it is, and I think the new skills in ME3 will make him stand out more from the 2 previous soldier classes.

A properly upgraded Engineer can pop out a drone every ~2 seconds.  It's preposterous.

I'm sure it's been said before, soldier is the default class. The game is built around the soldier class, then the other classes are wedged in.

Soldier is not useless at all. In fact, I'd say that soldier is the best class to use for enjoying the story. Once that's done, then use the other classes to discover the variations.

I'm a diehard adept player, however, soldier will be my first run with ME3.
